Pulmonary tuberculosis is very common but genitourinary tuberculosis, specifically tuberculous cystitis is very rare. A 40 year old male patient came to a teaching hospital on 26 June 2016 with the complaints of fever, painful micturition, haematuria, lower abdominal pain and gradual loss of weight. The case was diagnosed as tuberculous cystitis and treated accordingly and successfully. In this report, the case condition, procedure of diagnosis and treatment are reported in details.Mediscope Vol. 4, No. 2: Jul 2017, Page 35-38

Inflammatory diseases of the thyroid can be classified into three broad categories: acute, subacute and chronic thyroiditis. Subacute disease includes granulomatous or De Quervain’s thyroiditis and lymphocytic thyroiditis or silent thyroiditis. The gland swells up and is very painful and tender. As thyroid hormones are discharged into the blood, patient becomes hyperthyroid clinically but the gland cannot take up iodine so the radioactive iodine uptake is very low. The hyperthyroidism generally resolves after a few weeks. The relief of pain by giving NSAID or steroids in this condition is so dramatic as to be almost diagnostic. A 40 year old man, hailing from Nawabganj, Dhaka was diagnosed as De Quervain’s thyroiditis and treated successfully. In this report, the case condition, procedures of diagnosis and treatment are reported in details.Mediscope Vol. 4, No. 1: Jan 2017, Page 35-37

Hydrogen embrittlement threshold curves were derived for two quenched and tempered steel grades, AISI 4135 and AISI 4340, at varying hardness ranging from 33 to 54 HRC. For each material, hydrogen was introduced (i) by zinc electroplating as a worst case condition for internal hydrogen embrittlement and (ii) by imposing cathodic potential of −1.2 V as a worst case condition for environmental hydrogen embrittlement. Overall, AISI 4135 exhibited lower thresholds than AISI 4340, making it the more susceptible of the two alloys. The findings demonstrate although hardness and/or strength have a first-order effect on hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility, difference in chemistry leading to differences microstructural characteristics must also be considered. Below hardness of 39 HRC, both alloys were not susceptible to internal hydrogen embrittlement, a finding that is consistent with common industry practice and fastener electroplating standards that do not mandate baking of electroplated fasteners with specified hardness below 39 HRC.

Data sorting is a technique that widely used as a part of a bigger process. Therefore, data sorting should not be the problem of program complexity. This paper gives the reader a comparison between two sorting algorithms, which are comparison based and non-comparison based, in time and space performance. The data type that used in this paper is an integer data type. Testing is carried out by using two types of data’s condition, which are the worst-case condition in each algorithm, and two amounts of data, which represent the maximum and minimum amount data.

This paper discusses the prescribed requirements contained within the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code that specifically address the need to recognize the restraint introduced by piping support friction. The requirement for the design of sliding supports (pipe shoes) and brackets to resist the forces due to friction in addition to the loads induced by bearing is also reviewed and discussed. Questions surrounding the inclusion of the effects of utilizing the maximum coefficients of static friction and the impact of these values on equipment nozzle loadings are explored in light of the qualitative guidelines contained within WRC Bulletin 449. The restraint provided by support friction is approached through the mathematical treatment of extrema with respect to calculated nozzle loads. The calculated nozzle loads then become based upon the analyst’s choice of the largest referenced coefficients of static friction (in most cases) between the two interfacing materials under consideration. It is highly improbable that the choice of the maximum coefficients of friction at each support will exist, but rather, it is physically impossible for this “worst case” condition to occur. Recommendations for the proper treatment of the potential restraint induced by piping support friction in a Code piping analysis are tendered.
