Oleogranuloma, a peculiar change in the subcutaneous fatty tissue, was quite often observed in our typhoid epidemics of 1918-22. At the end of this period, this suffering, as a complication after typhus, was sufficiently studied. At the same time, similar changes in adipose tissue were found in cases not related to typhus. The latter group includes our case, which is distinguished by the universality of the distribution of oleogranulomas.

Humans can grasp an object without information such as a coefficient of friction or weight. To implement this grasping motion with the robot hand, sensors have been proposed that detect an incipient slip within the contact surface or stick-slip. A large number of slip sensors have been proposed, but small, flexible, and practical slip sensors are currently not available yet. We have been involved in research and development activities for a center of pressure (CoP) tactile sensor that is small and flexible. This sensor uses a pressure conductive rubber to detect the central position of the load distribution and total load. As a result of using the sensor to make experiments on slip detection, we found that a peculiar change appeared in the load output of the sensor immediately before the slip displacement of an object occurred. Based on this output change, we proposed a control method that was capable of setting a grasping force in accordance with the weight of an object. However, the principle was not made clear that caused the output change to occur. We hypothesized that the change was caused by the characteristics of the pressure conductive rubber used for the material of the sensor. As a result of making verification experiments based on this hypothesis, we found that the output change was due to a change in the resistance value when the pressure conductive rubber shear deformed. It was also found that the scale of a change in the resistance value was dependent largely upon the shear deformation speed of the pressure conductive rubber. This paper describes the principle that a peculiar change occurs in the CoP sensor immediately before the occurrence of an object slip. It also reports the characteristics of the pressure conductive rubber that have newly been made apparent.

Cryosurgery on the eyelids destroys the cellular elements in the frozen region, but preserves the collagenous supporting structures. Cells from the neighborhood colonize this framework during wound healing. The Authors describe a peculiar change in the Meibomian glands, which obviously developed by this mechanism in a lid treated by cryotherapy for a basal cell carcinoma. The collagenous lodges of the Meibomian glands, denuded of their sebaceous cells by the therapy, were epithelialized by ingrown conjunctival epithelium. This situation seems to promote the spread of and maintain acute and chronic exogenous inflammation in the tarsal plate.

68 women with various neuropsychiatric disorders in menopause were examined. A significant place among these disorders was occupied by reactive states, in which menopause itself was a psychogenic factor. A peculiar change in behavior was revealed in 12 women. It manifested itself as a reaction of the hysterical type in the form of "reality mystification" and was observed, on average, 1-2 months after the onset of menopausal disorders. The reaction of the personality to menopause as a significant phenomenon arose in the form of hysteroid behavior only in those women who, before the menopause, were inclined to hysterical forms of reaction that had not previously reached a significant degree of severity.

From a peculiar change of colour observed in the electrolysis of a solution of copper-cobalt potassium sulphate, the author was recently induced to make some experiments on the behaviour of cobalt sulphate solution when electrolysed in such a manner that the reducing product of the decomposition could not act on the solution. For this purpose a divided cell was used, so that the two electrodes were practically in separate vessels. The apparatus will be fully described in a future communication.
