Abstract We develop covariant chiral kinetic theory with Landau level basis. We use it to investigate a magnetized plasma with a transverse electric field and a steady vorticity as perturbations. After taking into account vacuum shift in the latter case, we find the resulting current and stress tensor in both cases can be matched consistently with constitutive equations of magnetohydrodynamics. We find the solution in the vorticity case contains both shifts in temperature and chemical potential as well as excitations of the lowest Landau level states. The solution gives rise to an vector charge density and axial current density. The vacuum parts coming from both shifts and excitations agree with previous studies and the medium parts coming entirely from excitations leads to a new contribution to vector charge and axial current density consistent with standard chiral vortical effect.

We examine the extraction of moments of parton distributions from lattice data, focusing in particular on the chiral extrapolation as a function of the quark mass. Inclusion of the correct chiral behavior of the spin-averaged isovector distribution resolves a long-standing discrepancy between the lattice moments and experiment. We extract the x-dependence of the valence u - d distribution from the lowest few lattice moments, and discuss the implications for the quark mass dependence of meson masses lying on the a2 Regge trajectory. The role of chiral symmetry in spin-dependent distributions, and in particular the lattice axial vector charge, gA, is also highlighted.

The recent suggestion of a vanishing flavor-singlet axial-charge of nucleon due to a nontrivial vacuum structure is further amplified. A perturbative QCD discussion, applicable for the heavy quark contributions, relates it to the physics of the decoupling theorem. It is also shown that [Formula: see text] leads to a negative η′-meson-quark coupling, which has been found to be compatible with the chiral quark model phenomenology.

We study the Kl3 decays and show that a large isospin breaking effect is present in experimental data of Kµ3. From the Kµ3 and Ke3 rates, we determine the following weighted averages values: [Formula: see text][Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] being the vector charge of the weak transition K→π.
