Attribute Reduction Algorithm of Neighborhood Rough Set Based on Supervised Granulation and Its Application

In neighborhood rough set theory, attribute reduction based on measure of information has important application significance. The influence of different decision classes was not considered for calculation of traditional conditional neighborhood entropy, and the improvement of algorithm based on conditional neighborhood entropy mainly includes of introducing multi granularity and different levels, while the mutual influence between samples with different labels is less considered. To solve this problem, this paper uses the supervised strategy to improve the conditional neighborhood entropy of three-layer granulation. By using two different neighborhood radii to adjust the mutual influence degree of different label samples, and by considering the mutual influence between conditional attributes through the feature complementary relationship, a neighborhood rough set attribute reduction algorithm based on supervised granulation is proposed. Experiment results on UCI data sets show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the traditional conditional neighborhood entropy algorithm in both aspects of reduction rate and reduction accuracy. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to the evaluation of fatigue life influencing factors of titanium alloy welded joints. The results of coupling relationship analysis show that the effect of joint type should be most seriously considered in the calculation of stress concentration factor. The results of influencing factors analysis show that the stress range has the highest weight among all the fatigue life influencing factors of titanium alloy welded joint.

An Effective Approach to Test Suite Reduction and Fault Detection Using Data Mining Techniques

Software testing is used to find bugs in the software to provide a quality product to the end users. Test suites are used to detect failures in software but it may be redundant and it takes a lot of time for the execution of software. In this article, an enormous number of test cases are created using combinatorial test design algorithms. Attribute reduction is an important preprocessing task in data mining. Attributes are selected by removing all weak and irrelevant attributes to reduce complexity in data mining. After preprocessing, it is not necessary to test the software with every combination of test cases, since the test cases are large and redundant, the healthier test cases are identified using a data mining techniques algorithm. This is healthier and the final test suite will identify the defects in the software, it will provide better coverage analysis and reduces execution time on the software.

Measures of Uncertainty for a Four-Hybrid Information System and Their Applications

A four-hybrid information system (4HIS) is an information system (IS) where the dataset of object descriptions consists of categorical, boolean, real-valued and missing data or attributes. This paper studies measures of uncertainty for a 4HIS and its application in attribute reduction. The distance function for each type of attribute in a 4HIS is first provided. Then, this distance is used to produce the tolerance relation induced by a given subsystem in a 4HIS. Next, information structure of this subsystem is proposed in terms of a set vector and dependence between information structures is introduced. Moreover, granulation and entropy measures in a 4HIS are investigated on the basis of information structures. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed measures, effectiveness analysis is performed from a statistical perspective. Finally, an application of the proposed measures for attribute reduction in a 4HIS is given.

Some results on fuzzy relations

Fuzzy relation is one of the main research contents of fuzzy set theory. This paper obtains some results on fuzzy relations by studying relationships between fuzzy relations and their uncertainty measurement. The concepts of equality, dependence, partial dependence and independence between fuzzy relations are first introduced. Then, uncertainty measurement for a fuzzy relation is investigated by using dependence between fuzzy relations. Moreover, the basic properties of uncertainty measurement are obtained. Next, effectiveness analysis is carried out. Finally, an application of the proposed measures in attribute reduction for heterogeneous data is given. These results will be helpful for understanding the essence of a fuzzy relation.
