The asymptotic behavior of resolvents of a proper convex lower semicontinuous function is studied in the various settings of spaces. In this paper, we consider the asymptotic behavior of the resolvents of a sequence of functions defined in a complete geodesic space. To obtain the result, we assume the Mosco convergence of the sets of minimizers of these functions.

This paper shows that the self-concordance parameter of the universal barrier on any n-dimensional proper convex domain is upper bounded by n. This bound is tight and improves the previous O(n) bound by Nesterov and Nemirovski. The key to our main result is a pair of new, sharp moment inequalities for s-concave distributions, which could be of independent interest.

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>We consider a convex composite minimization problem, whose objective is the sum of a relatively-strongly convex function and a closed proper convex function. A dual Bregman proximal gradient method is proposed for solving this problem and is shown that the convergence rate of the primal sequence is <inline-formula><tex-math id="M1">\begin{document}$ O(\frac{1}{k}) $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>. Moreover, based on the acceleration scheme, we prove that the convergence rate of the primal sequence is <inline-formula><tex-math id="M2">\begin{document}$ O(\frac{1}{k^{\gamma}}) $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>, where <inline-formula><tex-math id="M3">\begin{document}$ \gamma\in[1,2] $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> is determined by the triangle scaling property of the Bregman distance.</p>

AbstractIn the present paper, monotone relations and maximal monotone relations from an Hadamard space to its linear dual space are investigated. Fitzpatrick transform of monotone relations in Hadamard spaces is introduced. It is shown that Fitzpatrick transform of a special class of monotone relations is proper, convex and lower semi-continuous. Finally, a representation result for monotone relations is given.

The well-known construction scheme to define a partial order on a vector space is to use a proper convex cone. Applying this idea to the gyrovector space we construct the partial order, called a gyro-order. We also give several inequalities of gyrolines and cogyrolines in terms of the gyro-order.

We address the minimization of the sum of a proper, convex and lower semicontinuous function with a (possibly nonconvex) smooth function from the perspective of an implicit dynamical system of forward-backward type. The latter is formulated by means of the gradient of the smooth function and of the proximal point operator of the nonsmooth one. The trajectory generated by the dynamical system is proved to asymptotically converge to a critical point of the objective, provided a regularization of the latter satisfies the Kurdyka−Łojasiewicz property. Convergence rates for the trajectory in terms of the Łojasiewicz exponent of the regularized objective function are also provided.

Using Bregman functions, we introduce the new concept of Bregman generalizedf-projection operatorProjCf, g:E*→C, whereEis a reflexive Banach space with dual spaceE*; f: E→ℝ∪+∞is a proper, convex, lower semicontinuous and bounded from below function;g: E→ℝis a strictly convex and Gâteaux differentiable function; andCis a nonempty, closed, and convex subset ofE. The existence of a solution for a class of variational inequalities in Banach spaces is presented.

AbstractWe prove that the set of all support points of a nonempty closed convex bounded set C in a real infinite-dimensional Banach space X is AR(σ-compact) and contractible. Under suitable conditions, similar results are proved also for the set of all support functionals of C and for the domain, the graph, and the range of the subdifferential map of a proper convex lower semicontinuous function on X.
