A Refined Lines/Regions and Lines/Lines Topological Relations Model Based on Whole-Whole Objects Intersection Components

Refined topological relations play an important role in spatial database quality control. Currently, there is no unified and reasonable method to represent refined line/region and line/line topological relations in two-dimensional (2D) space. In addition, the existing independent line/region and line/line models have some drawbacks such as incomplete type discrimination and too many topological invariants. In this paper, a refined line/region and line/line topological relations are represented uniformly by the sequence, dimension, and topological type of the intersection components. To make the relevant definitions conform to the traditional cognitions in 2D Euclidean space, the (simple) spatial object is defined based on manifold topology, and the spatial intersection components are defined based on the whole-whole object intersection set. Then the topological invariant of node degree is introduced, and the adjacent point kinds (e.g., “Null”, “On”, “In”, and “Out”) are defined to distinguish the intersection component types. Excluding impossible and symmetrical types, 29 types of intersection-lines (including 21 between lines/regions and 8 between lines/lines), and 6 types of intersection-points (including 2 between lines/regions and 4 between lines/lines) are classified. On this basis, a node degree-based whole-whole object intersection sets (N-WWIS) model for refined line/region and line/line topological relations is presented, and it can be combined with the Euler number-based whole object intersection and difference (E-WID) model (coarse level) to form a hierarchical representation method of topological relations. Furthermore, a prototype system based on the N-WWIS model for automatic topological integrity checking is developed and some evaluation experiments are conducted with OpenStreetMap (OSM) data is presented based on the classification of intersection components. The experimental results show that the N-WWIS model will enable the geographic information systems (GIS) community to develop automated topological conflict checking and dealing tools for spatial data updates and quality control.

The Similarity Comparison Algorithm of Free-Form Surfaces with Single Curvature Feature

This paper studies the shape similarity evaluation of free-form surfaces expressed by B-spline with single curvature feature and proposes a similarity evaluation algorithm based on curvature feature. Firstly, we calculate the normal vector direction of the two surfaces compared, and use it as the Z axis, so that the two surfaces are aligned on the Z axis. Then, the two surfaces are cut with planes that all perpendicular to the Z axis, and the intersection sets of two surfaces are obtained respectively. Finally, we design the similarity algorithm of plane curves to realize the similarity comparison of corresponding curves in the two sets of intersection, and which is used as the basis for evaluating the similarity between two surfaces. The algorithm transforms the problem of similarity comparison between 3D surfaces into two dimensional space by plane cutting method, and reduces the complexity of the problem effectively. The algorithm only needs to align one coordinate axis in the process of posture adjustment, so it is easy to implement. In order to test the effect of the algorithm, simulation experiments on different type of single curvature feature B-spline surfaces are carried out. The results show that the proposed similarity comparison algorithm of free-form surfaces is feasible and effective.

Applications of soft intersection sets to hemirings via SI-h-bi-ideals and SI-h-quasi-ideals

The aim of this paper is to lay a foundation for providing a soft algebraic tool in considering many problems that contains uncertainties. In order to provide these soft algebraic structures, we introduce the concepts of SI-h-bi-ideals and SI-h-quasi-ideals of hemirings. The relationships between these kinds of soft intersection h-ideals are established. Finally, some characterizations of h-hemiregular, h-intra-hemiregular and h-quasi-hemiregular hemirings are investigated by these kinds of soft intersection h-ideals.

(M,N)-Soft Intersection BL-Algebras and Their Congruences

The purpose of this paper is to give a foundation for providing a new soft algebraic tool in considering many problems containing uncertainties. In order to provide these new soft algebraic structures, we discuss a new soft set-(M, N)-soft intersection set, which is a generalization of soft intersection sets. We introduce the concepts of (M, N)-SI filters of BL-algebras and establish some characterizations. Especially, (M, N)-soft congruences in BL-algebras are concerned.
