A survey of Opiinae (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) of Finland, part 2

Faunistic records of 150 species of Opiinae are given mainly for Finland. 78 species are reported as new to Finland. The gross distributions and known hosts are mentioned. Psyttalia carinata (Thomson), Biosteres (Chilotrichia) bicolor (Wesmael) and B. (C.) sylvaticus (Haliday) are deleted from the fauna of Finland. Paraphytomyza similis (Brischke) is a new host for Opius (Odontopoea) connivens Thomson, and Euphranta connexa (Fabricius) (Diptera, Tphritidae) for Psyttalia concolor (Szepligeti).

Description of the egg and larva of Euphranta connexa (Fabricius) (Diptera: Tephritidae) and of the egg of its parasitoid Scambus brevicornis (Gravenhorst) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonoidea)

The eggs of Euphranta connexa (Fabricius) and Scambus brevicornis (Gravenhorst) are described for the first time. Although the 3rd instar larva of E. connexa has briefly been described from Czechoslovakia, Swedish specimens are shorter, have fewer tubules in the anterior respiratory organ and the interspiracular bristles of the posterior respiratory organ look different. SEM studies of the 3rd instar larva also revealed ultrastructural characters of taxonomic significance. This is clearly shown in comparisons made with other tephritid species.
