The aim of this systematic review was to compile the evidence for early vocational rehabilitation interventions for people with major injury or illness. Embase, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Medline, CINAHL, and Psycinfo databases were searched. Five hundred abstracts were reviewed for eligibility. Full-text review of 125 studies revealed a total of 25 published studies that met the eligibility criteria to be included in this review evaluating early approaches to vocational rehabilitation and return to work. Findings suggest that intervening early with respect to an individual’s vocational goals is imperative, although the definition of “early” varies. Programs achieve better vocational outcomes when specifically employing comprehensive vocational interventions, including vocational assessment, individualized planning, and follow-up support, to ensure a person’s return to employment is timely and sustained. Integration of vocational rehabilitation professionals within a multidisciplinary team and access to advocacy services were shown to be effective inclusions in early vocational rehabilitation programs for people with a serious injury or illness.

Social distancing policy is applied during the Covid-19 virus pandemic including in Batik Professional Certification Institution in Indonesia. The management should provide services for the participants without meeting them directly. This study aims to reveal the management of Batik competence tests during the Covid-19 virus pandemic. The observation focused on the performance of the administrative staff, assessors, and management staff of the Batik Professional Certification Institutions (PCI). This is a qualitative study. The data were collected through questionnaires distributed to the participants, assessors, and administrators. The research concerns on the role and impact of the use of information system management in the interaction between prospective assessment, participants, assessors, and management of PCI in the professional certification competency test (PCCT). The findings showed that the use of information systems to manage vocational assessment has been effective to inform the assessment schedule to the assessor and participant, bridging the assessment reports, and reminding license expiration to management, so the management has an efficient way to manage the information with this system automation.

Work is a fundamental human right and a key element in quality of life, yet only a minority of people with a neurological condition return to, remain in, or attain work. A range of factors are associated with work for people with specific neurological conditions. Vocational rehabilitation (VR) to address key vocational needs are outlined (i.e. vocational assessment, return to work, preparation for alternative work, transition from education to employment, and long-term job retention), illustrated by examples. Specialist VR programmes typically report positive outcomes. However, there is a need for more controlled studies to evaluate the effectiveness of VR in addition to core neurorehabilitation and the added value of specialist as opposed to generic VR provision. There is also a pressing need for neurorehabilitation and VR services to prioritize unmet vocational needs, generate practice-based evidence, and provide evidence of cost-effectiveness.

AbstractVocational assessment is the foundation of future vocational choices available to a person with a disability. In a compensable environment with potential for litigation, the assessment process becomes more complex and challenging for claimant, practitioner, and other stakeholders. The purpose of forensic (medicolegal) vocational assessment in Australia is reviewed. Comparison of ethics, qualifications, and experience of Australian forensic assessors (practitioners) and their North American counterparts points to an urgent need for an accreditation framework. This paper discusses microaccreditation as an independent model of training and credentialing of Australian forensic vocational practitioners. Credentialing the forensic vocational practitioner serves to underpin the quality and rigor of vocational assessments undertaken in a highly scrutinized legal market.
