Intellectual Capital and Disclosure Practices of Miscellaneous Industries: Evidence from Cable Companies in Indonesia

The important role of intellectual capital for value creation has led many companies to disclose their intellectual capital information in annual reports. This study aims to provide, via content analysis, an overview of the disclosure and presentation of intellectual capital information in the annual reports of cable companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015. This study found that structural capital is the most common category of intellectual capital disclosed in the annual reports. In addition, most intellectual capital disclosures are discursive, with positive and past-oriented information. However, there is no systematic framework for disclosing intellectual capital information in annual reports. Disclosures made do not have a special pattern and are still random. This finding may contribute to an understanding of how companies communicate intellectual capital information for their own benefit, as well as the benefit of stakeholders, customers and employees.

GROWTH CIRCLE PATTERNS IN THE OTOLITH OF THE GRAY FISH (Osteochilus melanopleurus) FROM THE SIAK AND KAMPAR RIVERS

Osteochilus melanopleurus can be found in the Siak and Kampar Rivers. The Kampar Rivers waters are better than that of the Siak River and it affects the growth of the fish. The growth pattern is reflected in the pattern of otolith growth rings. The research aims to understand the pattern of otolith growth rings of the O. melanopleurus from both rivers has been conducted from January to February 2021. There were 55 fishes captured (28 males and 27 females). The otolith was taken using tweezers and shaved manually using a soft grindstone. The dark growth ring pattern was investigated using a binocular microscope. Results showed the size of fish captured was 220 to 360 mm from Siak River and 310 to 370 mm from Kampar River. In the fish with the same standard length, the size of the otolith from the Siak River is heavier and longer than that of the Kampar River, which means that fish growth from the Kampar River is better than that of the Siak River. The length of an otolith from Siak River ranged from 1.875 – 3.275 mm, the width was ranged from 1.575–2.75 mm and the weight of otolith was 0.0039 – 0.0098 g, while the length of an otolith from Kampar River ranged from 2.375–3.275 mm, the width was ranged from 1.85–2.575 mm and the weight of otolith was 0.0042 –0.0076 g. The maximum number of the dark ring in the otolith from the Siak River was 4 and Kampar River was 2. The distance between the nucleus and the first dark ring of fish from both rivers was varied from 0.1–0.525 mm, and there was no special pattern. This fact indicates that the first dark ring was formed individually and they were not formed by a periodical incidents during the fish life

Hidden Words Statistics for Large Patterns

We study here the so called subsequence pattern matching also known as hidden pattern matching in which one searches for a given pattern $w$ of length $m$ as a subsequence in a random text of length $n$. The quantity of interest is the number of occurrences of $w$ as a subsequence (i.e., occurring in not necessarily consecutive text locations). This problem finds many applications from intrusion detection, to trace reconstruction, to deletion channel, and to DNA-based storage systems. In all of these applications, the pattern $w$ is of variable length. To the best of our knowledge this problem was only tackled for a fixed length $m=O(1)$. In our main result we prove that for $m=o(n^{1/3})$ the number of subsequence occurrences is normally distributed. In addition, we show that under some constraints on the structure of $w$ the asymptotic normality can be extended to $m=o(\sqrt{n})$. For a special pattern $w$ consisting of the same symbol, we indicate that for $m=o(n)$ the distribution of number of subsequences is either asymptotically normal or asymptotically log normal. After studying some special patterns (e.g., alternating) we conjecture that this dichotomy is true for all patterns. We use Hoeffding's projection method for $U$-statistics to prove our findings.

Acquired White Oral Lesions with Specific Patterns: Oral Lichen Planus and Lupus Erythematosus

Background: Diagnosis of oral white lesions might be challenging. These lesions represent a wide spectrum of diseases with different etiology and prognosis. Oral white lesions can be categorized into two major groups, congenital and acquired, according to their development, and in four subgroups: lesions which can be scraped off or not and lesions with special pattern or not. Objectives: The aim of this manuscript is to review, from diagnosis to treatment, the current knowledge on oral white lesions with specific pattern. Methods: A review on oral white lesions with specific pattern was conducted on PubMed and Scopus from inception to January 2021. Results: Among acquired lesions with specific pattern two clinical entities are mostly represented: Oral lichenoid reactions and Lupus erythematosus. The etiology of both diseases is still not known but their pathogenesis is mainly immunological. At present the mucoscopic features of those disease have been described only in few case reports or case series. Immunomodulatory therapies are often the agents of choice for their treatment. Conclusions: The collaboration of dermatologists and dentists as a team is important for early diagnoses and effective treatments. Mucoscopy is a promising technique which may reveal important features for the differentiation of OLP and LE oral white lesions.

Survival vs Quality

The final chapter examines the impact of party system closure on the survival as well as the quality of democracy. We consider the question of whether closure is a necessary or sufficient precondition for the survival of democracy, and whether the other often proposed measures of party system stability, especially electoral volatility and parliamentary fragmentation, have a similarly important role. We use various indices to tap the quality of democracy, and we measure the relationship between these indices and closure by considering the intervening role of economic development. We find a special pattern in post-Communist Eastern Europe, indicating that closure can have pernicious consequences under certain conditions.

Packet Analysis: a Model Implementation of a Special Communication Protocol Using Micro Programming

Communication protocols are used in telecommunication systems. These protocols are defined as rules, which enable the entities of communicating systems to transfer information usually as packages. Additionally, each standard communication protocol has uniquely-defined structure and consequently a special pattern of network packets. Here, it is worth mentioning that communication protocols are implemented in different ways, in the system software layer or in hardware layer (silicon chipsets). This paper presents the implementation of a special communication protocol called "Packet Analysis", which is used in the Hardware project "Minimax machine". This implementation is a software that can be written using a special simulator "Minimax simulator", which is the target execution environment. That simulator was successfully developed for micro programming and hardware simulations. In this regard, this study develops an algorithm that represents a step toward simulating communication protocols using micro-programming. The flow chart designed here gives an overview of how the "Packet Analysis" algorithm works (designed protocol), which in turn describes all steps in details. As a result, the entire system of this research paper was implemented and tested with various input values. Additionally, the implemented proposed solution (implemented protocol) was evaluated by two metrics (quantitative measures) using test-benches so that its statistics will be trustworthy for research. Other results of this study showed that there is a lot of scope for optimization in the solution presented in this research paper. This leads in turn to optimize the proposed implementation and to consider implementation alternatives.

Role and significance of global bilingualism in the convergence of real and virtual spaces (within their communicative segment)

This paper investigates communication in its bilingual expression as a factor enhancing subjective convergence of real and virtual spaces by the sign system. The aim of the investigation is to analyze language and speech which both, under global bilingual conditions, are influenced by cross-linguistic interference and facilitate in their interaction the mechanism of coding those new concepts of reality that arise and consolidate due to the mergence of real and virtual spaces. The basic research methods used are contrastive analysis and conceptual analysis. From the practical standpoint the obtained results can be used as complementary in, say, sociological and/or psychological studies of the impact produced by the real space upon social and individual con-science. The authors come to a conclusion that global bilingualism has created a special pattern in the interaction between language and speech where the coded information concerning real and virtual spaces is conceptually metaphorized. This type of metaphorization is nothing but simulacrization leading to faulty judgments and attitudes towards reality.

Basic Operations on Vedic Mathematics: A Study on Special Parts

Vedic Mathematics was rediscovered and reconstructed by Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji from ancient Sanskrit texts Veda early last century between 1911 – 1918 is popularly known today is Vedic Mathematics. It is an extremely refined, independent and efficient mathematical system based on his 16 formulae and some sub-formulae with simple rules and principles. The main purpose of this paper is to communicate a new approach to Mathematics, offering simple, direct, one-line, mental solutions to mathematical problems. In the way of basic mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division can be done in simple ways, and results are obtained quickly and can be checked in a minute by using the Vedic techniques. In this system, for any problem, there is always one general technique and also some special pattern problems. This paper especially concentrates only on the specific pattern of elementary operation of Vedic Mathematics.

THE PROBLEMS OF DETERMINING THE CONFORMITY OF DEFENCE MEASURES WITH THE NATURE AND RISK OF ASSAULT BY THE JUSTIFIABLE DEFENCE

The conformity of defence with the nature and risk of assault is one of the most controversial aspects incriminal law science. If a socially dangerous assault or threat of its implementation did not involve violencedangerous to the life of the defending person or another person, the law obliges the defending person tochoose a special pattern of conduct in accordance with Part 2 of Article 37 of the Criminal Code of theRussian Federation, namely to find a way to repel the attack that will correspond to the nature and dangerof the assault.However, the law does not contain clear criteria for the determination of defence measures, which notonly limits citizens «ability to repel assaults, but also promotes sentences where the actions of the defendingperson are incorrectly classified either as exceeding the limits of the justifiable defence or on general grounds.Criminal law science offers different approaches to solving the problem, from establishing some criteria torenouncing them (completely unlimited defence).
