Mercury (Hg) is globally recognized as a persistent chemical contaminant that accumulates in marine biota, thus constituting an ecological hazard, as well as a health risk to seafood consumers. Climate change-related stressors may influence the bioaccumulation, detoxification, and toxicity of chemical contaminants, such as Hg. Yet, the potential interactions between environmental stressors and contaminants, as well as their impacts on marine organisms and seafood safety, are still unclear. Hence, the aim of this work was to assess the bioaccumulation of Hg and neuro-oxidative responses on the commercial flat fish species Solea senegalensis (muscle, liver, and brain) co-exposed to dietary Hg in its most toxic form (i.e., MeHg), seawater warming (ΔT°C = +4 °C), and acidification (pCO2 = +1000 µatm, equivalent to ΔpH = −0.4 units). In general, fish liver exhibited the highest Hg concentration, followed by brain and muscle. Warming enhanced Hg bioaccumulation, whereas acidification decreased this element’s levels. Neuro-oxidative responses to stressors were affected by both climate change-related stressors and Hg dietary exposure. Hazard quotient (HQ) estimations evidenced that human exposure to Hg through the consumption of fish species may be aggravated in tomorrow’s ocean, thus raising concerns from the seafood safety perspective.

The specific purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which tourists' buying interest in East Kalimantan's specialty is especially the food product of flat fish. The general purpose of this study is to improve the work of human resources in processing typical products of East Kalimantan in improving the economy. The analytical technique used was the Stuctural Equation Model (SEM) with AMOS 21. The data were taken from questionnaires distributed to tourists who were shopping for typical East Kalimantan products in the cities of Samarinda, Balikpapan and Bontang. The results showed that the variables of interest had a negative and insignificant ef ect on the economy, it could be concluded that the price of ered did not become an obstacle for tourists to buy the product. The results of this study indicate that the type of product, demography, psychology has a positive ef ect on tourist buying interest.

The study examined the key gene Dishevelled (Dvl or Dsh) in Wnt (Wingless and INT-1) signaling pathways. The gene (Dvl) was characterized in the flat fish Paralichthys olivaceus for its expression pattern structure and phylogenetics at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao, China in 2018. Three gene paralogues (Dvl1, Dvl2 and Dvl3) of the Dvl family were cloned in P. olivaceus and a N-terminal DAX domain, a central PDZ domain and a C-terminal DEP domain were discovered in all three protein paralogues. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that Dvl genes in P. olivaceus are most closely related to those in marine teleosts Larimichthys crocea and Stegastes partitus, followed by those in Cynoglossus semilaevis. For each Dvl gene, the genes in teleosts fall into a clade independent from the ones in other vertebrates, suggesting that the duplication of Dvl genes occurred prior to the divergence of vertebrates. The temporal expression patterns of the three Dvl genes were characterized during the embryonic development of teleosts. In P. olivaceus, all three Dvl genes remain at low expression levels during the early stages of development until gastrula stage, when the expression of Dvl1 was significantly up-regulated. The research revealed vastly different temporal expression patterns of Dvl genes and suggested that the structure of Dvl proteins is conserved, but the expression patterns of Dvl genes vary significantly among different classes.
