A square root information filter for multi-GNSS real-time precise clock estimation

Real-time satellite orbit and clock estimations are the prerequisite for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) real-time precise positioning services. To meet the high-rate update requirement of satellite clock corrections, the computational efficiency is a key factor and a challenge due to the rapid development of multi-GNSS constellations. The Square Root Information Filter (SRIF) is widely used in real-time GNSS data processing thanks to its high numerical stability and computational efficiency. In real-time clock estimation, the outlier detection and elimination are critical to guarantee the precision and stability of the product but could be time-consuming. In this study, we developed a new quality control procedure including the three standard steps: i.e., detection, identification, and adaption, for real-time data processing of huge GNSS networks. Effort is made to improve the computational efficiency by optimizing the algorithm to provide only the essential information required in the processing, so that it can be applied in real-time and high-rate estimation of satellite clocks. The processing procedure is implemented in the PANDA (Positioning and Navigation Data Analyst) software package and evaluated in the operational generation of real-time GNSS orbit and clock products. We demonstrated that the new algorithm can efficiently eliminate outliers, and a clock precision of 0.06 ns, 0.24 ns, 0.06 ns, and 0.11 ns can be achieved for the GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BDS-2 IGSO/MEO satellites, respectively. The computation time per epoch is about 2 to 3 s depending on the number of existing outliers. Overall, the algorithm can satisfy the IGS real-time clock estimation in terms of both the computational efficiency and product quality.

Practical Implementation of New Algorithm for Restricting Data Fusion in Cloud Computing with Use of Information Kalman Filtering

These days’ lots of technologies migrate from traditional systems into cloud and similar technologies; also we should note that cloud can be used for military and civilian purposes [3]. On the other hand, in such a large scale networks we should consider the reliability and powerfulness of such networks in facing with events such as high amount of users that may login to their profiles simultaneously, or for example if we have the ability to predict about what times that we would have the most crowd in network, or even users prefer to use which part of the Cloud Computing more than other parts – which software or hardware configuration. With knowing such information, we can avoid accidental crashing or hanging of the network that may be cause by logging of too much users. In this paper we propose Kalman Filter that can be used for estimating the amounts of users and software’s that run on cloud computing or other similar platforms at a certain time. After introducing this filter, at the end of paper, we talk about some potentials of this filter in cloud computing platform. In this paper we demonstrate about how we can use Kalman filter in estimating and predicting of our target, by the means of several examples on Kalman filter. Also at the end of paper we propose information filter for estimation and prediction about cloud computing resources.

CubeSat formation architecture for small space debris surveillance and orbit determination

Introduction: Satellites which face space debris cannot track it throughout the whole orbit due to natural limitations of their optical sensors, sush as field of view, Earth occultation, or solar illumination. Besides, the time of continuous observations is usually very short. Therefore, we are trying to offer the most effective configuration of optical sensors in order to provide short-arc tracking of a target piece of debris, using a scalable Extended Information Filter. Purpose: The best scenario for short-arc tracking of a space debris orbit using multipoint optical sensors. Results: We have found optimal configurations for groups of satellites with optical sensors which move along a sun-synchronous orbit. Debris orbit determination using an Extended Information Filter and measurements from multipoint sensors was simulated, and mean squared errors of the target's position were calculated. Based on the simulation results for variouos configurations, inter-satellite distances and measurement time, the most reliable scenario (four satellites in tetrahedral configuration) was found and recommended for practical use in short-arc debris tracking.

Application of Cubature Information Filter for Underwater Target Path Estimation

Bearings-only tracking plays a pivotal role in passive underwater surveillance. Using noisy sonar bearing measurements, the target motion parameters (TMP) are extensively estimated using the extended Kalman filter (EKF) because of its simplicity and low computational load. The EKF utilizes the first order approximation of the nonlinear system in estimation of the TMP that degrades the accuracy of estimation due to the elimination of the higher order terms. In this paper, the cubature Kalman filter (CKF) that captures the system nonlinearity upto third order is proposed to estimate the TMP. The CKF is further extended using the information filter (IF) to provide decentralized data fusion, hence the filter is termed as cubature information filter (CIF). The results are generated using Matlab with Gaussian assumption of noise in measurements. Monte-Carlo simulation is done and the results demonstrate that the CIF accuracy is same as that of UKF and this indicates the usefulness of the algorithm for state estimation in underwater with the required accuracy.
