The article concerns the problems of implementation of the modern urban planning methods and principles in the context of historical process of urbanization. Network and polycentric urban planning actively developed in 19th century and implied the equal distribution of public facilities and communications, the unification of the urban space with the connecting axes, the integration of transport and engineering infrastructure. The purpose of the article is to consider the urban planning strategies of Barcelona’s renovation of 19th centuries and to define it’s correspondence to the tasks of modern urban development. The relevance of the topic is determined by it’s connection with problems of modern growth-oriented urban structures. The article is based on complex and system theoretical approach. Theoretical analysis of urban planning strategies and urban space development is implemented to reveal the most perspective and progressive tendencies of urban planning, which anticipated the modern principles of urban space formation. This article contents a comparison of political communication about climate, as it was among politicians at Christiansborg (the Danish Parliament) in 2009/10 and as it is now in 2019. The comparison is based on interviews with politicians in 2009/10 and the written proposals about climate from the Danish political parties in 2018/19. This is a less traditional methodological comparison, but the article argues that this is exactly a comparison of the most comprehensive information about the parties’ climate politics from these two periods. The analysis, based on a system theoretical approach, shows how the Danish politicians communication about climate has changed from being relatively abstract in 2009 to be relatively concrete in 2019. Moreover, the analysis shows how the contemporary more concrete communication about climate is based on numbers and calculations and shows that numbers and calculations has become the dominating communication form among politicians, when they communicate about climate.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the patterns of reported cargo thefts at non-secure parking facilities in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) with respect to stolen value, frequency, incident category, and modi operandi. Design/methodology/approach – This study is based on a system-theoretical approach that emphasizes on a holistic rather than an atomistic view. The research method used in this paper is deductive; the analysis is based on data obtained from the incident information service (IIS), a database of transport-related crimes from the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) in the EMEA region. The results are analysed and discussed within a frame of reference based on supply chain risk management (SCRM) and criminology theories. Findings – We found that 97 per cent of all attacks during a stop occur at non-secure parking locations. Cargo thefts at these locations are more of a volume crime than high-value thefts. Seasonal variations were seen in these thefts, and the most common type was an intrusion on weekdays during winter. Research limitations/implications – This study is limited by the content of and the classifications within the TAPA EMEA IIS database. Practical implications – This paper is directly relevant to the current EU discussions regarding the creation of a large number of secure parking facilities in the region. Originality/value – This is one of the first papers in the field of SCRM that utilizes actual crime statistics reported by the industry to analyse the occurrence of cargo theft by focusing on the non-secure parking aspect in the transport chain.
