Abstract The first part of this paper is a generalization of the Feix–Kaledin theorem on the existence of a hyperkähler metric on a neighborhood of the zero section of the cotangent bundle of a Kähler manifold. We show that the problem of constructing a hyperkähler structure on a neighborhood of a complex Lagrangian submanifold in a holomorphic symplectic manifold reduces to the existence of certain deformations of holomorphic symplectic structures. The Feix–Kaledin structure is recovered from the twisted cotangent bundle. We then show that every holomorphic symplectic groupoid over a compact holomorphic Poisson surface of Kähler type has a hyperkähler structure on a neighborhood of its identity section. More generally, we reduce the existence of a hyperkähler structure on a symplectic realization of a holomorphic Poisson manifold of any dimension to the existence of certain deformations of holomorphic Poisson structures adapted from Hitchin’s unobstructedness theorem.

AbstractThe notion of a Joyce structure was introduced in Bridgeland (Geometry from Donaldson–Thomas invariants, preprint arXiv:1912.06504) to describe the geometric structure on the space of stability conditions of a $$\hbox {CY}_3$$ CY 3 category naturally encoded by the Donaldson-Thomas invariants. In this paper we show that a Joyce structure on a complex manifold defines a complex hyperkähler structure on the total space of its tangent bundle, and give a characterisation of the resulting hyperkähler metrics in geometric terms.

In this article, we give an analytic construction of ALF hyperkähler metrics on smooth deformations of the Kleinian singularity $\mathbb{C}^{2}/{\mathcal{D}}_{k}$, with ${\mathcal{D}}_{k}$ the binary dihedral group of order $4k$, $k\geqslant 2$. More precisely, we start from the ALE hyperkähler metrics constructed on these spaces by Kronheimer, and use analytic methods, e.g. resolution of a Monge–Ampère equation, to produce ALF hyperkähler metrics with the same associated Kähler classes.

Abstract We show that the regular Slodowy slice to the sum of two semisimple adjoint orbits of GL(n, ℂ) is isomorphic to the deformation of the D2-singularity if n = 2, the Dancer deformation of the double cover of the Atiyah-Hitchin manifold if n = 3, and to the Atiyah-Hitchin manifold itself if n = 4. For higher n, such slices to the sum of two orbits, each having only two distinct eigenvalues, are either empty or biholomorphic to open subsets of the Hilbert scheme of points on one of the above surfaces. In particular, these open subsets of Hilbert schemes of points carry complete hyperkähler metrics. In the case of the double cover of the Atiyah-Hitchin manifold this metric turns out to be the natural L2-metric on a hyperkähler submanifold of the monopole moduli space.

Let $X$ be a compact 4-manifold with boundary. We study the space of hyperkähler triples $\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}_{1},\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}_{2},\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}_{3}$ on $X$, modulo diffeomorphisms which are the identity on the boundary. We prove that this moduli space is a smooth infinite-dimensional manifold and describe the tangent space in terms of triples of closed anti-self-dual 2-forms. We also explore the corresponding boundary value problem: a hyperkähler triple restricts to a closed framing of the bundle of 2-forms on the boundary; we identify the infinitesimal deformations of this closed framing that can be filled in to hyperkähler deformations of the original triple. Finally we study explicit examples coming from gravitational instantons with isometric actions of $\text{SU}(2)$.
