Abstract This paper is devoted to the study of the asymptotics of Monge–Ampère volumes of direct images associated with high tensor powers of an ample line bundle. We study the leading term of this asymptotics and provide a classification of bundles saturating the topological bound of Demailly. In the special case of high symmetric powers of ample vector bundles, this provides a characterization of those admitting projectively flat Hermitian structures.

We consider and resolve the gap problem for almost quaternion-Hermitian structures, i.e. we determine the maximal and submaximal symmetry dimensions, both for Lie algebras and Lie groups, in the class of almost quaternion-Hermitian manifolds. We classify all structures with such symmetry dimensions. Geometric properties of the submaximally symmetric spaces are studied, in particular, we identify locally conformally quaternion-Kähler structures as well as quaternion-Kähler with torsion.

We define the conformal change and elementary deformation in generalized complex geometry. We apply Swann’s twist construction to generalized (almost) complex and Hermitian structures obtained by these operations and establish conditions for the Courant integrability of the resulting twisted structures. We associate to any appropriate generalized Kähler manifold [Formula: see text] with a Hamiltonian Killing vector field a new generalized Kähler manifold, depending on the choice of a pair of non-vanishing functions and compatible twist data. We study this construction when [Formula: see text] is toric, with emphasis on the four-dimensional case, and we apply it to deformations of the standard flat Kähler metric on [Formula: see text], the Fubini–Study metric on [Formula: see text] and the admissible Kähler metrics on Hirzebruch surfaces. As a further application, we recover the K/K (Kähler/Kähler) correspondence, by specializing to ordinary Kähler manifolds.

We study the transport properties of multi-terminal Hermitian structures within the non-equilibrium Green’s function formalism in a tight-binding approximation. We show that non-Hermitian Hamiltonians naturally appear in the description of coherent tunneling and are indispensable for the derivation of a general compact expression for the lead-to-lead transmission coefficients of an arbitrary multi-terminal system. This expression can be easily analyzed, and a robust set of conditions for finding zero and unity transmissions (even in the presence of extra electrodes) can be formulated. Using the proposed formalism, a detailed comparison between three- and two-terminal systems is performed, and it is shown, in particular, that transmission at bound states in the continuum does not change with the third electrode insertion. The main conclusions are illustratively exemplified by some three-terminal toy models. For instance, the influence of the tunneling coupling to the gate electrode is discussed for a model of quantum interference transistor. The results of this paper will be of high interest, in particular, within the field of quantum design of molecular electronic devices.
