The development of digital technologies has opened up new opportunities for e-learning in higher education. These technologies include cloud computing, which promises a scalable and reliable computing environment for both staff and students. This has not only changed the teaching, learning, and research environment, but also affected the way IT support services must now operate in the university sector. This chapter investigates the adoption of cloud computing in higher education through a case study of a major UK university and focuses on how this has affected the IT support function. The benefits and challenges of implementing cloud computing are explored, using questionnaires and interviews to generate data and analysis. The chapter concludes that cloud migration is a complex undertaking requiring a robust strategy that pays due attention to a wide range of issues, notably security concerns and the need for reskilling and the development of new support roles.

This research explores critical aspects of procurement of ICT cloud services for South Australian public sector organisations with the case of South Australia Police (SAPOL) for evaluation. SAPOL as one of the state government agencies at the time is initiating this transition to the cloud environment. This exploratory research takes place when this public sector agency is doing its due diligence to ensure a successful implementation. In this study the researcher started off with surfacing the challenges in this journey for a public sector organisation before the actual journey commenced. SAPOL being a public sector organisation operates differently from private enterprises and has certain constraints and limitations that pose additional challenges for the organisation to transition towards the cloud. Interview with the CIO of the organisation responsible for the cloud migration initiative was organised. After detailed literature review, an interview questionnaire was prepared in accordance with the subject of interest. The information gathered in the interviews was recorded for detailed analysis. This paper contains a detailed report on the information analysed highlighting fourteen important challenges faced by the organisation in this cloud migration journey.

Over time, the importance of information and the need to use it are increased. Cloud computing provides data and computing resources to clients as a service. However, cloud computing provides to the end user computing recourses such as software, hardware, and information as a service through the available interface over the Internet to be with more advantages to make the information available and accessible whenever is needed, by using the cloud computing services offers these services. The main purpose of this literature review paper is to develop an understanding of cloud computing adoption. Moreover, this paper forms the basis of our theoretical study. In particular, we review the state of the art of cloud computing and discuss about it aspects and features. In addition, we provide a set of cloud readiness criteria and review cloud migration in some countries that have already shifted to cloud. In this paper, we investigate the readiness to provide cloud services locally, as well as the chances and challenges of combining cloud services with existing infrastructure. Furthermore, the telecom sector infrastructure is suitable to provide cloud services, as the first step to provide the cloud into the network infrastructure of such providers, enabling and enhancing the telecom sector services and infrastructure.

The cloud can solve many problems like scalability of the business, flexibility of the business, cost and performance that may come across while running an enterprise. In fact, by digital transformation, fixed costs may get reduced, a more flexible allocation of resources is possible, faster development of the enterprise is resulted, worldwide reach is through the cloud highly appreciable, a safer change control process, and faster time-to-market with objectively better products. Even though it promises many benefits, it is not an easy task to migrate to cloud platform from a current conventional business platform. Cloud migration introduces its own issues. While looking for migrating business from on-premises to cloud, many challenges should be kept in mind for successful migration. Keywords: Cloud migration, digital transformation

Due to the rapid growth of computing resources over the past years, cloud computing has been treated as a prominent research field and this technology appeared as a new solution in the IT field. Many businesses including small, medium, and enterprise are migrating to this technology for so many reasons such as availability of computing resources, reduced total cost of ownership, on- demand services, increased revenue, and many more. Cloud Computing offers a number of advantages of cloud migration that motivated business enterprises to adopt this change. Our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi Ji dreams to make a digital India and the cloud could help to make India digital.
