Translating Traditional Malay Pottery Motifs To Inspire Ceramic Surface Decoration Design

A particular ceramic product offered by the designers and manufacturers is measured based on its appearance and performance from aesthetic value, design and craftsmanship quality. Products in our daily life play an essential role in bringing us happiness, comfort, convenience and satisfaction to the consumers and buyers. In a Malay community in Malaysia, the Malay Traditional Pottery is one of the Malay arts heritage. Its products used to have a high demand among the locals as well as people from abroad. However, today, demand for Malay Traditional Pottery from the locals has declined significantly. Hence, to improve the product appearance, this study highlights one of the essential factors in ceramic design features, namely surface decoration, by using motifs derived from the Malay Traditional Pottery onto the new contemporary design of the local ceramic products. The surface decoration consists of motifs, patterns, colours, techniques and materials. Surface decoration study would give designers and local ceramic entrepreneurs the product appearance improvement. With such improvements, local ceramic products would become a preferred choice for the consumer’s daily use. This study also aimed to entice the designer to be involved in pattern design and ceramic product surfaces.

PERAN TAMPILAN PRODUK, KEAMANAN DAN KEMUDAHAN PADA KEPUTUSAN BERTRANSAKSI MENGGUNAKAN JASA PENGIRIMAN SHOPEE

This research aimed to test and analyze the role of product display, security and ease of transaction decisions using Shopee's shipping services. This research was conducted in the Surakarta area. The object of this research is consumers who have transacted using the Shopee application. The population in this study were consumers who had shopped using the Shopee application who had made transactions at the end of 2019. The sample determination process was carried out based on consumer experience in using the Shopee application. Furthermore, it was ensured that the consumers who were the samples of this study met the specified criteria and were willing to fill out the questionnaire. If they were not willing and do not meet the criteria, then the consumer was skipped and then researcher looked for other consumers who met the sample criteria. By using this technique, not all populations in this study had the same opportunities as research samples. In this study the sample was 56 respondents. This study resulted in a regression equation, it can be seen that product appearance, security and convenience have a positive effect on the decision to transact using Shopee's shipping services. The results of the t-statistical test show that product appearance, security and convenience partially have a significant effect on the decision to transact using Shopee's delivery service Keywords: Product Display, Security and Ease, Transaction Decision.

Peningkatan Motivasi Berproduksi Berbasis Sumber Daya Lokal di Kecamatan Rowosari, Kabupaten Kendal

Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan jiwa kewirausahaan bagai masyarakat di Rowosari Kabupaten Kendal melalui perbaikan tampilan produk. Penampilan produk sangatlah penting, karena konsumen akan semakin tertarik dan berminat untuk membeli. Selain itu kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan sumber daya lokal, khususnya buah pisang dan nangka sebagai bahan membuat ceriping. Fokus utama pada pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui kegiatan produktif. Kegiatan ini diawali melalui pertemuan masyarakat sasaran untuk menentukan jenis kegiatan, peserta, dan waktu pelaksanaan. Pada inti acara, tim pengabdian masyarakat FE-Unissula memberikan berbagai penyuluhan, khususnya� bidang� entrepreneurship, produksi, pembukuan, dan pemasaran produk. Selanjutnya, peserta diberikan ketrampilan praktek membuat ceriping pisang dan ceriping nangk, yang kemudian difokuskan pada kegiatan pembungkusan (packaging). Packaging merupakan tahapan penting dalam sistem pemasaran produk. Tim FE juga memberikan bantuan berupa alat pembungkusan dan plastik untuk packaging. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan daya tarik pada produk yang dipasarkan melalui penempilan produk yang lebih baik dan menarik.�The purpose of this community service is to improve the entrepreneurial spirit of the people in Rowosari, Kendal Regency through improving product appearance. Product appearance is very important, because consumers will be increasingly interested and interested in buying. In addition, this activity is carried out by utilizing local resources, especially bananas and jackfruit as ingredients for making ceriping. The main focus is on community empowerment through productive activities. This activity begins with a target community meeting to determine the type of activity, participants, and timing of implementation. At the core of the event, the FE-Unissula community service team provided various counseling, especially in the fields of entrepreneurship, production, bookkeeping, and product marketing. Furthermore, participants were given practical skills to make banana chips and jackfruit chips, which were then focused on packaging activities. Packaging is an important stage in the product marketing system. The FE team also provided assistance in the form of wrapping tools and plastic for packaging. This activity is expected to provide attractiveness to the products marketed through better and more attractive product display.
