Big data has broken through the public imagination, has revolutionised the process through which business find innovative ways, and has transformed the data into valuable information that will shape business intelligence and gain business insights to make better decisions. The purpose of this study is to review the development of big data, architecture, and the use of big data in marketing analytics. From the analysis of literature reviews, a big data in marketing analytics model has been proposed. In using big data in marketing, marketers need balanced analytics and then identify opportunities for improvement based on reporting or analysing past and present big data to predict and influence the future.

Islam, indigeneity, and religious difference in a secular context: Canadian case studies

This paper analyzes the hardening religious difference in contemporary Canadian society and explains why the presence of Muslims, including new converts, constantly incites in the public imagination the primordial threat of Islam to the secular accomplishments of Canadian society. It instead emanates from the self-understanding of the majority of Canadians that defined the nation as essentially Christians and simultaneously secular.

The chivalric tomb in fifteenth-century Portugal

The fifteenth-century Portuguese nobility was a proud and image-conscious social group that transformed tombs into opportunities for self-promotion. Manifesting changing conceptualizations of history and agency, the nobility’s elaborately sculpted sepulchres also reveal the means of successful social advancement in this society. The ruling dynasty of Avís encouraged the chivalric ethos of the long fifteenth century to exert control over the powerful nobility and validate their expansionist agenda in Africa. This profoundly shaped the visual idiom of funerary sculpture, resulting in the emergence of the ‘chivalric tomb’ in Portugal. Taking advantage of the blurred lines between chivalry and politics and between history and propaganda, Portuguese aristocrats began to manipulate their posthumous images to construct enduring, positive legacies in the public imagination. Aristocratic Portuguese tombs remain virtually untapped sources of social-historical information, particularly through their display of consistent commemorative strategies ranging from genealogical epitaphs to figural portrayals of Africans. Drawing on extensive fieldwork and archival research and offering a close examination of these monuments through visual, literary and historical evidence, this article explores the artistic intersection of death and memory in late medieval Portuguese society and elucidates how aristocratic funerary monuments performed a persuasive, as well as memorial, function.

In this review article, there is a collection of evidence that describes the myths and facts regarding intermittent fasting (IF). Fasting is an age­ old practice, often done for religious reasons, but fasting for weight loss is still capturing the public imagination. Intermittent fasting and Calories restriction (CR) is worldwide popular in men and women of all ages, it has become fitness trend to help them maintain healthand lose weight. It also has positive as well as negative impacts on metabolic activities. There are potential researches that analyze IF and CR as beneficial for Weight loss, Cardiovascular diseases, Cancer, Cognitive, Type 2 diabetes, and reduce Oxidative stress. Similarly, there are some facts and myths that are related to IF and CR which are worth knowing.

Practical lessons for creating affordance-based interventions for sustainable behavior change

Radical collective behavior change is required to develop sustainable forms of urban life. This demands redesign of everyday environments. However, the ways in which our material world shape our behaviors are still understudied and underappreciated. Not much is known about how collective behaviors are facilitated through infrastructural or material interventions. Here, we draw upon 15 years of experience at RAAAF, an Amsterdam-based collective for visual art and architecture, to introduce ten practical lessons for developing strategic design interventions for affordance-based behavior change in urban environments. Affordances are the possibilities for action provided by the environment. Strategic design interventions aim to set collective social change in motion by developing sustainable affordances and dismantling unsustainable behavioral constraints. Strategic design interventions seek to inspire policies and public imagination. Whereas scientific studies aim to describe reality as it is, RAAAF’s material interventions help imagine how the shared urban environment could be in the future.

Shrunken Life: Discourses of the Cryptic and the Miniature in Madagascar

As scientists scour remnant habitats and “unmask” cryptic species with DNA barcoding, a boom of species discovery has enchanted the world. In Madagascar, recent discoveries of previously unknown miniature frogs, chameleons, and lemurs often photographed on human fingers or cradled in hands, have captured the public imagination. In this imagery of scale, the giant finger conveys the outsized impact of humanity on Earth, or points to what Susan Stewart (1996, p. 74) calls “a physical world of disorder and disproportion.” Although the phenomenon of insular gigantism and dwarfism has shaped scientific discourses of evolution and extinction since the nineteenth century, recent reportage on “new” miniature and cryptic species reflects a sensibility beyond wistful nostalgia for creatures past. Species miniaturism evolves out of habitat loss, and living minifauna encapsulate the contraction of existential time, all the more pronounced by the effects of climate change. Photographs of cryptic minifauna therefore compel us to reflect on the whole of our losses, while they fuel the impulse to restock the “library of life” at micro-scale.

The Diminished Public, and Black Christian Promotion of American Civic Ideals

Black public activism has been guided largely by black affinities toward the U.S. Constitution, including its core democratic liberalist premises. This range of constitutionally defined political possibilities has both animated (and confined) a sense of public imagination and agency for many black Christians. Divergences and convergences between black religion-based public confidence and dissent are examined here, with reference to three paradigmatic approaches: (1) civil religious patriotism; (2) religious counter-publics; and (3) socio-religious liminality and semi-publics. Contrasts and continuities between these approaches are examined with attention to the impact of these approaches on a beleaguered and diminished American public realm and their relative affirmations or negations of broad understandings and undertakings of public purposes.

ARKA WATAK ADIWIRA BOBOIBOY: FASA PERUBAHAN DALAM MODEL NARATIF CHRISTOPHER VOGLER

Tahun 2019 meletakkan Malaysia dalam kegemilangan filem bergenre adiwira. Dua penerbit besar, iaitu Animonsta Studio menghasilkan BoBoiboy Movie 2 dan WAU Animation Studio menghasilkan Ejen Ali The Movie, masing-masing menghasilkan keunikan watak adiwira dan kuasa mereka tersendiri. Namun begitu, industri filem animasi daripada genre adiwira masih berada di tahap yang tidak mampu berdaya saing. Hal ini dapat dilihat daripada 17 buah filem animasi yang dihasilkan daripada tahun 1998 tahun sehingga tahun 2019, hanya empat sahaja filem adiwira berjaya mendapat perhatian penonton. Animasi merupakan medium emosi, namun pemfokusan ke arah visual dalam reka bentuk watak dan naratif penceritaan sahaja tidak memadai. Sebaliknya, sebuah penceritaan mengajak audiens untuk masuk ke dalam posisi adiwira dan melihat dunia mereka melalui visual penonton. Oleh itu, objektif utama penulisan ini bertujuan menganalisis fasa perubahan arka watak adiwira Boboiboy dalam filem animasi BoBoiBoy Movie 2 (2019). Reka bentuk kajian ini merupakan kualitatif berbentuk analisis deskriptif dan menggunakan model The Character Arc yang diperkenalkan oleh Vogler (2007) menerusi bukunya bertajuk, The Writer's Journey. Kajian ini mendapati fasa perubahan watak adiwira Boboiboy dapat dilihat menerusi tindakan dan penampilannya. Perubahan ini dipengaruhi daripada dua dunia yang berbeza, iaitu dunia biasa dan dunia khas. Boboiboy menjalani 12 fasa konflik dalaman yang berbeza sehingga mencapai kejayaan dan memperoleh kuasa luar biasa untuk dikongsi sebagai rahmat bersama. Diharapkan dapatan analisis ini dapat dijadikan kayu ukur dalam aspek perkembangan watak dan perwatakan, sekali gus memberangsangkan lagi minat audiens. The year 2019 marks the heyday of superhero films in Malaysia. BoBoiboy Movie 2 was produced by Animonsta studio, and Agent Ali The Movie was produced by WAU Animation studio, with each producing their own unique superhero characters and powers. Nonetheless, the animated film industry in the superhero genre remains uncompetitive. As shown by the 17 animated films made between 1998 and 2019, only four superhero films captured the public imagination. Although animation is an emotional medium, focusing solely on the visuals in character design and storytelling narrative is insufficient. Instead, a narrative invites the audience to put themselves in the place of superheroes and experience their world through the audience’s eyes. As a result, the main objective of this article is to examine the arc of the superhero character Boboiboy in the animated film BoBoiBoiBoy Movie 2 (2019). This study’s design is qualitative in the form of descriptive analysis, and it employs the model of The Character Arc introduced by Christopher Vogler (2007) in his book The Writer’s Journey. This research shows that the character of the superhero Boboiboy’s phase of change can be seen through his actions and appearance. These transitions are shaped by two distinct worlds, the ordinary and the extraordinary. Boboiboy goes through 12 stages of internal conflict before achieving success and gaining extraordinary powers to share as a collective privilege. It is hoped that the results of this study will be used as a benchmark for character growth and characterization while also stimulating the audience’s interest.

Introduction

The book gains new insights into the history of Britain’s stock market by foregrounding the power of popular knowledge and specific market practices from a ‘bottom-up’ perspective. Alongside high-level financiers, the voices of the small-scale participants of the market will be heard, an approach that yields a subtle narrative of cultural change and adaptation. Throughout the century, a popular knowledge of the stock market was promoted by the financial press and by numerous investment guides that sold millions of copies. This exposure to the market in everyday life has been overlooked by other accounts preoccupied with intellectuals and economists, Westminster politics, and the engine rooms of high finance. Contextualizing specific financial practices of retail investors offers a better understanding of how the stock market captured the public imagination. In doing so, Playing the Market takes issue with the way the investing public has been conceptualized in the existing literature: all too often the actual investors are either absent from the narrative or are implied to be a homogenous group of rational actors who consciously adjust to changing economic parameters. However, if we listen to their voices and stories, the diversity of attitudes towards investment and speculation comes to the fore as well as the inherent difficulty of distinguishing between the two categories. What some investors considered a perfectly legitimate way of making money, others may have viewed as immoral profiteering. The ensuing moral debates over the social value of buying and selling financial securities mattered profoundly for the legitimacy and popularity of capitalism.
