In this paper, we propose an open-set object detection framework based on a dynamic hierarchical structure with incremental learning capabilities for unseen object classes. We were motivated by the observation that deep features extracted from visual objects show a strong hierarchical clustering property. The hierarchical feature model (HFM) was used to learn a new object class by using collaborative sampling (CS), and open-set-aware active semi-supervised learning (ASSL) algorithms. We divided object proposals into superclasses by using the agglomerative clustering algorithm. Data samples in each superclass node were classified into multiple augmented class nodes instead of directly associating with regular object classes. One or more augmented class nodes are related to a regular object class, and each augmented class has only one superclass. Object proposals from inexperienced data distribution are assigned to an augmented class node. Dynamic HFM nodes in the decision path are assembled to constitute an ensemble prediction, and the new augmented object is associated with a new regular object class. Our experimental results showed that the proposed method uses standard benchmark datasets such as PASCAL VOC, MS COCO, ILSVRC DET, and local datasets to perform better than state-of-the-art techniques.

We establish some properties involving regular morphisms in abelian categories. We show a decomposition theorem on the image of a regular sum of morphisms, a characterization of regular morphisms in terms of consecutive pairs of morphisms, and a description of certain equivalent morphisms. We also generalize Ehrlich’s Theorem on one-sided unit regular morphisms by showing that if [Formula: see text] is an [Formula: see text]-regular object, then a morphism [Formula: see text] is left (right) unit regular if and only if there exists a split monomorphism (epimorphism) [Formula: see text]. We also study regular morphisms determined by generalized inverses in additive categories.

Dynamical equations of nonlinear electrodynamics minimally coupled to gravity (NED–GR), admit the class of regular solutions, asymptotically Kerr–Newman for a distant observer, which describe regular electrically charged rotating black holes and spinning electromagnetic solitons with the angular momentum [Formula: see text] and the gyromagnetic ratio [Formula: see text]. Their basic generic feature is the existence of the interior de Sitter equatorial disk of the radius [Formula: see text] with the equation-of-state [Formula: see text] in the co-rotating frame, with the properties of a perfect conductor and ideal diamagnetic, and with the superconducting ring current along the edge of the disk, which replaces the ring singularity of the Kerr–Newman geometry and provides the nondissipative source of electromagnetic fields and the origin of an intrinsic magnetic momentum for an electrically charged regular object described by NED–GR. Generic features of the electromagnetic soliton with the parameters of the electron, [Formula: see text], suggest that the intrinsic origin of the electron magnetic momentum can be a superconducting ring current evaluated as [Formula: see text] A.

Three-dimensional (3D) Voronoi tessellation diagrams are generated by compiling program in MATLAB software. According to these 3D Voronoi cells, crystal structure, even the disorder structure, can be geometrically described and tessellated into the regular object, reflecting the atomic structural parameters, such as the coordination numbers (CN) and the atomic separation. Studying the characteristic of these tessellations, we can find the rule of atomic packing in real space. This Voronoi diagram is also useful in materials structure teaching curriculum and it is the significant basis to realized the atomic structure of the materials. By programing with MATLAB, the abstract concept of Voronoi tessellation are transformed into the lively and understandable computer animation, which can be easily recognized and mastered.

A book is not a regular object. Like other objects, it can be perceived by the sense of sight. Unlike other objects, the visual form of the book subordinates itself to the linguistic sphere. Thus we tend to overlook the outer appearance of books in favor of their contents. In other words we tend to read books as opposed to viewing them. The iconic dimension of the book appears where this assertion fails—that is, when people notice (or even emphasize) the visual form of books. This article develops this observation in the context of late antique Judaism and Christianity. It describes two modes of crossing the boundaries between the book as an object of reading and the book as an object of viewing. In both traditions, the iconic dimension of the book bypasses the textual level and highlights the visual level. In the Jewish world, the transition is between the textual perception of the written sign and the visual perception thereof. In other words, it is between two alternative modes of perceiving the written sign. This is exemplified by several instances of “Visual Midrash”—a midrash that is based on graphical data. In the Christian world, the transition is between the textual function of the book and its subordination to the hegemony of the visual image—an historical process beginning with the Pauline visual encounter with Christ and culminating with the triumph of the image in eighth century Byzantium.

The notion of left (respectively right) regular object of a tensor C*-category equipped with a faithful tensor functor into the category of Hilbert spaces is introduced. If such a category has a left (respectively right) regular object, it can be interpreted as a category of corepresentations (respectively representations) of some multiplicative unitary. A regular object is an object of the category which is at the same time left and right regular in a coherent way. A category with a regular object is endowed with an associated standard braided symmetry. Conjugation is discussed in the context of multiplicative unitaries and their associated Hopf C*-algebras. It is shown that the conjugate of a left regular object is a right regular object in the same category. Furthermore the representation category of a locally compact quantum group has a conjugation. The associated multiplicative unitary is a regular object in that category.

Constraint-based feature modelling is a promising approach for object modelling. During the feature creation and modification, the relationships between features are well described and maintained. This eliminates the tedious work for constructing a complex feature-based model and provides an efficient method for shape modification. However, most of the feature representation schemes cover only the regular object domain. The application in sculpture object domain has been put aside. In this paper, the constraint-based feature modelling approach for sculpture object such as human body will be introduced.
