Mulheres escritoras em diferentes esferas discursivas

Pensando no papel da fotografia na construção e reforço de múltiplos discursos, este artigo busca expandir a análise de Walter Benjamin em Pequena história da fotografia sobre a foto de atelier do escritor Franz Kafka. A consideração sobre o olhar triste e desolado de Kafka contrastando com o cenário planejado, para proporcionar uma imagem de aura luxuosa e enfeitada, trouxe um questionamento ampliado que este artigo busca responder: analisando pessoas que escreveram sobre si mesmas, quais são os pontos de contato e de divergência entre autorrepresentação por meio da escrita e pelo olhar dos outros por meio da câmera e das fotografias? Por ser de caráter ainda obscuro, o foco da investigação são autoras de diferentes épocas com estilos distintos entre si: Anne Frank e suas fotografias familiares, Sylvia Plath e o estabelecimento de um ideal feminino por meio das aparências e, por fim, a artista punk Patti Smith e os Estados Unidos como cenário mutável e de “refugo”. Para discorrer sobre os relatos dessas mulheres sobre si mesmas e suas imagens estabelecidas na história, este artigo recorre aos ensaios de Susan Sontag, relacionando fotografia, contexto histórico e literatura.

"Querido diário...” A construção do conhecimento histórico por meio dos quadrinhos de Anne Frank

O presente artigo analisa as possibilidades de construção do saber histórico por meio das histórias em quadrinhos, especificamente O diário de Anne Frank em Quadrinhos, adaptado por Mirella Spinelli (FRANK, 2017). Com base no aporte teórico produzido a partir das noções de consciência histórica, de Jörn Rüsen (2011), e de literacia e empatia histórica, de Peter Lee (2016, 2003), a pesquisa explora a adaptação literária, construindo uma proposta de ensino com o objetivo de favorecer a elaboração do conhecimento histórico pelos estudantes; além disso, mobiliza o aparato teórico-metodológico de Marc Bloch (2001) e Jörn Rüsen (2011). A análise da graphic novel como recurso didático evidenciou: a) a importância dos usos de diferentes fontes históricas em sala de aula; e b) as múltiplas possibilidades de percursos de aprendizagem dos estudantes, por meio de uma nova maneira de compreender e pensar a História, de modo específico, por meio das histórias em quadrinhos.

Globaler Antisemitismus und die Universalisierung der Shoah. Konstellationen der politischen Bildungsarbeit

Zusammenfassung Wenn Antisemitismus als globales Phänomen betrachtet wird, ist damit häufig auch eine Tendenz zur Universalisierung insbesondere der Shoah verbunden. Es wird nach verallgemeinerbaren Maßstäben gesucht, um Erinnerungen und Ideologien der Menschenverachtung zu vergleichen. In Deutschland dienen solche Ansätze oftmals zu einer Nivellierung der Besonderheit der deutschen Schuld und wirken damit öffentlich entlastend. Am Beispiel der Debatte um Achille Mbembe diskutiert die Probleme eines zur Universalisierung strebenden Erinnerns. Als Kontrast wird die Arbeit der Bildungsstätte Anne Frank vorgestellt, in der mit der Ausstellung „Anne Frank. Morgen mehr“ die Aufmerksamkeit auf die persönliche Beziehung zum historisch Konkreten gerichtet werden soll.

Batya Brutin, Holocaust Icons in Art: The Warsaw Ghetto Boy and Anne Frank. Berlin: Walter de Gruyter; Jerusalem: The Hebrew University Magnes Press, 2020. xvi + 213 pp.

This chapter reflects on Batya Brutin's Holocaust Icons in Art: The Warsaw Ghetto Boy and Anne Frank (2020). This volume documents the engagement of artistic creativity with the photographs of the boy with raised hands in the Warsaw ghetto (1943) and those of Anne Frank. In the six chapters detailing the various ways in which artists from different cultures and countries integrated these iconic figures into their oeuvre, Brutin acquaints the reader with dozens of artists who, at some point in their artistic development, opted to “express their thoughts, emotions and perceptions of the Holocaust.” These artists' works touch on various themes elaborated upon by Brutin: the fate of Jewish children in the Holocaust; personal identification with the iconic figures; their use to represent Jewish identity and universal human situations; their uniqueness; their imaginative connection with the state of Israel; and their “facelessness,” “disappearance,” and “disintegration.” Thus, the photographs have been used for decades by artists to perform a function in their art.

Conclusion

Perhaps the most famous and controversial witness from a victim of the Holocaust is Anne Frank’s: “in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.” Bruno Bettelheim pounced on this remark as a tragic blindness to and acquiescence in evil: “Anne Frank died because her parents could not get themselves to believe in Auschwitz. And her story found wide acclaim because for us too, it denies implicitly that Auschwitz ever existed. If all men are good, there was never an Auschwitz.” In concluding, I examine Anne Frank’s case and, contra Bettelheim, praise it as emblematic of Judaism generally. Anne was not naïve or in denial about Nazi wickedness; she was, rather, a Suffering Servant, a modern Mordecai. She did not bow down to temporal authority, but she refused to hate even when faced with despite and death. Thus she was a light to the nations.
