Photoinduced electron transfer as a design concept for luminescent redox indicators

The exploitation of photoinduced electron transfer as a general design principle for the development of luminescent redox indicators and logic gates is described. Potential future applications in biology, environmental analysis, biomedical diagnostics, corrosion science and materials science are mentioned.

Towards the Climate Adaptive Residential Buildings Design

Climate adaptability of residential buildings is critical for their energy efficiency. This paper investigates the operable design methods dealing with residential climate adaptability on the basis of the general design principle and the conceptual design theory. Particularly, the impacts of wind forces on the ventilation environment and sunshine on the lighting environment for residential buildings are explored by combining qualitative analysis and numerical simulation under the perspectives of master plan and individual design, respectively. The corresponding alternative operable design schemes are presented through case examples to make buildings more adaptive to local climate.

A Design Principle of Toothbrush Handle Based on Ergonomic Theory

Toothbrush is a simple but an indispensible product. The reasonable or not of its design directly influences human’s oral health. Its handle is the main body of a toothbrush and plays a critical role in the success of its design. This paper makes a research on toothbrushes and studies on the general design principle of toothbrush handle with a combination of ergonomic theory.
