Playing chess against the military

My contribution engages in close-reading analysis of the award-winning picture book The Composition, written by Chilean author Antonio Skármeta and illustrated by Alfonso Ruano. It explores the political potential of fiction to recast children as creative subjects with political awareness and instruments to resist oppressive discourses and practices in the context of military dictatorships.

O diálogo como fio condutor das relações entre o carteiro e o poeta no romance de Antonio Skármeta

O diálogo é a ideia de uma troca construtiva conduzindo a um objetivo e as palavras são o alicerce da condução destas ideias, além, é claro, do filosófico imbuido dentro desta dialogicidade, que, por mais que pensemos em um simples dialogar, uma verdade sempre é descoberta, visto que tecemos nossas vidas através de diálogos, retóricas, discursos, dialéticas. Através de conceitos de Bakthin sobre diálogo socrático apresentamos o diálogo como fio condutor da relação do carteiro Mário Jimenez e do poeta Pablo Neruda em trecho do romance O carteiro e o poeta de Antônio Skármeta. Aplicando as teorias bakthinianas e também outras significações filosóficas a respeito de diálogo, demonstramos a importância da sincrese e anácrise para a descoberta de verdades.

Figura del otro en la novela "El cartero de Neruda"de Antonio Skármeta. Un estudio analístico

The aim of this study is to research in figure of the “other” and his relationship to the “ego” and sometimes the “other” with “we” for the purpose of continuing living in life in the novel “The Postman of Neruda” the novel presents a lot of topics like friendship and the struggle of the people of Chile but the topic of love is the main one, all these are presented by the author through the events and dialogues which were simple in language and display in the work. In addition to that there are a lot of elements that moved the events in the work, although the characters were few but they have got a huge effect in their structure, with that we can say that these elements: love, poetry, women, struggle, nature and real historical events. “The Postman of Neruda” it is a research on sensations and human feelings through his relation with all these elements.

Educación literaria, pensamiento crítico y conciencia ética: La composición, de Antonio Skármeta

El presente estudio aborda las contribuciones al canon literario escolar del álbum ilustrado La composición de Antonio Skármeta, con ilustraciones de Alfonso Ruano, una de las obras fundamentales de la literatura infantil y juvenil chilena que trata el tema de la dictadura y la represión. La obra, de marcado carácter histórico, favorece la reflexión del lector por la realidad que refleja y por el simbolismo de los elementos que la conforman. Tanto el relato como las ilustraciones conducen al lector a implicarse en la obra, sintiendo como propios el miedo, la tristeza y el cariño de sus personajes.
