The education of future teachers is going through a crisis related to audiovisual education. Following what is known as the 2015–2030 Agenda, the world of education is being confronted with a new learning model that must respond to the proposals of the Sustainable Development Goals—SDGs. In this article, we want to emphasize the need for training future teachers to meet the new needs of media education, taking into account the increasing importance of sustainable development of children in relation to audiovisual media to maintain their welfare, skills and future prospects. For this reason, the objective of the study is to collect the perceptions of 278 future schoolteachers about the significance of audiovisual education and their own training on the subject, the socio-educational objectives of audiovisual tools, their positioning regarding audiovisual methodology and the concept of communication. Two ad-hoc questionnaires with an ex-post-facto design were used. The findings showed that a reduced percentage of students felt they had received full audiovisual training. Nevertheless, over half of the future schoolteachers considered their work in the classroom to be important for social and educational ends, both from a theoretical and a practical viewpoint. We believe it is necessary to provide audiovisual education to future schoolteachers based on students’ interests and needs.

Abstract: Training in the management of audiovisual languages should be basic as part of the individual's literacy in general education in contemporary societies due to the pre-eminence of these in today's world. In fact, to get competency in using symbolic systems of one's own cultural is central to the education of individuals and communities. Thus, since the implementation of the last educational legislation in Spain, audiovisual language is content in primary education, where it appears as part of the artistic education program. In spite of this inclusion as content, it is not taught effectively in the schools basically because there are no teaching hours for it. Due to this circumstance, learning occurs spontaneously and autonomously informally. Audiovisuals integrate several artistic languages with specific grammars conceived as a whole. From this perspective are unitary cultural products, whose study should be focused as such. For this, it is interesting to resort to the multimodal analysis that has emerged as a form of knowledge and analysis in contexts of multiple simultaneous narratives. This article reflects on this situation and presents some innovative audiovisual training experiences for the period from six to twelve years. In this period the acquisition of literacy in the languages of contemporary society takes place.   Keywords: Audiovisual education, primary education, innovative programs, art education, multimodal analysis.   DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.7203/eari.10.13933

Journalism is in a state of perpetual change due to the implementation of technological tools on an everyday basis. In the contemporary news distribution environment, the boundaries between media are no longer distinct, therefore media/journalism educational institutions should adapt curricula according to the needs of each type of medium. The aim of this paper is to present the incorporated technologies in the radio journalism undergraduate course of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and evaluate their necessity according to the students themselves. After the completion of the course, which involves the use of specialized technological tools in audio recording and editing, a survey employing quantitative method based on the technology acceptance model was conducted. The results indicate that the students, despite the difficulties that were encountered due to the initial lack of knowledge on the technology applied, evaluated very highly both their satisfaction with the produced outcome and the usefulness of the procedure. In fact, the major result is that perceived usefulness is a key factor that determines the utilization of specialized technology.
