The study aims to analyze the rise of the smart city as a global project for the improvement of the territorial governance of social and economic development in late capitalist society. By using the methodology of the French regulation school, the author shows that political and economic significance of the smart city projects is defined by their role in the global network of information exchange characteristic of the post-Fordist regime of accumulation. Through the analysis of the smart city’s role in stimulating innovations and maintaining the consumption patterns needed for the continuing market growth the present research demonstrates the objective necessity of installation of the city-centered system of global developmental governance.

Wave rotor with pressure exchange function can be attempted to improve refrigeration performance. The objective of this paper is to verify the feasibility of the method by thermodynamic and experimental analysis. First, a refrigeration process which contains wave rotor pressurization was established. Then, a thermodynamic model which reflects the refrigeration process was designed. The thermal performance was researched under various key parameters. Finally, based on the novel wave rotor refrigeration platform, the experimental work was carried out, and the effects of main parameters of the device were systematically studied. The results showed that it was feasible to enhance the coefficient of performance (COP) by using pressure exchange characteristic of wave rotor. The COP could be improved substantially at relatively small expansion ratio. Under the design point, more than half of the pressure energy could be restored. The performance curve of the novel equipment was also obtained. Enhancing the isentropic efficiency of expansion is the effective means to improve the COP and σ of the system. This paper was designed in a way that contained a novel equipment to enhance the COP of wave rotor refrigeration.

Purpose This article illustrates through word, image and design the back-and-forth exchange characteristic of Project Oriented Semantic Trading (POST) Cards, a game-based professional learning ritual relevant to educators’ problems of practice. In describing the iterative designs and features of POST Cards, this article intentionally depicts alternative means of narrative and scholarship via imaginative, playful and visual (re)presentation. Design/methodology/approach Both POST Cards and this inquiry use a design-based process driven by theory about play, intended to improve education practice, and iteratively co-created with participants. As an annotated and dialogical worked example, this representation of game play moves beyond the monolithic medium of printed text. With the intention to provoke discussion about the content and configuration of inquiry, this article traces the literal and figurative tradeoffs associated with the development and play of POST Cards. Findings In surveying the design and enactment of POST Cards across two iterations, and a related Quote Cards mutation, three design principles are relevant to fostering greater playfulness in higher education: embrace the inevitability of tradeoffs, invite players to co-create new features and iterations, and create conditions whereby everyday rituals and social practices are transformed into improvisational and discursive play. Originality/value As an annotated narrative constructed in the form and spirit of POST Cards, this inquiry is notable for presenting an experimental form of multimodal literacy and also for revealing how higher education settings and practices may be designed as playgrounds upon which to render visionary, risky and expressive approaches to game-based collaboration and creative scholarship.

Empirical studies on the heat exchange characteristic of the span borderline CO2 of the parallel flow gas cooler in the hol-aluminium microchannel and the surface temperature distribution of the gas cooler during heat exchanging of the span borderline CO2. Through experiments we got the surface temperature distribution of the cooler in the wind. These studies provide evidences for the design of the hol-aluminium mirochannel parallel flow gas cooler in the carbon dioxide automobile air conditioning system.
