Abstract Background The emergent categorization involving paintings by renowned painters and their corresponding names was demonstrated by previous studies. However, the results of these studies suggest that the colors of the pictures may have played a preponderant role, obscuring other aspects of the stimuli that could be more directly related to the style of each painter. To verify this possibility, the present study used the same methodology of Ferreira et al. to investigate the establishment of emergent conditional relations between categories composed of black and white paintings and the names of their authors. Method The procedure consisted of the training of relations between each of the ten paintings and an abstract picture, for each of the three painters Botticelli, Monet, and Picasso. Relations between each of the three abstract figures and the printed name of one of the painters were verified in sequence. Finally, tests of relations between five trained and five untrained paintings of each artist and the printed names were conducted. Results The participants’ performance suggests that the outcome was properly controlled by aspects pertinent to the paintings that belonged to each painter’s category. Conclusions The results reinforced the data obtained previously with colored pictures, suggesting that the process of emergent categorization involving artificial categories of paintings is robust. It also indicates possibilities for future investigations, for example, using stimuli of other artistic productions, such as sculpture and music.

Abstract—A Spring/Summer 2021 collection based on WGSN trend forecast for Spring/Summer 2021 called HomeSpun, which inspired from Edgar Allan Poe's poem, "A Dream within a Dream". This poem consists of 24 rows which divided into two stanzas, illustrate the differences between our perception of lives and the effect of time, that emphasize human existencies are only dreams and illusions, an abstract picture from human mind. Clothes category are citywear with sophisticated and elegant looks. Using in-depth interview, some keywords are produced, namely blurry, contention, curved lines, encounter of two different substances, conflicting diagonal line, and transparant. That keywords then poured into garment's cutting, details, and embellishments. The collection's details and embellishments are deconstructed cutting, plaits, embroidery texts, crochet, and clay beads. This collection consists of 60 designs of menswear, womenswear, and kidswear, also its lifestyle products and accessories.  5 looks consists of 14 garments, 5 pieces of shoes, 2 bags, 2 earrings, 2 glasses, 3 headbands, 1 set of hair clip, 1 bracelet, 1 scrunchies, and 1 handphone & airpods case were realized. Keywords: blurry, conflicting diagonal line, contention, two realities   Abstrak—Perancangan koleksi Spring/Summer 2021 berdasarkan trend forecast WGSN Spring/Summer 2021 “HomeSpun” menggunakan inspirasi dari puisi karya Edgar Allan Poe, “A Dream within a Dream”. Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Nil Introduction Behcet’s disease (BD) is a rare inflammatory disorder, which predominantly impacts people of Mediterranean and East Asian origin. While the aetiology is unknown, the prevailing disorder is vasculitis. Oral, skin and ocular lesions are common: cardiac involvement is rare. Case description A sixty-three year old male with Behcet’s disease (BD) presented for review. On clinical examination, atrial fibrillation, prominent V waves, mild pedal oedema and a ‘to and fro’ murmur were noted. Marked elevation of right ventricular (RV) end diastolic pressure was measured by cardiac catheter. Echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed significant RV abnormalities. The mid and apical RV regions were heavily trabeculated, and an anterior aneurysm was identified (see 2D image in abstract picture). A prominent horizontal muscular ridge in the basal RV was noted, and the RV outflow tract was narrowed. While the tricuspid valve was not apically displaced, leaflet coaptation was absent with subsequent severe tricuspid regurgitation into a grossly enlarged right atrium (see colour image in abstract picture). Management included diuretics and continuing immunosuppressives. Discussion BD is a rare (chronic) inflammatory disorder, which mainly affects people of Mediterranean and East Asian origin, and is often first diagnosed (in the third or fourth decades of life) following recurrent oral ulcerations, skin and ocular lesions. With BD, the prevailing disorder is vasculitis. Blood vessels of all sizes, both arteries and veins, are impacted: true or false aneurysms can occur. BD rarely affects the heart. If there is cardiac involvement, pericarditis is the most common lesion - others include myocarditis, mitral valve prolapse, intra-cardiac thrombus and myocardial infarction. We present a rare (and possibly unique) cardiac manifestation of BD, anterior RV aneurysm. Conclusion In this case report we present a rare cardiac manifestation of BD, anterior RV aneurysm. The article deals with the features of verbal and non-verbal creativity of Conservatory students. The study used: methods for diagnosing verbal creativity (adapted version of The S. Mednik RAT test), methods for diagnosing nonverbal creativity (short version of the Torrens test), and the "picture of the world" method. The purpose of the study was to study the features of verbal and non-verbal creativity and the image of the world of students, as well as to study their relationships. Three groups of students: low, moderate, and high level of creativity, which describes the inherent types of the world picture, the features of the development of the creativity indices. It was shown that there are significant differences in the development of verbal creativity in the originality index for students with medium and low, medium and high, low and high levels of nonverbal creativity, and in the uniqueness index for students with high and low levels of nonverbal creativity. It was found that for students with a low level of creativity, the landscape picture of the world is more pronounced, and for students with a high level of nonverbal creativity, the abstract picture of the world is more pronounced. Some significant relationships between creativity and the features of the students ' worldview are highlighted.

Abstract: Picture books are a motivating tool at early educational stages and they may extend students’ vocabulary and foster children’ bilingual education by introducing vocabulary in real a classroom context. Moreover, these resources promote positive intercultural values among learners. Firstly, this paper discusses the benefits of using picture books at early educational stages. Then, it analyses the main intercultural values in Elmer by David McKee (1989); later, it shows a classroom intervention on Elmer, focusing on the bilingual CLIL approach. Finally, it states some conclusions, which have to do with the potential of this particular picture book.

Purpose: To localize the functional cortices enrolled during abstract picture recognition task that might be a baseline study to provide Thais standard paradigm for future research. Material and methods: The protocol study was approved by institutional review broad and local ethics committee. Informed written consent was obtained from all participants after character of the experimental study was fully explained. Twenty healthy subjects underwent functional MRI and axial T1 weighted image, the latter was anatomic reference image. Abstract picture recognition task as block paradigm was used. Statistic analysis of fMRI datas were analyzed as a whole group analysis and using sample t test random effect analysis model, RFx (corrected P value <0.01). BOLD activities on brain surface rendering images were displayed as color from red (less activity) to yellow (strong activity). The anatomic reference image was loaded to overlay the colored maps and the anatomy of the cerebral cortical lobes and gyri and hippocampal formation were defined. In addition, BOLD activities are also displayed as color overlays on axial, coronal and sagittal views of T1W reference anatomic images, gradual change from dark blue (less activity) to red (most strong activity). Results: Activation for abstract picture recognition was observed at the both-sided cerebellum, bilateral parietal lobes, left hippocampus, bilateral occipital lobes including calcarine cortices, left motor cortex, bilateral premotor cortices, supplementary motor area and left superior temporal gyrus (Wernickeûs area). There is asymmetry of the activities in both hemispheres with left-sided predominance. Bilateral parietal and occipital lobes showed the most intense activities. Conclusion: Abstract picture recognition task showed activation in multiple areas of cortical brain, which correlates with the human memory processing.

According to the Dual-Coding Theory (Paivio & Desrochers, 1980), words that are associated with rich visual imagery are more easily learned than abstract words due to what is termed the concreteness effect (Altarriba & Bauer, 2004; de Groot, 1992, de Groot et al., 1994; ter Doest & Semin, 2005). The present study examined the effects of attaching visual imagery to abstract words through use of a meaning recall test. Eighty-seven American university students of first-year Spanish participated in the study. Participants were placed in either picture or non-picture groups and were given a treatment of 12 abstract and 12 concrete words. The treatment included three input phases lasting approximately 17 minutes. The posttest and delayed posttest involved a meaning recall test to measure receptive knowledge in which participants were supplied the L2 lexical item and asked to write the L1 translation. The results indicated that participants in the abstract picture group outperformed those in the abstract non-picture group on both posttest and delayed posttest; however, no such effect was found for concrete words. Findings suggest that meaning recall of abstract words can be facilitated by usage of metaphorical, emotive, or symbolic imagery.

Through study of clinical cases with brain lesions as well as neuroimaging studies of cognitive processing of words and pictures, it has been established that material-specific hemispheric specialization exists. It remains however unclear whether such specialization holds true for all processes involved in complex tasks, such as recognition memory. To investigate neural signatures of transition from perception to recognition, according to type of material (words or abstract pictures), high-resolution scalp ERPs were recorded in adult humans engaged either in categorization or in memory recognition tasks within the same experimental setup. Several steps in the process from perception to recognition were identified. Source localization showed that the early stage of perception processing (N170) takes place in the fusiform gyrus and is lateralized according to the nature of stimuli (left side for words and right side for pictures). Late stages of processing (N400/P600) corresponding to recognition are material independent and involve anterior medial-temporal and ventral prefrontal structures bilaterally. A crucial transitional process between perception (N170) and recognition (N400/P600) is reflected by the N270, an often overlooked component, which occurs in anterior rhinal cortices and shows material-specific hemispheric lateralization.
