Perceptions of Search Consultants of Qualities School Boards Seek in Superintendents

This study sought to determine those qualities that school boards seek when they employ superintendents as perceived by superintendent search consultants. The author found the following qualities to be extremely important when school boards are seeking superintendents: performance in previous positions, performance during the interview, evidence of leadership and managerial skills, communication skills, and experience and success with school constituent groups.
