An effective matrix model for dynamical end of the world branes in Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity

We study Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity with dynamical end of the world branes in asymptotically nearly AdS2 spacetimes. We quantize this theory in Lorentz signature, and compute the Euclidean path integral summing over topologies including dynamical branes. The latter will be seen to exactly match with a modification of the SSS matrix model. The resolution of UV divergences in the gravitational instantons involving the branes will lead us to understand the matrix model interpretation of the Wilsonian effective theory perspective on the gravitational theory. We complete this modified SSS matrix model nonperturbatively by extending the integration contour of eigenvalues into the complex plane. Furthermore, we give a new interpretation of other phases in such matrix models. We derive an effective W(Φ) dilaton gravity, which exhibits similar physics semiclassically. In the limit of a large number of flavors of branes, the effective extremal entropy S0,eff has the form of counting the states of these branes.

A complementary covariant approach to gravito-electromagnetism

From a previous paper where we proposed a description of general relativity within the gravito-electromagnetic limit, we propose an alternative modified gravitational theory. As in the former version, we analyze the vector and tensor equations of motion, the gravitational continuity equation, the conservation of the energy, the energy-momentum tensor, the field tensor, and the constraints concerning these fields. The Lagrangian formulation is also exhibited as an unified and simple formulation that will be useful for future investigation.

A gravitational action with stringy Q and R fluxes via deformed differential graded Poisson algebras

We study a deformation of a 2-graded Poisson algebra where the functions of the phase space variables are complemented by linear functions of parity odd velocities. The deformation is carried by a 2-form B-field and a bivector Π, that we consider as gauge fields of the geometric and non-geometric fluxes H, f, Q and R arising in the context of string theory compactification. The technique used to deform the Poisson brackets is widely known for the point particle interacting with a U(1) gauge field, but not in the case of non-abelian or higher spin fields. The construction is closely related to Generalized Geometry: with an element of the algebra that squares to zero, the graded symplectic picture is equivalent to an exact Courant algebroid over the generalized tangent bundle E ≅ TM ⊕ T∗M, and to its higher gauge theory. A particular idempotent graded canonical transformation is equivalent to the generalized metric. Focusing on the generalized differential geometry side we construct an action functional with the Ricci tensor of a connection on covectors, encoding the dynamics of a gravitational theory for a contravariant metric tensor and Q and R fluxes. We also extract a connection on vector fields and determine a non-symmetric metric gravity theory involving a metric and H-flux.

Hyperbolically symmetric sources in Palatini f(R) gravity

A thorough examination of static hyperbolically symmetric matter configuration in the context of Palatini f(R) gravitational theory has been carried out in this manuscript. Following the work of Herrera et al. (Phys. Rev. D 103: 024037, 2021) we worked out the modified gravitational equations and matching conditions using the Palatini technique of variation in Einstein–Hilbert action. It is found from the evaluations that the energy density along with the contribution of dark source terms is inevitably negative which is quite useful in explaining several quantum field effects, because negative energies are closely linked with the quantum field theory. Such negative energies may also assist in time-travel to the past and formation of artificial wormholes. Furthermore, we evaluated the algebraic expressions for the mass of interior hyperbolical geometry and total energy budget, i.e., the Tolman mass of the considered source. Also, the structure scalars are evaluated to analyze the properties of matter configuration. Few analytical techniques are also presented by considering several cases to exhibit the exact analytical static solutions of the modified gravitational equations.

Affine connection representation of gauge fields

There are two ways to unify gravitational field and gauge field. One is to represent gravitational field asprincipal bundle connection, and the other is to represent gauge field as affine connection. Poincaré gauge theoryand metric-affine gauge theory adopt the first approach. This paper adopts the second. In this approach:(i) Gauge field and gravitational field can both be represented by affine connection; they can be described by aunified spatial frame.(ii) Time can be regarded as the total metric with respect to all dimensions of internal coordinate space andexternal coordinate space. On-shell can be regarded as gradient direction. Quantum theory can be regarded as ageometric theory of distribution of gradient directions. Hence, gauge theory, gravitational theory, and quantumtheory all reflect intrinsic geometric properties of manifold.(iii) Coupling constants, chiral asymmetry, PMNS mixing and CKM mixing arise spontaneously as geometricproperties in affine connection representation, so they are not necessary to be regarded as direct postulates in theLagrangian anymore.(iv) The unification theory of gauge fields that are represented by affine connection can avoid the problem thata proton decays into a lepton in theories such as SU(5).(v) There exists a geometric interpretation to the color confinement of quarks.In the affine connection representation, we can get better interpretations to the above physical properties,therefore, to represent gauge fields by affine connection is probably a necessary step towards the ultimate theory ofphysics.

The (2+1) dimensional metric f (R) gravity non-minimally coupled with fermion field

In this article, we examine a gravitational theory including a fermion field that is non-minimally coupled to metric f (R) gravity in (2+1) dimensions. We give the field equations for fermion fields and Friedmann equations. In this context, we study cosmological solutions of the field equations using these forms obtained by the existent of Noether symmetry.

Quantum error correction and holographic information from bilocal holography

Bilocal holography is a constructive approach to the higher spin theory holographically dual to O(N ) vector models. In contrast to other approaches to bulk reconstruction, bilocal holography does not take input from the dual gravitational theory. The resulting map is a complete bulk/boundary mapping in that it maps the complete set of O(N ) invariant degrees of freedom in the CFT, to the complete set of higher spin degrees of freedom. After restricting to a suitable code subspace we demonstrate that bilocal holography naturally reproduces the quantum error correcting properties of holography and it gives a robust bulk (entanglement wedge) reconstruction. A gauge invariant entangled pair of CFT degrees of freedom are naturally smeared over a semicircle in the bulk spacetime, which is highly suggestive of bit threads. Finally, we argue that finite N relations in the CFT, when interpreted in the dual AdS spacetime, can provide relations between degrees of freedom located near the boundary and degrees of freedom deep in the bulk.

Extracting Einstein from the loop-level double-copy

The naive double-copy of (multi) loop amplitudes involving massive matter coupled to gauge theories will generically produce amplitudes in a gravitational theory that contains additional contributions from propagating antisymmetric tensor and dilaton states even at tree-level. We present a graph-based approach that combines the method of maximal cuts with double-copy construction to offer a systematic framework to isolate the pure Einstein-Hilbert gravitational contributions through loop level. Indeed this allows for a bootstrap of pure-gravitational results from the double-copy of massive scalar-QCD. We apply this to construct the novel result of the D-dimensional one-loop five-point QFT integrand relevant in the classical limit to generating observables associated with the radiative effects of massive black-hole scattering via pure Einstein-Hilbert gravity.

On the gravitational dual to strongly coupled fluids

This thesis discusses the prospect of finding the gravitational dual to the strongly coupled conformal fluids, with a special interest in the quark-gluon plasma. Such a task can be achieved by matching certain physical observables of two apparently different theories that are dually related owing to the fact that the same string theory can be viewed in two different ways. This is particularly useful when one of the theories is intractable while its dual is manageable. We begin by postulating a particular type of gravitational theory from which we determine graviton scattering amplitudes in a special regime of high momentum. Using the gauge–gravity duality dictionary, the graviton scattering amplitudes can be mapped to stress-tensor correlation functions in the gauge theory. One of the outcomes of high-energy scattering experiments involving the quark-gluon plasma is stress-tensor correlator data. This thesis provides an algorithm for matching graviton scattering amplitudes with stress-tensor correlator data which, in principle, can be used to identify the gravitational dual to the quark-gluon plasma.
