Flavor is one of the main factors involved in consumer meat-purchasing decision and use of natural antioxidants in animal feeding had a great appeal for consumers. The aim of this trial is to evaluate the effect of Pinus taeda hydrolyzed lignin (PTHL) feed addition on oxidative stability, volatile compounds characteristics, and sensory attributes of 35 days dry-aged beef steaks. Forty steer six months old were randomly divided into a control group (CON; n = 20) and an experimental group (PTHL; n = 20). Both groups were fed ad libitum for 120 days with the same TMR and only the PTHL group received PTHL supplement. Samples of LT muscle were removed from carcasses and dry aged for 35 days at 2 °C, 82% of humidity, and 0.4 m/s of ventilation and then analyzed. Meat of CON group showed lower yellowness (p < 0.01) and higher TBARS (p < 0.01) values. Moreover, CON meat showed higher volatile aldehydes and lower sulfur compounds (p < 0.01), with higher unpleasant odor (p < 0.05) and meaty odor (p < 0.01) score revealed by sensory assessors. PTHL inclusion in beef diet delayed the oxidative mechanisms in 35 days dry-aged steaks, resulting in an improved colorimetric, volatolomic, and sensory profile.

The problem of improving the environmental safety of the waste management system of chemical processing of biomass of wood is quite acute in every forest producing and timber processing region. Study of the possibility of using to investigate hydrolytic lignin as a modifier of phenol-formaldehyde resin for the production of plywood have been conducted. Used materials: phenol-formaldehyde resin SFZh-3013; technical hydrolyzed lignin. Mathematical models of the process of pressing glued plywood were developed and the optimal parameters for the production of plywood were determined based on the use of SFZh-3013 resin modified with hydrolytic lignin. The optimal mode of pressing is: the amount of injected hydrolytic lignin in the SFZh-3013 resin grade is 5-10 parts by weight; pressing pressure 1.6 MPa, pressing temperature 135 °C and pressing time 9-10 minutes. The introduction of regimes developed using regression equations, with a sufficient degree of accuracy describing the pressing process, will significantly improve the efficiency of plywood production by saving energy and material costs and preserving product quality.

Coke breeze is a special type of fossil fuel that significantly contributes to environmental pollution. Therefore, ways and opportunities to reduce its negative impact on climate change are being sought. Alternative fuels constitute one of the opportunities where biomass can play an important role. Biomass represents a new fuel for the sintering process and an attractive way to decrease CO2 emissions. Today, biomass is not considered for complete substitution of coke. Opportunities for its partial substitution are instead being sought. Each type of fuel is characterized by different properties and thus also by an appropriate scope of its substitution in an agglomeration mixture. This study covers the available options and the potential impact of this substitution on the structural and mineralogical composition of the agglomerate. These experiments were carried out by substituting coke breeze with biomass (hydrolyzed lignin). To perform the experimental sintering, a sintering apparatus—laboratory sintering pan (LSP)—was used, which was fully equipped with measuring devices and analyzers. The samples of agglomerates prepared by substituting 0%, 20%, 50% and 86% of coke breeze with biomass (hydrolyzed lignin) in dried form were analyzed by chemical and microscopic analysis-The representation of individual minerals in agglomerates was determined by powder X-ray diffraction analysis. Based on the results of the study regarding the impact of partial coke substitution with biomass on the mineralogical composition of the agglomerate, it can be stated that it is possible to substitute about 50% of coke with lignin in the sintering process. When lignin was used to substitute up to 50% of coke, agglomerates with minimal variations in the chemical and mineralogical composition were produced.

The article investigated the compositions of road-building materials containing screenings of rock crushing, Portland cement, hydrolyzed lignin, modified by the stabilizing additive “Element”. The road-building compositions containing screenings of rock crushing, Portland cement, hydrolyzed lignin modified with the stabilizing additive "Element" were investigated. The optimal content of raw materials has been established, which allows to obtain soil-cements with a strength mark of at least M 60 - M 75. Using a model experiment, it was shown that the stabilizing additive “Element” is active and can interact with each of component of the raw materials. Using the methods of scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray phase analysis, it has been experimentally shown that the processes of hydration, carbonization and increasing the connectivity of orthosilicate anions play a significant role in the structure formation of soil-cements.

The article deals with the peculiarities of complex expert research of lignin, since knowledge of the forensic and chemical and forensic examinations was required. It was noted that in the microscopic study, all of the samples submitted for research revealed small particles of brown wood with different shades and brown conglomerates. The maceration method investigated specially processed samples of the substances provided. A qualitative reaction to lignin revealed the presence of molecules provided for the study of substances, the conifer aldehyde group and the structural chain that is characteristic of lignin. Qualitative reactions revealed that iron, calcium, magnesium, aluminum and sulfate ions were identified in all lignin samples, which characterizing qualitative composition of vegetable raw materials. It has been determined that further studies of lignin should be carried out in a well-established manner, namely: determination of carbon content; quantitative determination of solids and hygroscopic moisture; determination of ash content; determination of the quantitative content of calcium; quantitative determination of magnesium; determination of quantitative content of iron.
