Sliding methods for the higher order fractional laplacians

In this paper, we develop a sliding method for the higher order fractional Laplacians. We first obtain the key ingredients to obtain monotonicity of solutions, such as narrow region maximum principles in bounded or unbounded domains. Then we introduce a new idea of estimating the singular integrals defining the fractional Laplacian along a sequence of approximate maximum points and illustrate how this sliding method can be employed to obtain monotonicity of solutions. We believe that the narrow region maximum principles will become useful tools in analyzing higher order fractional equations.

Constipação Crônica: Tratamento com Ventosaterapia - Estudo de Caso

Background: Constipation is a symptom defined by the ocurrence of any manifestation such as ificulty or pain when evacuationg and bowel movements less than three times a week. In recent years, chronic intestinal constipation has been considered a public heath problem due to its high prevalence. There are several types of constipation among the functional one stands out which is characterized by the absence of defined organic causes, usually treated with the ingestion of fibers, liquids and physical exercises. Conventional methods with diets and medicines are not always sufficient. Objective: Analyzing the effects of treatment with ventosatherapy in severe constipation. Methods: A questionnaire was prepared and applied to the person responsible for the municipal health department of each municipality. Results: Clinical case study with a 28-year-old volunteer patient with severe constipation. The technique used in the study was sliding cupping therapy. One session a week was held for 13 weeks. Conclusion: The symptoms of constipation disappeared in the fourth session contiuing with a daily bowel movement until the end of the intervention. The sliding method therapy technique was effective in the treatment of severe constipation.

Some Qualitative Properties of Traveling Wave Fronts of Nonlocal Diffusive Competition-Cooperation Systems of Three Species with Delays

This paper is concerned with nonlocal diffusion systems of three species with delays. By modified version of Ikehara’s theorem, we prove that the traveling wave fronts of such system decay exponentially at negative infinity, and one component of such solutions also decays exponentially at positive infinity. In order to obtain more information of the asymptotic behavior of such solutions at positive infinity, for the special kernels, we discuss the asymptotic behavior of such solutions of such system without delays, via the stable manifold theorem. In addition, by using the sliding method, the strict monotonicity and uniqueness of traveling wave fronts are also obtained.

T-CNV: a robust tool for detecting and visualizing copy number variants in targeted sequencing data.

Background Copy number variants (CNVs) are widespread among human genes, causing Mendelian or sporadic traits, or associating with complex diseases. Several tools have been developed for CNV assessment based on next generation sequencing (NGS) data using Read-depth (RD) strategy. However, maintaining high level of sensitivity and specificity is always challenging. Here, we present a novel, powerful, user-friendly and open accessed tool, T-CNV for CNV detection and visualization in targeted NGS panel.Results T-CNV consists of primary CNV detection and CNV candidates confirmation steps. After computing log2 values of normalized read depth ratio of tumor and normal/control sample, T-CNV confirms each possible CNV candidates by bins method, Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) clustering approach and window-sliding method. We benchmarked its capacity with MLPA-validated dataset. Compared to three other advanced tools, T-CNV presents excellent performance with 95.42% sensitivity, 99.93% specificity and 93.63% positive predict value in MLPA-validated dataset, while achieving satisfactory performance in simulation study (sensitivity 65.95%, positive predict value 88.71% at coverage 100X).Conclusions T-CNV is a novel and robust tool for CNV detection and visualization in targeted NGS panel consisting of determination of possible CNV candidates and further confirmation by three different methods. Three-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis on En-Masse Retraction of the Maxillary Anterior Teeth With Quantitative Combined Loading Control

This study aims to elucidate the biomechanical effects of combined loading of maxillary anterior and posterior implants using the sliding method on en-masse retraction of the anterior teeth and to quantify the loading ratio (LR) of anterior and posterior implants to achieve controlled retraction of the maxillary anterior teeth. A three-dimensional finite element model of the maxilla-upper dentition appliance was constructed. Implants were placed on the distal (A) and mesial (B) sides of the lateral incisors as well as on the mesial (C) side of the first molar and different amounts of force were loaded between the implants using 2- or 5-mm traction hooks. The labiolingual movement of the anterior teeth was recorded and the relationship between the LR of the implants and the movement of the central incisors was evaluated. With 2-mm traction hooks, the central incisors exhibited a translation tendency during retraction at lower A/C and B/C LR and labial or lingual crown inclination at higher values. With 5-mm traction hooks, the central incisors, lateral incisors, and canine teeth exhibited a labial crown inclination. The results of this study suggest that 2-mm traction hooks can cause labial crown inclination, translation tendency during retraction, or lingual crown inclination of the central incisors due to alterations in the LR of the anterior and posterior implants. The central incisors only exhibited labial crown inclination during combined loading of the anterior and posterior implants when 5-mm traction hooks were used.
