Intussusception after reconstruction following gastrectomy for gastric cancer

Background Gastric cancer is the most prevalent tumor in Chinese men, and surgery is currently the most important treatment. Billroth II and Roux-en-Y are the anastomosis methods used for reconstruction after gastrectomy. Jejunal intussusception is a rare complication after gastric surgery. Main Body Intussusception after gastric surgery occurs mostly at the gastrojejunostomy site for Billroth II reconstruction, and the Y-anastomosis site for Roux-en-Y reconstruction. Many studies have reported that postoperative intussusception appears at the anastomosis after bariatric surgery, while a few have reported intussusception at the anastomosis and its distal end after radical gastrectomy. Conclusion A review was carried out to analyze intussusception after radical gastrectomy with roux-en-y anastomosis during the current situation. And the relevant mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment methods, etc. are described, hoping to provide better guidance for clinicians

Paediatric Postoperative Intussusception

Intussusception is one of the common causes of acute abdomen in early childhood, particularly in children younger than two years of age. The majority of cases in children are idiopathic. Pathologic lead points can be identified in only 25 percent of cases. Here. we present a case of 15 months female child with Ileoileal postoperative intussusception with an anastomotic margin as a lead point, following resection anastomosis done for patent vitello intestinal duct. Role of high clinical suspicion, investigations and judgement are highlighted in managing the case.Keywords: Anastomosis; ileoileal; postoperative intussusception; patent vitello-intestinal duct.

Jejunogastric intussusception as complication of gastric surgery

Intussusception in adults is a very rare entity that occurs in only 5% of all intestinal obstructions. Most often, in 66% of cases, intussusception is localized to the small intestine, while jejunogastric intussusception is very rare and occurs in 0,1%. Since the first case of jejunogastric intussusception after gastrojejunostomy was described by Bozzi in 1914, fewer than 200 isolated cases of postoperative intussusception after gastric surgery have been reported.Here we present a case of anterograde jejunogastric intussusception, 15 years after radical subtotal gastrectomy with Billroth II anastomosis in a 71-year-old man.
