In UHVDC transmission system, the inverter station is located in different geographical locations, and there are two sections of lines in single pole of HVDC system, which brings challenges to the traditional closed line protection. In this paper, firstly, the structural characteristics of series connection mode and the output characteristics of each converter in case of line fault are analysed, and the adaptability of conventional line protection in series multiple receiving ends system is studied. According to the characteristics of UHVDC system with multiple receiving ends in series connection mode, a hierarchical protection strategy is proposed and verified in PSCAD model.

In this paper, the wrench accuracy for parallel manipulators is examined and the solution sets of actuator forces/torques are investigated under variations in parameters and data. The subset of solution set that produces platform wrenches within the required lower and upper bounds are modeled using discrete and analytical methods. In addition, the formulation of the solutions that provide any platform wrench within the defined interval is examined. Intersection of these two sets, if any, results in the given interval platform wrench. Moreover, the dependency among the entries of the interval linear systems and its effect on the solution set is considered. The discrete method is based on the discretization of solution set enclosure and validation at each increment, or the collection of the solutions of real linear relations for the discretized interval coefficient matrix and output vector. The analytical method for each solution set is based on the intersection of the pertinent closed half-spaces or the assembly of closed line segments that encompass the solution. Implementation of the methods to identify the solution for actuator forces/torques is presented on example parallel manipulators.

Laboratory fire tests were performed in still air, for variable inclinations (10°, 15°) and fuel bed dimensions (1.28×2.50–3.0×4.6m2), with homogeneous fuel beds of pine needles and pine wood excelsior. The fire ignition was made at a point, along a closed line with no fuel inside and along a straight edge of the fuel bed. The tests were recorded with an infrared camera and various techniques were developed to implement direct and indirect empirical methods of construction of the ‘orientation function’ of the fire in the given fuel bed and ambient conditions, showing how the rate of spread of a steady straight fire front depends on its orientation on the terrain. The direct method uses a set of straight fire fronts with various orientations whereas the indirect method uses essentially a point ignited fire front. Contrary to what is assumed in BehavePlus model, the orientation function is observed to depend significantly on the properties of the fuel bed. In all tests with closed fire fronts, the full steadiness required by the indirect method was not achieved (namely, at the head of the front), although, for slope angle of 10°, the corresponding errors induced on the orientation function were small.

Abstract We consider the cutting process of the generalized Möbius–Listing surface along some closed line which is parallel to its border line. We show connections of the resulting mathematical objects with the set of knots and links. In some cases we count the indices of the corresponding objects according to the known classification.
