In this communication, we summarise our results related to light-induced orientational phenomena at liquid crystal–polymer interfaces. We investigated photoalignment for various nematics at the interface with the photosensitive polymer layer polymethyl methacrilate functionalised with azo dye Disperse Red 1. It was found that the efficiency of photoalignment exhibits marked differences depending on the structure of the rigid core of the liquid crystal molecules. It was demonstrated that the photo-orientation process is also significantly affected by the type of mesophase in which irradiation is carried out. The observations highlight the importance of the mutual influence of the polymer and the liquid crystal in light-induced processes.

In order to improve the properties of biodegradable polylactide (PLA), mixtures with polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT) were prepared. PLA is a bio-based and renewable biodegradable material, made from starch. PBAT is a biodegradable polyester for compostable film. In order to improve the composite properties, two types of additives were implemented via melt mixing, a chain extender (CE) and montmorillonite (MMT). CE was used as an interfacial modifier to enhance the adhesion between components. Montmorillonite is a widely studied clay added to polymer nanocomposites. Due to the lamellar structure, it improves the barrier properties of materials. PLA/PBAT films were oriented in the extrusion process and the amounts of filler introduced into the PLA/PBAT nanocomposites were 1.0, 3.0, and 5.0%. The improvement in the PLA barrier properties by the addition of PBAT and 5% of MMT was confirmed as the oxygen permeability decreased almost by a factor of 3. The addition of the biodegradable polymer, chain extender, montmorillonite, and the implemented orientation process resulted in a decrease in composite viscosity and an increase in the PLA crystallinity percentage (up to 25%), and the wettability tests confirmed the synergic behavior of the selected polymer blend.

AbstractAerodynamic feeding systems represent one possibility to meet the challenges of part feeding for automated production in terms of feeding performance and flexibility. The aerodynamic feeding system investigated in this article is already able to adapt itself to different workpieces using a genetic algorithm. However, due to the operating principle, the system is susceptible to changes in environmental conditions such as air pressure and pollution (e.g. dust). To minimise the effect of ambient influences, the system must be enabled to detect changes in the feeding rate and react autonomously by adapting the system’s adjustment parameters. In this work, based on pre-identified factors interfering with the aerodynamic orientation process, a new approach is developed to react to changes of the ambient conditions during operation. The presented approach makes us of an alternating sequence of monitoring and corrective algorithms. The monitoring algorithm measures the ratio of correctly oriented parts to the total number of fed parts of the process and triggers the corrective algorithm if necessary. Simulated and experimental results both show that an increased feeding rate can be achieved in varying conditions. Furthermore, it is shown that integrating both known process and parameter information can reduce the time for re-parametrisation of the feeding system.

The neocortex is stereotypically organized into layers of excitatory neurons arranged in a precise parallel orientation. Here we show that dynamic adhesion both preceding and following radial migration is essential for this organization. Neuronal adhesion is regulated by the Mowat-Wilson syndrome-associated transcription factor Zeb2 (Sip1/Zfhx1b) through direct repression of independent adhesion pathways controlled by Neuropilin-1 (Nrp1) and Cadherin-6 (Cdh6). We reveal that to initiate radial migration, neurons must first suppress adhesion to the extracellular matrix. Zeb2 regulates the multipolar stage by transcriptional repression of Nrp1 and thereby downstream inhibition of integrin signaling. Upon completion of migration, neurons undergo an orientation process that is independent of migration. The parallel organization of neurons within the neocortex is controlled by Cdh6 through atypical regulation of integrin signaling via its RGD motif. Our data shed light on the mechanisms that regulate initiation of radial migration and the postmigratory orientation of neurons during neocortical development.

The orientation process done by coaches and academicians in swimmers’ selection was based on apparent indicators and somebody and physical indicators. Yet the development in genetic studies and applying it to each swimmer will be more accurate. The researchers aimed at studying the athlete’s genes, performance genes based on genetic studies so as to compare among the three versions of the gene and matching it to the corresponding physical abilities. This study sheds the light on swimmers’ orientation and selection through comparing genes a matter that can help specify what is suitable for 30m freestyle swimmers.

Skin marks or a fingerprint represents today, the study object for different categories of scientists, including medical genetics and sports. The sports profile based on the fingerprints can lead towards the selection and orientation in handball. The aim of this study is to show that the characteristics of the fingerprints show us what dominant physical quality one has, how many symbols a player has and how that helps into relation with handball playing. The fingerprint characteristics bring us closer into knowing the most developed physical quality. It can ease the selection and orientation process into finding children with true abilities for handball.

In 2021 Indonesia's Corruption Perception Index was ranked 102, sliding sharply from rank 85th in 2019. Surveys indicate that Indonesia is in an emergency zone of corruption. In a survey conducted by Transparency International from June 2019 to June 2020, with observers  public service users on the basis of good corporate governance (GCG) to public officials in public service centers in 180 countries.  Indonesia is equivalent with countries such as Gambia.   Ironically, the survey was announced three months before the two arrests of two government officials in two strategic positions in the republic.  A worrying fact, as Indonesia grapples with the economic downturn caused by the pandemic, the sea of work relations breakers, the huge financial needs of the country's social assistance for indonesians affected by the pandemic, the officials of strategic departments are caught in the criminality of corruption. The legal precedent involving state officials is not the first event, but rather occurs because of the weak legal apparatus, the pattern of existing work culture, inadequate education on corruption and low public knowledge regarding the prevention of corruption. Community Service (PKM) aims to provide education for the younger generation with the objective mainly prevention of corruption with a constructive process that is assessments of the BNSP Certification (National Professional Certification Agency) as an Anticorruption Extension that has legal legitimacy. Respondents or assessments involved are 100 (one hundred) people in the campuses in the Jakarta province in the period of  June 2020 to May 2021. This BNSP Certification Process involves LSP (Professional Certification Body) P3 National Integrity Extension Builder (LSP P3 PIB) in circa 4 (four) months completed. Starting from the General Orientation process, followed by the Technical Orientation process, the filing process, Pre Assessment, then ending with the Competency Test process which the whole procession was accompanied by assessment subject and assessors from LSP P3 PIB. The conclusion of this PKM activity is, the respondents in this case the Assessment strongly animates all processes until obtained competency 90% of the overall Assessment.

We understand soft skills as an integrated set of knowledge, skills and values that facilitate the effective, affective and efficient development of a skill or activity. The objective of this study was to identify the soft skills that are most often used in the orientation process and those that improve employability, according to Spanish counselors. A qualitative methodology was used. The participants (n = 57) were orientation professionals. A total of 273 interviews were conducted over five years. The results and conclusions show that communication and decision-making are the most important competencies in the orientation process and at the level of employability, followed by intrapersonal skills, skills in interpersonal relationships, teamwork, problem solving, adaptation to new situations, creativity and leadership.

After the formal initiative is finished, the project team continues working to secure and perpetuate the progress made in reducing Foley usage and institutionalizing the bladder bundle checklist. Members put into effect plans formulated during the initiative’s early days. The evaluation of catheter use and of infection rates goes on, though the data collection intervals are farther apart. Successes are promoted throughout the hospital, a reminder that the initiative continues. A major mission is to identify backsliders and realign them. Because of the possibility that champions will leave the hospital or be reassigned, current champions are urged to develop their replacements. The team makes sure that the orientation process for new arrivals to the hospital includes prevention information related to catheter-associated urinary tract infection and the hospital’s protocols concerning Foley insertion and removal.
