I argue that overt movement cannot always be triggered by a need to create a specifier for the head bearing the Probe, as commonly assumed. In Tagalog, I claim, the best description of the behavior of wh-phrases is that they must become linearly adjacent to C; I show that Tagalog wh-phrases in fact occupy several different structural positions which are consistent with this linear requirement.

In this paper we explore some pre-conscious aesthetic and sensorial aspects of affect in fear of crime. Drawing on data from focus groups undertaken in inner Sydney, Australia, we link the sensory and aesthetic preconditions of fear of crime to its affective, behavioural and cognitive elements. We argue that fear is grounded in the structural, personal and inter-subjective components of individual’s lives and their interaction with physical and social environments, which then influence how individuals cognitively understand their own risks and react behaviourally to these emotional responses. By bringing alive the importance of environmental cues and the cultural and structural positions of those who are likely to frequently worry about victimisation, we hope to provoke a minor reassessment of, and encourage more focus on, fear’s sensory and aesthetic origins.

The purpose of this study was to determine the system for placing employees in structural positions as well as the determinants of the placement of employees in structural positions in the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency of Southeast Minahasa Regency. Data collection techniques were collected through 1) Observation, 2) Interviews, 3) Documentation. The research results are the Employee Placement System in Structural Positions through a standard mechanism, namely using Government Regulation Number 11 of 2017 concerning the Management of the State Civil Apparatus. Placement of employees in structural positions is carried out based on the principle of professionalism by the competence, work performance, ranks assigned to the position as well as other objective requirements regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, race, or class as well as the Determinant Factors on Employee Placement, namely: 1) Academic Achievement, 2) Experience, 3) Physical and Mental Health, 4) Marital Status, 5) Age.

The article is devoted to the prospects of new identifi ed ore occurrences in the Azerbaijanian part of the Greater Caucasus. It is established that both pyrrhic-polymetallic and copper-pyrrhotite and sulfur-pyrrhotite ores of various deposits and ore occurrences occupy very different stratigraphic levels of the section, starting from the Toar to the upper Aalen inclusive – and it is important to note that this entire age range essentially consists of alternating layers of clay shales, mudstones, sandstones, and siltstones. The geological and structural positions and the results of testing allow us to classify these areas as promising and consider them objects of further study by a complex of geological, geochemical and geophysical studies and drilling operations. A brief description of the most interesting and more thoroughly studied manifestations of ore deposits and manifestations is given.

This article looks at an epic song performed by Hmong in Laos from a perspective of oral composition by analyzing a wedding song Leuangtengdong. Through detailed musical and textual transcription, several compositional devices are identified and discussed. My study explores oral composition of the song focusing on its material and structure. I argue that music plays an important role in its oral composition: material-wise, music functions both as formulaic music-text association/unity and by careful music-text interactions; structure-wise, the song is organized in a multi-layered framework realized by the hierarchical music-text formulas, with music-text ‘theme’ in critical structural positions.

The study of musical signification constitutes an important key for the comprehension of Shostakovich’s music. This becomes particularly evident when one observes that social and political background plays an important role in his compositional process through the configuration of specific musical topics on structural positions of his music. These specific topics have arisen after cultural and social events during the establishment of the Soviet Union and became typical elements of the Soviet Music. This paper aims to show the function of these elements as compositional roots in the creative concept of Shostakovich’s music. The rising of the concept of musical topic after Leonard Ratner (1980) has opened new paths for a consistent comprehension of the musical discourse, identifying social and cultural signs that may articulate ideas which go beyond the music itself: ideology, criticism and politics became elements of musical expression, composing a new soundscape of music in Revolutionary Russia.

The issue of gender injustice is a form of social injustice in Indonesia which has always been an interesting theme and will remain an important theme in every thought and conception of society in the future. This study aims to describe the recruitment process for ASNs in structural positions in the Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara and also the factors that influence the lack of female ASN occupying structural positions. The research method used is qualitative by collecting primary data through in-depth interviews and observation techniques, while secondary data is collected through archives and documentation. The results showed that the recruitment process for State Civil Servants to occupy structural positions was in accordance with the rules in the State Civil Apparatus Law No. 5 of 2014, although not fully implemented as a whole. Apart from the fact that regulations that have not been fully implemented have been identified as well as other factors that influence as well as a lack of interest or willingness from women themselves, space and opportunities are provided but awareness of women to take part is still very minimal.

The paper develops an idea of globalising and localising strategies of media text translation in the framework of the rhetorical canons of invention, concerning selection of arguments; disposition, dealing with their arrangement; elocution, aimed at the choice of linguistic units; performance, underlying the formation of different kinds of discourse. The globalising strategy of translation renders the international content into the target language with minor changes in disposition or elocution while the localising strategy adjusts the global content to the worldview of the local readership changing text organisation at particular rhetorical levels. The article discusses the application of the globalising and localising strategies to the translation of the BBC’s English online headlines into Ukrainian with respect to their three structural positions: attracting attention by foregrounded units, keeping it by predicative groups, nudging the reader towards the text body in the final position. It is found that Ukrainian translations of English headlines intensify the globalising strategy extending the nudging utterances which compel the reader to turn to the text while the localising strategy is implemented by the techniques of specification or perspectivation altering the disposition of the original headline by foregrounding references to the entities important for the local audience.
