Penelitian tentang organisme bentos telah dilakukan pada Agustus 2OO4 di perairan Selat Malaka (Propinsi Sumatera Utara dan Riau) dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi struktur komunitasmakrozoobentos yang meliputi komposisi jenis, kepadatan, dan indeks keragaman hayati bentos. Pengambilan sampel substrat dilakukan secara acak terpilih menggunakan Grab Bottom Sampler, ukuran 20x20 cm di 40 titik stasiun.
