Abstract Backgroud: The elimination of malaria requires high-quality surveillance data in order to detect and respond quickly to individual cases. In the 1960s and 1970s, Handan city in North China experienced widespread malaria outbreaks, which was in line with the provincial and national epidemic patterns. Methods: Case-level data for the period 2011-2018 were extracted from China's National Infectious Diseases Information system and the rest cases were recorded municipal surveillance system from 1956-2010.Results: The incidence, accuracy and timeliness of case diagnosis, reporting and investigation in malaria were evaluated at elimination stage (2011-2018) in Handan city, China. From 2011 to 2018, 81 malaria cases were reported in Handan city, all of which were imported from abroad. The annual average incidence decreased to 0.11/100 000 in the elimination stage, while all malaria cases were male. Since the initiation of the National Malaria Elimination Programme in 2010, malaria cases were consistent with the increase in overseas export channels and personnel of labor services. Conclusions: The case-based malaria surveillance system in North China worked well at the malaria elimination stage. This ensured that malaria cases could be diagnosed, reported and timely investigated at local level.

Motivation: Seeing Upper Austrian B2B companies struggle in keeping up their export business intensity and simultaneously accelerating the usage of digital communication and export channels, creates the starting point for an Export Resilience study in Upper Austria, an export-oriented region. The main motivation for implementing a study in this particular field was the creation of a pool of current key findings, ring-fenced by clear managerial implications and recommendations, which respond to future export trends emerging out of the study. Findings: An online questionnaire was sent out to exporting B2B companies which was completed by 173 respondents. The data provides insights in triggers of export resilience, insight in future export channels and differences in the export strategy of Upper Austrian B2B companies. For example, the survey has shown that 52% of the participating businesses can be classified as being „immune” to external influences. Further insights are given according to the change of digital export tools, the form of meetings and AI based export tools. Conclusion: Consequently, the extent to which the implementation of the export resilience study stimulated the dialogue between the academic and business community led to managerial recommendations for Austrian B2B export companies.

The objective of the research was to analyse the main components of internal logistics costs that are shown in the process of Peruvian coffee exports in the period 2015-2019. This study used various government sources, document review, and extraction of information systems. To do this we take into account 6 departments with greater coffee production, connected with three logistics corridors that have as a starting point the production areas and reach the export channels of Callao and Paita. Also, using the information gathered from the logistics performance index, a brief internal transport comparison was made between Peru and Colombia. As a result, the logistic cost of both countries is higher than 14.1% (Latin American average), taking into account that in both countries the only internal logistic component in which they coincide is transportation. It is concluded that national transportation hurts impact on logistics costs, since these are affected in the final price of coffee and the profitability of the Peruvian farmer.

Baobab products provide cash income and supplement diets for local communities living in marginalised, arid and semi-arid regions. However, these products are neglected by research, selectively traded and considered underutilised. This study endeavours to narrow this information gap by analysing the determinants of baobab collectors’ choice of marketing channels in Kenya. A multinomial logit was employed, using a dataset of 268 baobab collectors from three counties. The results show that the majority of baobab collectors sell their baobab pulp through rural markets (assemblers and rural wholesalers), as opposed to urban buyers (urban wholesalers, retailers and processors). Export channels are conspicuously missing from the chain. Human capital and transactional and institutional factors significantly influence the collectors’ choice of marketing channels. The results reveal that building capacity around market development, research and education, road networks and institutional services is essential to create more profitable channels for generating income, enhancing food security and reducing malnutrition.

Bacteria offer resistance to a broad range of antibiotics by activating their export channels of ATP-binding cassette transporters. These transporters perform a central role in vital processes of self-immunity, antibiotic transport and resistance. The majority of ATP-binding cassette transporters are capable of detecting the presence of antibiotics in an external vicinity and are tightly regulated by two-component systems. The presence of an extracellular loop and an adjacent location of both the transporter and two-component system offers serious assistance to induce a quick and specific response against antibiotics. Both systems have demonstrated their ability of sensing such agents, however, the exact mechanism is not yet fully established. This review highlighted the three key functions of antibiotic resistance, transport and self-immunity of ATP-binding cassette transporters and an adjacent two-component regulatory system.

As the resource-based view suggests, firms choose their export channel on the basis of their internal pool of resources. Following this approach, we firstly hypothesize that firms with intangible resources will establish direct export channels to better exploit, protect and develop their firm-specific resources. Secondly, we propose that firms that establish their export channel on the basis of their internal resources outperform those firms that do not. To obtain empirical evidence we used a Heckman two-step model for the DOC Rioja wine industry. The results confirm that firms improve their export performance when jointly considering internal resources and the export channel. Also, human resources are the most relevant intangible resources in our model. This paper contributes by offering empirical evidence on the exporting channel strategies chosen by Spanish wineries. This paper makes a theoretical contribution by examining the performance consequences of following the RBV approach. Likewise, it has important practical implications for managers, who can improve their firm's export performance by assessing their internal resources before considering which export channel to choose.
