Adhesive capsulitis more commonly periarthritis of shoulder is a common condition characteristic by pain, stiffness and restricted range of motion leading to difficulty in household activities, overhead reach and complexity in daily activities. This condition affects around two million - mostly women between the ages of 40 and 60. Some experts say changing levels of hormones may be to blame for this connection between adhesive capsulitis and menopause. This is a case study of Mrs. R a 55-year-old female presenting complain of left-sided shoulder pain and restricted movement. These symptoms started gradually but over time they began to affect her general quality of life and morale. Pain increased, particularly at night leaving her extremely tired during the daytime and she started to experience problems especially when dressing. After conducting a thorough examination, which included assessment of active and passive range of movements (rom), x rays and diagnostic special tests we reached a diagnosis of adhesive capsulitis of left shoulder The conservative management remains the mainstay treatment of adhesive capsulitis With using soft tissue mobilization treatment techniques in combination with a home exercise programmed with active assisted exercise. Here in this case study, we are emphasizing on the restorative and compensatory management decreasing the hours of OPD visits and promoting home program

Objective - to analyze the risk factors (RF) of noncommunicable diseases depending on the comorbidity index (CI) in hospitalized patients. Materials and methods. A cross-sectional study was performed at the Altai Regional Hospital for War Veterans. 128 people were invited to take part in the study during the month in the therapeutic department, 100 people agreed (78.1% response). The average age is 77.9±8.3 years, 48% of women, 52% of men. A general clinical examination, RF analysis of noncommunicable diseases, psychosocial factors, Montreal Cognitive Function Scale (MoCA test), and an examination by a neurologist to detect encephalopathy were performed. Based on the Charlson CI data, patients were divided into 3 groups: group 1 - CI 1-2 points - 46%, group 2 - CI 3-4 points - 38%, group 3 - CI 5 and more points - 16%. Results. Regardless of gender, CI 5 or more was more common than CI 1-2 by 16.8%; among men, CI 5 and more occurred more often than CI 3-4 by 17.8%; middle-aged persons were only in the group with CI 1-2. In patients with CI 5 or more, compared with patients with CI 1-2, there was a higher frequency of such RFs as obesity (by 29.9%, all persons with CI 5 or more had abdominal obesity), social isolation (by 29.7%), type D personality (by 36.5%), as well as cognitive impairment (by 28.5%) and encephalopathy (by 32.9%). Depression was found 26.1% more often in patients with CI 3-4 than in patients with CI 1-2. Conclusion. Comorbidity is not a mandatory condition characteristic of an aging population, it is primarily the result of individual behavior. Therefore, the identification and correction of RF of noncommunicable diseases, especially in conditions of comorbidity, seems to be an urgent task, which determines the success of treatment in this category of patients.

This introductory chapter provides a background of the January 25 Revolution, or the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. It also outlines the formal characteristics of liminality and its relevance to politics. The book explores revolution through the concept of liminality, which is understood as a condition characteristic of all transitions between normative social states. Liminality allows for flexible articulation between the political and social, artistic, or cultural spheres and is also attentive to the spatial dimensions of performance. A thread that runs through much of the book is martyrdom, specifically its use in political performances. The chapter then introduces the concept of political Tricksters. In the uncomfortable condition of protracted liminality, Tricksters—beings at home in liminality, common in folklore, mythology, and literature—can become dangerous in politics. The structuring of liminality as precarity enables the rise of Trickster politics on a global scale.

Although relationships among the major groups of living gnathostomes are well established, the relatedness of early jawed vertebrates to modern clades is intensely debated. Here, we provide a new description of Gladbachus , a Middle Devonian (Givetian approx. 385-million-year-old) stem chondrichthyan from Germany, and one of the very few early chondrichthyans in which substantial portions of the endoskeleton are preserved. Tomographic and histological techniques reveal new details of the gill skeleton, hyoid arch and jaws, neurocranium, cartilage, scales and teeth. Despite many features resembling placoderm or osteichthyan conditions, phylogenetic analysis confirms Gladbachus as a stem chondrichthyan and corroborates hypotheses that all acanthodians are stem chondrichthyans. The unfamiliar character combination displayed by Gladbachus , alongside conditions observed in acanthodians, implies that pre-Devonian stem chondrichthyans are severely under-sampled and strongly supports indications from isolated scales that the gnathostome crown group originated at the latest by the early Silurian (approx. 440 Ma). Moreover, phylogenetic results highlight the likely convergent evolution of conventional chondrichthyan conditions among earliest members of this primary gnathostome division, while skeletal morphology points towards the likely suspension feeding habits of Gladbachus , suggesting a functional origin of the gill slit condition characteristic of the vast majority of living and fossil chondrichthyans.

Cu2O nanoparticles loaded TiO2 nanotubes (Cu2O/TNTs) were synthesized by photoreduction method for the enhancement of photocatalyst activity of TNTs under sunlight condition. Characteristic properties of these materials were determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). XPS spectra confirmed the existence of Cu2O nanoparticles in the sample. The photocatalytic activity of Cu2O/TNTs was evaluated by the survey of the removal of methylene blue (MB) solution under direct sunlight condition. The discoloration of MB solution by Cu2O/TNTs was faster and better than by TNTs after 30 minute – irradiation. The MB removal efficiency of Cu2O/TNTs was up to 89.7 % with the above condition. The results of this study demonstrated that this material for the treatment of the toxic organic substances in the polluted water poses extremely potentials.

In the study of grotesque terracotta statuettes from the Hellenistic Age many questions are yet to be answered, including the ‘identity’ of these figurines. This article aims at giving reference points for the iconographical interpretation of the grotesques. In the first part of the article I collected some circumstances hindering the decipherment of the grotesque terracottas. Then, as the majority of these objects are head fragments broken from the bodies of statuettes, I tried to present details and attributes that may hint at the original meaning of the figurines, even without any knowledge of the missing parts of their bodies. These details include hairstyle and headwear, facial features typical of certain ethnic groups, signs of medical condition, characteristic injuries and features known from the sphere of the theatre.

Communication through gap junctions was examined in 8-cell zygotes generated by fertilization of eggs of the DDK inbred strain of mice with spermatozoa of the C3H strain. These zygotes spontaneously begin to extrude cells at the late 16-cell stage and 95% die by the blastocyst stage. The transfer of Lucifer Yellow between cells of DDK/C3H zygotes that had not yet begun to express the defect was significantly slower than in DDK/DDK controls or in controls from other strains. Treatment with the weak base methylamine, to raise intracellular pH, speeded the transfer of Lucifer in all strains; transfer between cells of DDK/C3H zygotes became as fast as that between cells of control zygotes. DDK/C3H zygotes cultured in methylamine either from the 4- to 8-cell stage to the early 16-cell stage (19h) or from the early to the late 16-cell stage (6 h) showed significant rescue to the blastocyst stage. Once spontaneous decompaction of cells from DDK/C3H zygotes had begun (the late 16-cell stage onwards) methylamine treatment was no longer able to bring about rescue. We conclude that zygotes developed from eggs of the DDK strain fertilized by foreign spermatozoa are characterized physiologically by defective gap junctional communication. Improving gap junctional communication is sufficient to allow many zygotes to maintain the compacted state, suggesting a link between compaction and communication through gap junctions.
