Experimental study on SAR reduction from cell phones

<p class="Abstract">The actual problem of the human exposure to different types of electromagnetic field sources is a challenging one and should be considered an up to date issue due to one major actual trend: the increasingly intensive penetration of various wireless communication technologies in virtually all places and times that make up our daily lives. The here presented paper presents an experimental study focused on measurements for three types of mobile phones, belonging to different generations, operating at the two characteristic frequencies of the GSM bandwidth. We have been used a SATIMO-COMOSAR evaluation dosimetry system, provided by the LICETER laboratory of ANCOM Romania. The determined values of the absorbed incident energy by the tissue of a mannequin (phantom) model for the human head, which is part of the dosimetry system, have been also compared with those obtained in the case when the mobile phones are protected by multilayer cases, aiming to study their possible limiting effect. The influence that ”touch” or ”tilt” positions might have on absorbed (by the human head model) incident energy values has also been investigated. The comparative processing of the obtained results allowed the formulation of recommendations on reducing the exposure to electromagnetic radiation associated with the use of the mobile phone. Comparisons Inform Me Who I Am: A General Comparative-Processing Model of Self-Perception

People’s self-concept contributes to their sense of identity over time. Yet self-perception is motivated and serves survival and thus does not reflect stable inner states or accurate biographical accounts. Research indicates that different types of comparison standards act as reference frames in evaluating attributes that constitute the self. However, the role of comparisons in self-perception has been underestimated, arguably because of lack of a guiding framework that takes into account relevant aspects of comparison processes and their interdependence. I propose a general comparative model of self-perception that consists of a basic comparison process involving the individual’s prior mental representation of the target dimension, the construal of the comparison standard, and the comparison outcome representing the posterior representation of the target dimension. The generated dimensional construal is then appraised with respect to one’s motives and controllability and goes on to shape emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses. Contextual and personal factors influence the comparison process. This model may be informative in better understanding comparison processes in people’s everyday lives and their role in shaping self-perception and in designing interventions to assist people overcome undesirable consequences of comparative behavior.

Ultra-sensitive nanoLC-MS using second generation micro pillar array LC technology with Orbitrap Exploris 480 and FAIMS PRO to enable single cell proteomics

ABSTRACTIn the light of the ongoing single-cell revolution, scientific disciplines are combining forces to retrieve as much relevant data as possible from trace amounts of biological material. For single cell proteomics, this implies optimizing the entire workflow from initial cell isolation down to sample preparation, liquid chromatography (LC) separation, mass spectrometer (MS) data acquisition and data analysis. To demonstrate the potential for single cell and limited sample proteomics, we report on a series of benchmarking experiments where we combine LC separation on a new generation of micro pillar array columns with state-of-the-art Orbitrap MS/MS detection and High-Field Asymmetric Waveform Ion Mobility Spectrometry (FAIMS). This dedicated limited sample column has a reduced cross section and micro pillar dimensions that have been further downscaled (inter pillar distance and pillar diameter by a factor of 2), resulting in improved chromatography at reduced void times. A dilution series of a HeLa tryptic digest (5-0.05 ng/μL) was used to explore the sensitivity that can be achieved. Comparative processing of the MS/MS data with Sequest HT, MS Amanda, Mascot and SpectroMine pointed out the benefits of using Sequest HT together with INFERYS when analyzing samples amounts below 1 ng. 2855 proteins were identified from just 1 ng of HeLa lysate, hereby increasing detection sensitivity as compared to a previous contribution by a factor well above 10. By successfully identifying 1486 proteins from as little as 250 pg of HeLa tryptic digest, we demonstrate outstanding sensitivity with great promise for use in limited sample proteomics workflows.

Sistem Optimasi Penjadwalan Mesin Produksi Menggunakan Metode GUPTA Berbasis Android

Research has been carried out by developing an optimization information system for scheduling production machines by applying the Android-based GUPTA method. This android-based application is able to optimize production time, because in the android application it implements the GUPTA algorithm which uses the calculation of the comparative processing time on every machine in the company by prioritizing the smallest processing time for scheduling which aims to optimize production scheduling time, by paying attention to the value of makespan to produce product size 12 griddle, size 14 griddle, 16 size griddle, 18 size griddle and 20 size griddle so that an optimal makespan value is obtained. The GUPTA method can be used in problems with more than two machines, because this method combines the time of each process on the first and subsequent machines to find the minimum value and can only be used in pure flow shop scheduling. The advantage of this method is that it determines scheduling only on one machine group. This research resulted in an Android-based application that can schedule products to be produced by machines automatically. From the results of testing with a total of 12 pieces of production in each product with a total of 5 different sizes, the minimum value of makespan is obtained, namely 2054569 minutes with the sequence of product processing with work order 12 griddle, griddle 18, griddle 20, griddle 16, and griddle 14 The accuracy of the application test results shows 98.87% for the first time and 98.84% for the second time when compared with manual calculations.
