To meet critical requirements on flexible electronic devices, multifunctionalized flexible sensors with excellent electromechanical performance and temperature perception are required. Herein, lignin-reinforced thermoresponsive poly(ionic liquid) hydrogel is prepared through an ultrasound-assisted synthesized method. Benefitting from the electrostatic interaction between lignin and ionic liquid, the hydrogel displays high stretchability (over 1425%), excellent toughness (over 132 kPa), and impressive stress loading-unloading cyclic stability. The hydrogel strain sensor presents excellent electromechanical performance with a high gauge factor (1.37) and rapid response rate (198 ms), which lays the foundation for human body movement detection and smart input. Moreover, owing to the thermal-sensitive feature of poly(ionic liquid), the as-prepared hydrogel displays remarkable thermal response sensitivity (0.217°C-1) in body temperature range and low limit of detection, which can be applied as a body shell temperature indicator. Particularly, the hydrogel can detect dual stimuli of strain and temperature and identify each signal individually, showing the specific application in human-machine interaction and artificial intelligence. By integrating the hydrogel strain sensor into a wireless sensation system, remote motion capture and gesture identification is realized in real-time.

This work aims to identify the damping properties of a commercial viscoelastic material that can be embedded and cured between the layers of composite laminates. The material may be adopted for reducing the vibration response of composite panels, typically used in automotive and aerospace applications, e.g., as vehicle body shell components. In order to objectively estimate the actual potential to enhance the noise vibration and harshness aspects, the effects of the viscoelastic material on the modal parameters of carbon/epoxy thin panels are quantitatively assessed through experimental modal analysis. Two different experiments are conducted, namely impact hammer tests and shaker excitation measurements. Based on the results of the experimental campaign, the investigated material is confirmed as a promising solution for possibly reducing the severity of vibrations in composite panels, thanks to its high damping properties. Indeed, the presence of just one layer proves to triple the damping properties of a thin panel. An approximate damping model is derived from the measured data in order to effectively simulate the dynamic response of new design solutions, including thin composite panels featuring the viscoelastic material.

Hybrid solar cells based on InGaP/Ga(In)As/Ge and Si elements integrated in a crystalline silicon heat-removing base with a system for optical-emission concentration based on linear Fresnel lenses and carbon-fiber body shell have been developed and their characteristics examined. These hybrid elements with light concentrators provide a specific electric power of 390 W/m2 (AM0, 1367 W/m2) at a specific mass of the photogenerating part reduced to 1.0 kg/m2. The improved photoelectric characteristics and the radiation hardness of the cells enable application of the hybrid elements with light concentrators in space solar cells and in stand-alone terrestrial power plants with solar light concentration.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop a method for defining and categorizing upper lateral somatotypes for clothing size systems used for clothing pattern creation based on directional angles of 3D space vectors. Design/methodology/approach – 3D data for 317 men in their twenties obtained from the fifth Size Korea survey were used in this study. Standard landmarks and surfaces were set on the 3D shapes, and six space vector angles of the lateral form were defined and measured. Relationships among the measurement results were clarified, and the results were compared with those obtained using existing classifying methods. Findings – The measurement of the defined directional angles indicated that the swayback type and bend-forward type had the two extreme values, and the straight type was between the two values. The analysis of the correlation between six directional angles indicated that some points in the lower area of the upper body had a high correlation with other points in the lower area. Researchlimitations/implications – The subjects of this study were limited to lateral somatotypes, and there is a need for future studies that focus on frontal somatotypes. This research is confined to the upper lateral somatotypes of men in their twenties. Further study is needed to extend the results of this study to other body types such as those of elderly and overweight persons. Practical implications – Major angle measurements quantified by the somatotypes can be specifically reflect in developing and revised to the right patterns which is spread body shell replica or individual pattern for MTM. Social implications – This objective somatotype analysis method can be involved in determining individual body somatotype of ordermade clothes or can provided the accurate information interactively to MTM automatic customized pattern making system. Originality/value – Accurate measurements of size, shape, and posture were applied and characterized to realize the process. Accuracy was improved compared to existing 2D analysis methods through three-dimensional analysis using directional space vector angles based on 3D forms.

The lightness of design Lines and curves make the pavilion a dynamic and trimmed sculpture whose characteristics derive from the brand image of the vehicle manufacturer. Uniform, matt stainless steel sheets wrap the body shell seamlessly. In a similar way to monocoque design, which is used in lightweight construction in the automotive and aircraft industries, the space-creating shell of the building takes over the load-bearing function. A total of 620 stainless steel covering sheets with welded-on stiffening ribs were prefabricated in a shipyard in Stralsund and assembled on site Table of contents conference proceedings 5 Anspruchsvolle Oberflächen und Leichtbau in der Instrumententafel des neuen Volkswagen Tiguan Mielke, R. / Dierks, P. | 201 19 3D Simulation für den Leichtbau in der kunststoffverarbeitenden Industrie Kurz, M. | 2016 31 Neuartige PUR-Oberflächen. AbstractThis paper presents a fast surface voxelization technique for the mapping of tessellated triangular surface meshes to uniform and structured grids that provide a basis for CFD simulations with the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). The core algorithm is optimized for massively parallel execution on graphics processing units (GPUs) and is based on a unique dissection of the inner body shell. This unique definition necessitates a topology based neighbor search as a preprocessing step, but also enables parallel implementation. More specifically, normal vectors of adjacent triangular tessellations are used to construct half-angles that clearly separate the per-triangle regions. For each triangle, the grid nodes inside the axis-aligned bounding box (AABB) are tested for their distance to the triangle in question and for certain well-defined relative angles. The performance of the presented grid generation procedure is superior to the performance of the GPU-accelerated flow field computations per time step which allows efficient fluid-structure interaction simulations, without noticeable performance loss due to the dynamic grid update.

The paper deals with the concept of matter manipulation and its vitality in the Brothers Quay’ works. The matter manipulation is not limited to the actual “matter”. Brothers Quay perceive the acting “matters” as symbols and signs of human activities and relationships. For them, there is no fundamental difference between “matters” and living beings inhabiting their films. Matter manipulation is the process of “machine” production, reproduction, destruction, repair and deconstruction. The creation process acts as a magic spell, in which objects are transformed into something else. The Street of Crocodiles (1986) is an example of deep understanding of lifelessness as a mask, a kind of conspiracy, behind which unknown life forms hide. Brothers Quay’ creative works tell us about autonomous existence of objects beyond their direct utilitarian purpose. The article will be devoted to such problems as synergistic vision of the world in which the material and the spiritual are inseparable. Despite the paradox of visual embodiment, it fits into a philosophical metatheory of the “new materialism”, which transversely crosses streams of matter and mind, body and soul, nature and culture. The legacy of Brothers Quay open to us the world of ordinary, “banal” things, signs of time on their body shell, in contradiction with the dominance of endless consumption of new, intrusive advertising and cult of youth, in which there is no room for “sign of the times”. Nepaisant vizualiojo įkūnijimo paradokso, jis pritaikomas „naujojo materializmo“ filosofinei metateorijai. „Naujasis materializmas“ skersai išilgai kerta materijos ir sąmonės, kūno ir sielos, gamtos ir kultūros klodus. Brolių Quay palikimas atveria įprastinių, „banalių“ daiktų pasaulį, laiko ženklus jų kūniškumo lentynoje, visa tai priešpastatydamas neišsenkančiam naujosios įkyrios reklamos ir jaunystės kulto vartojimo dominavimui – pastarojo sąlygomis nesama vietos „laiko ženklų“ kambariui. Reikšminiai žodžiai: animacija, broliai Quay, Vidurio ir Rytų Europa, Gilles'is Deleuze'as, mašina, manipuliavimas, medžiaga, vitališkumas
