Swedish non-public diplomacy during World War II on the example of the activities of M. Wallenberg Jr.

This article examines the role of Marcus Wallenberg Jr., a prominent financier and industrialist, one of the leaders of the financial and industrial group of the Wallenberg family, in the foreign policy of Sweden on the eve of and during World War II. Having concentrated in his hands the main threads of influence on the industry and the financial sphere of the kingdom, Marcus Wallenberg was unofficially involved in the development of the foreign policy of the kingdom, which sought to be out of direct involvement in the war. The article examines various contacts with representatives of the opposing sides, carries out with the active participation of this banker and industrialist, both as part of official delegations and as individuals – the main focus is on establishing interaction between the USSR and Finland in 1943-1944, as well as cooperation with the Allies – Britain and the United States. The article also analyses the non-institutionalised regular contacts of Marcus Wallenberg Jr. with the political leadership of Sweden during 1938-1945, including the difficulties faced by the financial and industrial group under his control in the period immediately after the end of World War II.

Study of the Effect of Risk Management Application on the Performance of Giad industrial Group

Risk management is particularly important at the present time and constitute a new approach in firms, has seen all industries acceleration and great changes in recent years, in order to benefit from risk management to provide protection for firms and continuity performance its activities should provide the critical success factors for risk management. The research problem is represented in the role of risk management on the performance of industrial firms in Sudan, the research aims to deepen the understanding of risk management and its application to firms and to know the reasons that led to the failure and faltering of the performance of these firms as well as finding appropriate solutions ,The researcher used the descriptive-analytical method in conducting this study and designed a questionnaire as the main tool for data collection, This research develops through the assumption that there is a positive relationship between risk management and the performance of the firm where the study found that risk management practices are applied in moderate proportions by the leaders and employees of the Sudanese industrial firms and dominated by the reactive method rather than proactive, One of the most important recommendations of the study is that industrial organizations have to adopt effective systems for managing organizational risks and that they be monitored and reviewed for deviations in order to be in line with the strategy of the firm.

Bilateral symmetry of linear streptomycete chromosomes

Here, we characterize an uncommon set of telomeres from Streptomyces rimosus ATCC 10970, the parental strain of a lineage of one of the earliest-discovered antibiotic producers. Following the closure of its genome sequence, we compared unusual telomeres from this organism with the other five classes of replicon ends found amongst streptomycetes. Closed replicons of streptomycete chromosomes were organized with respect to their phylogeny and physical orientation, which demonstrated that different telomeres were not associated with particular clades and are likely shared amongst different strains by plasmid-driven horizontal gene transfer. Furthermore, we identified a ~50 kb origin island with conserved synteny that is located at the core of all streptomycete chromosomes and forms an axis around which symmetrical chromosome inversions can take place. Despite this chromosomal bilateral symmetry, a bias in parS sites to the right of oriC is maintained across the family Streptomycetaceae and suggests that the formation of ParB/parS nucleoprotein complexes on the right replichore is a conserved feature in streptomycetes. Consequently, our studies reveal novel features of linear bacterial replicons that, through their manipulation, may lead to improvements in growth and productivity of this important industrial group of bacteria.

Lean Six Sigma for the improvement of company processes: the Schnell S.p.A. case study

PurposeThe aim of this study is to develop an in-depth case study on the implementation on Lean six sigma (LSS) in Schnell S.p.A., Italian company leader of an important multinational industrial group, highlighting the benefits that can be achieved from a careful application of this method, the main challenges and organizational learning from its implementation.Design/methodology/approachThe study has been developed with a qualitative approach, creating a single in-depth case study, with the participant observation of researchers in the project which lasted 4 months. Periodic weekly meetings were done with the working group to exchange feedback on the development of the project to share opinions and data.FindingsA project has been developed to stabilize the procurement process of a pull-type production cell, which experienced delays in supply lead times. The causes of the problems in their process of managing the supply of the production cell were found and some inefficiencies in the internal process of fulfillment of supply orders have been intercepted, the optimization of which has allowed the generation of an automatic system for sending supply orders, coming directly from the production line.Originality/valueThis study described the path and dynamics of the transformation process that business organizations undertake for optimizing their profitability and competitive advantage, placing emphasis on an innovative methodology for conducting business process improvement projects, which constitutes its operating philosophy on the effective and efficient use of company resources and skills, to guarantee to the company the achievement of a lasting and defensible competitive advantage over time.

FOCSE: CNES Exploration contributions for Operations and Innovation

<p>In 2017, CNES has enforced its visibility and ambitions in Scientific exploration programs by creating the FOCSE (French Operations Centre for Science and Exploration) center. FOCSE groups all the Science Operations activities, including ground segment development, operations and data valorization for the domains involved in the Scientific exploration including Astrophysics & Fundamental Physics, Planets, Small bodies & Solar Physics and Human Spaceflight (Nutrition, Healthcare, Life Science, …). This gives an advantage increasing synergy and commonalities between the different missions and allowing operational people to focus only on what makes each mission original and specific.</p> <p> </p> <p>FOCSE integrates the CADMOS Centre created in 1993, the COMS (Planets Mission centers), Astronomy & Solar systems mission in order to implement a synergetic merge of science in astronomy, solar systems, microgravity and space exploration (robotic and manned). As an example of synergy, we will present the FOCSE Moons & small bodies facility that will be set up for Cubesats activities within the frame of ESA’s planetary defense HERA mission and also in support to JAXA’s MMX mission. This effort will capitalize on our expertise based on our contributions to Rosetta/Philae and Hayabusa2/Mascot on Mission Analysis and visualizing tools to support Scientific activities. We will also present the Spaceship project that has started in coordination with ESA to contribute to the development of technologies for exploration.</p> <p> </p> <p>More recently, CNES proposes to set up a new innovation Lab facility, based on an immersive and open facility for innovation on exploration technologies. Technologies of interests have been identified and will be developed with our partners and also with new actors, in order to allow dynamic spin in and spin off approaches for Exploration technologies. Thanks to this new facility, CNES will provide technical means to create new, innovative, disruptive systems, gather assets from Research, Universities and Industries (from startup to large industrial group) into the same melting-pot, foster collaboration between partners and CNES experts in all space sciences/technologies and operations and join international network of spaceships.</p> <p> </p> <p>The CNES roadmap on Science is defined, the Technological part of this roadmap will be expanded with new Technological opportunities. The proposed paper will present an overview of the CNES strategy and how we implement it on a kind of “DevOps” approach to accelerate and innovate as much as possible, including also a digital factory platform, with the main idea to federate to the network of French Exploration actors (means and expertise) to enforce synergies with ESA and international partners in order to contribute to future Exploration missions.</p> <p> </p>

Exploring the diversity of endophytic fungi and screening for their pullulanase-producing capabilities

Background Pullulanases are the significant industrial group in the 13 glycosyl hydrolases category, known as the α-amylases family. There are very few reports on pullulanase from fungal sources. Based on the above research gap, the present study was undertaken to explore the endophytic fungi for their pullulanase-producing capabilities. Results A total of 126 endophytes were isolated from Tradescantia pallida, Zea mays, and Trifolium alexandrinum. Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Ganoderma species recovered highest from the stem of Tradescantia palida. Fusarium was dominant in the stem and leaf of Zea mays. Penicillium, Aspergillus, Ganoderma, Cladosporium, Fusarium, and Alternaria were recovered from the Trifolium alexandrium. The Shannon index in Tradescantia pallida was highest in leaves while in Zea mays and Trifolium alexandrinum, it is highest in the stem. The Simpson’s index is highest in the case of Zea mays stem and root. Species richness was indicated by Menhinick’s index, and it was found that this value was highest in the roots of Trifolium alexandrinum. As per our knowledge, no comparative data is available on the endophytic diversity of the above plants taken for the study. Out of 126 endophytes, only 2.38% produced pullulanase while 7.94% produced amylase. The recovery of pullulanase-producing endophytic fungi was very less. But the importance of pullulanase is high as compared to amylase because it has both α-1,6 and α-1,4 hydrolyzing ability. Therefore, the most promising isolates were identified by ITS sequence analysis. Based on spore chain morphology, isolates BHU-25 and BHU-30 were identified as Penicillium sp. and Aspergillus species, respectively. This is the first report of pullulanase from endophytic Aspergillus and Penicillium. Conclusion Endophytes Aspergillus sp. and Penicillium sp. produce pullulanase enzyme. This is the first report of pullulanase from endophytic Aspergillus and Penicillium.

Case overview/synopsis Al Junaid Industrial group is a small to medium-sized HVAC manufacturing company created over 12 years ago, in the United Arab Emirates. It has a production line company in the Sharjah industrial area with a capacity of 5,000 ft. The company not only manufactures air conditioning and its accessories but also provides installation and maintenance services. As for its international connections, it imports raw materials such as aluminum and exports air conditioning grills and accessories, offering installation services to many destinations, including Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and the Gulf Cooperation Council. The company has recently suffered a setback due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020 its net revenue and profits decreased by an average of 40%. As a result, Al Junaid Industrial group currently faces several internal and external challenges affecting its business performance such as high operating expenses, low market demand and stiff competition. Due to these challenges, this case study argues that Mr. Obaid Al Junaid, the Chief Executive Officer, should develop a new marketing strategy aimed at raising revenues to levels closer to those observed before the onset of the epidemic. Complexity academic level This case could be used in undergraduate and graduate classes of the business management field, as well as in development programs for managers in small to medium-sized enterprises (SME). Students (final year students of an undergraduate program for a bachelor’s degree) are expected to have a basic knowledge of Strategic management and business in general. The role and motivation of a teachers in the teaching and learning process case study at the technical high schools, vocational group of industry (thsv-gi) becora-dili, Timor-Leste

This thesis is entitled, "The Role and Motivation of a Teacher in the Teaching and Learning Process with a Case Study at the technical high schools, vocational group of industry (THSV-GI) becora-dili,". The purpose of this study was to find out how the teaching duties and learning motivation of the THSV-GI Becora-Dili Industrial Vocational School students during the teaching and learning process and improving the quality of student learning. References from various articles, the internet, as well as some information from all informants (interviewers) were used in this study to increase the knowledge of the author in writing this thesis. The author uses qualitative research methods to describe the results of research to determine the importance of a teacher's task and learning motivation for students of the Technical high schools, vocational group of industry (THSV-GI) Becora-Dili, during the learning and learning process. Regarding the learning process in this study there were six (6) respondents. The instruments used in data collection were; observation, interview, documentation and researchers use six question indicators to interview directly. From the results of the existing research, the researcher concluded that the task of a teacher and learning motivation for students of the THSV-GI Becora-Dili Industrial Group during the teaching and learning process is very important because students can further improve their abilities. Their independent learning about the learning given by the teacher with different methods, they can get good grades and as qualified students about engineering.
