Responses in terms of semantic association including paradigmatic and syntagmatic association, non semantic association including clang (phonological-related) and orthographical (spelling-related) association and random or other types of association of the freshman students in the College of Arts and Communication, University of Eastern Philippines was determined in this study. Secondly, this finds out whether AB LLT students which are the screened students in the college of arts and communication produce other types of responses besides the commonly known semantic responses. The instrument and stimuli was patterned after the study of Lan Wang of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA., entitled Word Association: Second Language Vocabulary Acquisition and Instruction. Modification was just made according to the locale of the study. Overall result of this study, the AB LLT respondents produced more semantic associations than the BSCrim, BSDevCom, ABPolSci, BSCD, ABPubAd and ABSocio respondents while the BSCrim,  BSDevCom, ABPolSci, BSCD, ABPubAd and ABSocio respondents produced more nonsemantic and random or other types of associations than the AB LLT respondents.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of religious utterances in everyday speech by Jordanian university students and those of U. S. university students. This study tries to compare and contrast the frequency of religious speech by Jordanian and American students in order to show cross-cultural similarities and variations, and to foreground connections among linguistic, cultural, and religious subtexts. The researchers contend that people, from various cultures paradigms, need to re-envision and reformulate their methods of interaction, both locally and globally. The study took place at IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania). Five Jordanian students and five American students are selected from various fields of study and specializations. They are mostly acquaintances who expressed their willingness to help with this study.  The researchers conducted ten personal interviews with all the participants, and each interview lasted about 30 minutes. The researchers chose to audio record the interviews because all the participants signed a consent form and thus gave us the permission to do so. All the participants are IUP students; most of them are undergraduate students, but three of them are doing graduate studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Not only did the researchers hand each participant a copy of the questionnaire, but they also explained the questions to them and ascertained that they fully understood each question. The participants were presented with the same exact questions to see how they respond to these situations, and the researchers interpreted their responses and have come up with conclusions about the integration of religious language in the parameters of everyday speech used by U.S. and Jordanian students. Basically, the data collected delineates similarities and differences between respondents from both cultures and features intersections between religiously marked language and everyday speech.

REVISITANDO OS EIXOS FUNDAMENTAIS DO DIREITO INTERNACIONAL E DAS RELAÇÕES INTERNACIONAIS POR MEIO DO REALISMO CLÁSSICO: NOVAS EPISTEMOLOGIAS E CATEGORIZAÇÕES REVISITING THE FUNDAMENTAL AXES OF THE INTERNATIONAL LAW AND THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS THROUGH CLASSICAL REALISM: NEW EPISTEMOLOGIES AND CATEGORIZATIONS Thales Cavalcanti Castro* RESUMO: O presente artigo visa a fornecer reflexões críticas e atualizadas sobre a intersecção teórica entre os eixos do Direito Internacional com o realismo político (maquiavélico-hobbesiano) presente nas epistemologias e práxis das Relações Internacionais contemporâneas. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Fundamentos do Direito Internacional. Realismo Político. Filosofia Política Internacionalista. Interdisciplinaridade. Teoria das Relações Internacionais. ABSTRACT: This article has the purpose to provide critical and updated analysis on the theoretical intersection of the pillars of international law with political realism (within the Machiavellian-Hobbesian perspective) present in current epistemology and practices of contemporary international relations. It is an interdisciplinary debate presented here, whose major premise is to reveal the possibilities of finding a way of synthesis (Hegelian Aufhebung) from both theoretical framework of the deontic view of international law with the ontic perspective of classical realism present in International Relations. The classical opus Political Testament of Cardinal Richelieu was used herein as a theoretical framework to reinforce the epistemological breakthrough of classical realism in Machiavelli. This article moreover presented the guidelines for a historical and conceptual revisit of the political realism enshrined in International Relations theoretical approaches with communicability with international law, thus generating conclusions in the light of Machiavelli’s classic opus, The Prince, as a way of approach to an international legal-normative framework more porous to the dynamics of the peoples’ interaction today.  KEYWORDS: International law foundations. Political realism. Political philosophy of International Relations. Interdisciplinarity. International Relations Theory. *  Coordenador da graduação e pós-graduação em Relações Internacionais da FADIC (Faculdade Damas da Instrução Cristã). Internship courses, unlike others, are multi-pronged because they require coordination at different levels. Typically, a faculty coordinates the communication and implementation at these multiple levels to lead the completion of internship courses. We call the position that this faculty holds and does all this communication/coordination the “internship coordinator”. For the work of the internship coordinator to be successful, he/she must synchronize the work of the internship with all parties involved. Failure to coordinate at one level or another may affect the work of other parties involved in completing the internship for the students. This paper explains the experience of an internship program at the computer science department (COSC) at Indiana University Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). We focus on the work on the internship coordinator for this program and his work to communicate and coordinate to successfully implement the internship experience for the students. We first present in this paper the theoretical foundation that has led to the development of internship programs in academia. We also elaborate at the multiple levels and their role in completing the internship experience for the students. A revised version of this paper was published in the journal Issues in Informing Science and Information Technology Volume 12, 2015
