This study examines the relationship between the university students' news media use, the perception of politics, and their attitude towards political involvement in Lahore in the framework of media mobilization or media malaise perspective. It also examines if this relationship is moderated by traditional and online news media. Data was gathered from an online survey of 300 students enrolled in the three private universities in Lahore. The survey results of the university students revealed that mostly students receive their political information passively from Facebook and Television and do not actively seek out political news through newspapers, magazines or websites. Facebook seems to be the most favored source of information among students. All the students, irrespective of their background and academic disciplines, appear to consume media more or less in the same way. Overall, the students have neutral or negative views about politics and are largely uninterested in political activities. They do not find it important and beneficial. However, it is found that the students attentive to political news and information are more likely to hold a positive perception of politics and see involvement in politics more positively. The study, therefore, concluded that among the university students of Lahore, media mobilization theory holds true for traditional media. However, for online media, media malaise theory seems to hold more weight.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the current state of the language of the Ukrainian media as an indicator of the linguistic culture of modern society. Research methodology. The interdisciplinary nature of the study led to the use of general scientific methods, in particular, unstructured systematic observation and descriptive technique. The scientific novelty lies in the generalization of linguistic trends in modern media, in explaining the reasons for linguistic shifts in recent decades. The article notes the dominant position in the stylistic system of our time of the language of the media, which has become the main factor in the productive functioning of the Ukrainian language, a factor that determines its cultural, historical, and historical and linguistic originality. In addition, the language of the media plays the role of a kind of model of the national language in the information society, largely shaping literary norms, language tastes, and preferences, influencing the perception of politics, art, literature, and the like. Hence the urgent need to comply with the language of the media literary norms. Conclusions. The conclusions note that one of the most important areas of studying the cultural aspect of the language of the media is to find out how the latter affects culture. The essence of this influence lies in the fact that the language of the media, which covers practically unlimited topics, significantly affects the literary language, and through it, the culture. The language of the media enriches the literary language, saturating it with evaluative turns, forming a refined language, developing techniques, and methods of discussion and polemics. Developing a literary language, the language of the media also contributes to the development of culture due to, for example, the qualities of speech such as flexibility, wealth, and a variety of functions. It is emphasized that the power and advantage of journalism plays an important role in the language of the media - in the direct impact on the addressee, the audience. Therefore, the mission of a journalist is to positively influence the mass audience, to correct its motivation, behavior, and worldview. It is concluded that the language of the media should be exemplary in terms of the competent use of linguistic ethics, correct word usage, the richness of vocabulary, expressive word-formation. Attention is drawn to the fact that the role of neological vocabulary in the media, which reflects the current processes in society, remains a problem in media speech. Further research is also required by the question of the characteristics of the media language and the prospects for its development.

The author analyses Hannah Arendt’s writings in search of inspirations for reflecting on the contemporary world’s problems in humanistic (school) education, finding such inspirations in the topics that interested the author of The Human Condition and in her perception of politics, citizenship and thinking as such. Koc’s thesis is that educational documents show a clear deficit of reflection on current challenges, often transnational, that need to be analysed from multiple angles. The article emphasises Arendt’s warningsabout non-thinking as an attitude conducive to totalitarianism, which should unsettle anyone interested in the concept of educating young people. Reconstructing Arendt’s axiology of citizenship and emphasising thevalue of journalistic texts as stories that uncover ambiguity and ask key questions, the author calls for a reconsideration of the nature of Polish language education in contemporary school.

In the new media debate, digital colonialism has become a topic of serious contention. This work looks into the allegation that the internet is exploitative of digital natives’ daily routine and regulates their lives. This study explores this argument in relation to the degree of consciousness of digital natives to seek out their perception of politics of Western domination in the WhatsApp usage. Therefore, the primary purpose of this paper is to find out whether digital slavery is real. Centre Periphery theory and Electronic Colonisation theory form the theoretical background of the study, which utilised questionnaires to determine areas of controversy. Using survey, we found that digital natives do not count the use of the WhatsApp as an element of colonialism. Consequently, 53.26% of the natives do not consider themselves enslaved to WhatsApp usage and thus its colonial powers; however, 28.26% view themselves as willing slaves consequent on the benefits from using the App, while an 18.48% are unsure of their position. Based on the results, it is argued that the concept of digital slavery in terms of absolute dependence on WhatsApp does not quite appeal to digital natives, except that the amount of time they spend on it could make them enslaved, whether or not they agree. To be surer of the level of influence of internet based apps on digital natives, it is recommended that further studies be conducted that will investigate the amount of time they spend on other apps, using a wider sample population. Keywords: Digital Colonialism, Digital Natives, WhatsApp Usage, Western Domination, Electronic Colonisation
