Wakaf Zurri: Instrumen Pengurusan Harta dalam Pembangunan Tamadun Islam

Zurri waqf stands as an alternative for estate planning upon the death of one’s parents. Despite having current alternative such as will writing, faraid and hibah, zurri waqf is viable as instrument to distribute wealth to the loved ones. Data given by Jabatan Ketua Pengarah Tanah dan Galian (JKPTG) in 2019 shows a total of RM60 billion of unclaimed property had been recorded. Amongst of the causes are; absence of will writing and little knowledge of wealth management from the heirs. Thus, zurri waqf stand as one mechanism which can be practiced to assist the parentless child in surviving their lifes. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify the zurri waqf instrument as an estate planning and to identify the zurri waqf management procedures in Malaysia. This study is a qualitative nature in the form of interview and content analysis. This paper benefits readers and researchers involved in gaining more knowledge about zurri waqf as a suitable instrument for the estate planning of Muslim property such as land cultivated as agriculture and involving the participation of beneficiaries in waqf assets development that can bring significant impact in the future. In addition, the zurri waqf management procedures need to be improved in order to encourage its implementation in the future.

Romanian dentists’ perception of flexible removable partial dentures

Introduction. A flexible partial denture, as a treatment solution for partial edentulousness, is a current alternative in dental prosthetics, due to simplified design, aesthetic and biomechanical qualities of resin materials, that contribute to the favourable distribution of masticatory forces on the dental and mucosal support. Objective. This study aims to highlight the medical perception of Romanian dentists regarding the evolution of patients treated with flexible partial dentures. Material and method. The research was carried out over a period of two years (2017-2019), on a study group composed of 84 Romanian dentists. Subjects were asked to answer an anonymous questionnaire consisting of 14 closed questions, to outline frequently aspects encountered in practice related to the clinical evolution of the patient rehabilitated with flexible partial removable dentures. Outcomes. Patient comfort (76%) and higher aesthetic properties (54%) were the main reasons why dentists chose a partially flexible prosthetic for the prosthetic treatment of the patient. In the evolution of prosthetic patient, the main problems found at the partial flexible prosthesis were food pigment impregnation of the base (51%) and limited possibilities of repair (34%). Changes in maintenance, support, stability, aesthetic or possible fractures of base and clasps were seen by 46% of respondents, at approximately 1 to 2 years after the application of flexible partial dentures. Conclusions. Flexible partial prosthesis is a method of treatment, whose main advantages are represented by esthetics and superior adaptation of the patients, but because of the deficiencies that occur over time, it is better to be recommended as a provisional treatment solution.

Net Present CO2 Reductions – A Measure for an Adequate Evaluation of Green Initiatives

When assessing a green initiative, the standard approach is an application of the classical discounting of future gains converted into monetary terms. In doing so, significant uncertainties about the future value of CO2 reductions are introduced. The current alternative is to measure the CO2 reductions in a single reference year, e.g. 2030 or 2050. This does not take into account the CO2 reduction trajectory process during the years up to, and after, the reference year. In this paper, a new basis for decision making is presented, in which discounting of the CO2 reductions is measured in tonnes. In this approach, the discount factor takes into account the impatience implied from the tipping point theory. Furthermore, such a measure would adequately reflect the entire CO2 reduction profile of the initiative in question, rather than being restricted to focusing on the impact in a (single) selected reference year.

A Review of Zein as a Potential Biopolymer for Tissue Engineering and Nanotechnological Applications

Tissue engineering (TE) is one of the most challenging fields of research since it provides current alternative protocols and materials for the regeneration of damaged tissue. The success of TE has been mainly related to the right selection of nano-sized biocompatible materials for the development of matrixes, which can display excellent anatomical structure, functionality, mechanical properties, and histocompatibility. Today, the research community has paid particular attention to zein as a potential biomaterial for TE applications and nanotechnological approaches. Considering the properties of zein and the advances in the field, there is a need to reviewing the current state of the art of using this natural origin material for TE and nanotechnological applications. Therefore, the goal of this review paper is to elucidate the latest (over the last five years) applications and development works in the field, including TE, encapsulations of drugs, food, pesticides and bandaging for external wounds. In particular, attention has been focused on studies proving new breakthroughs and findings. Also, a complete background of zein’s properties and features are addressed.

Eternalism and Perspectival Realism About the ‘Now’

Eternalism is the view that all times are equally real. The relativity of simultaneity in special relativity backs this up. There is no cosmically extended, self-existing ‘now.’ This leads to a tricky problem. What makes statements about the present true? I shall approach the problem along the lines of perspectival realism and argue that the choice of the perspective does. To corroborate this point, the Lorentz transformations of special relativity are compared to the structurally similar equations of the Doppler effect. The ‘now’ is perspectivally real in the same way as a particular electromagnetic spectrum frequency. I also argue that the ontology of time licensed by perspectival realism is more credible in this context than its current alternative, the fragmentalist interpretation of special relativity.

Adaptability of brazilian beans cultivars to industrial canning

ABSTRACT: A current alternative for meeting the modern consumer’s beans food demands is the industrial processing. This study evaluated the adaptability of eight Brazilian beans cultivars to industrial canning from commercial class cultivars of Carioca and of Black beans. The grains were processed in an industry sector using metallic cans with a capacity of 420 g, where the samples were conditioned without previous hydration. The cooking and sterilization process took place in a rotating autoclave. Quality parameters were evaluated in the canned beans. As a result, it was verified that, for the Carioca class, the Estilo cultivar differs from the rest of the genetic materials in terms of its low drained weight, which contributes to the increase in the total solids in the sauce, which have low hardness values. Estilo cultivar is not suitable for the type of processing used in this experiment. For the Black class, similar quality characteristics were observed between Esplendor and Uirapuru and between Esteio and Campeiro cultivars, where the latter stands out due to its lower damaged bean indices after processing. Finally, with the information present in this paper we intend to contribute to future researches on this subject and thereby increase the consumption and exportation of beans as processed product.
