The doctrine of prevenient grace in the Wesleyan tradition has always played an important role in shaping the way we understand and participate in the mission of God (Missio Dei) and the role of the church in it. The doctrine of prevenient grace, in the Wesleyan-Arminian tradition, continues to shape the understanding of holiness as God’s activity to restore broken relationships. Holiness, as it is often misunderstood, is not a physical separation between what we consider holy and unholy, churchy and worldly, pure and impure, but the redemption of broken relationships (God and humans, humans with each other, humans and creation and human with the self). The goal of this paper is to further explore the theological and missiological bases of the doctrine of prevenient grace, as understood by Wesley, and the practical implication that this doctrine has in shaping the way the church fulfills its missiological call in the world. This paper is divided into three main sections: the first part of the paper will focus on defining prevenient grace and its relationship to the mission of God (Missio Dei); the second part will explore the missiological and theological implications of the doctrine of prevenient grace, and the last part will illustrate practically the theological and missiological motivation of the work of the Church of the Nazarene with refugees in Zagreb, Croatia.

Exponential development of globalization and the growth of technology of communication have transformed values, views and cultures of human civilization nowadays. These are the symptoms of world web wide era; where the local issues can be global discussion in minutes. In one hand, the Church of God should be sensitive to the age changes, does some adaptations and changes to be relevant. In the other hand, the Church of God should not be conformed to this world. Church of the Nazarene as one of the Christian Church denominations in the world is demanded to take the stance to deal with the changes that are happened today especially in LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) issue.

Background The Healthy Indiana Plan serves as an insurance program, expansion of Medicaid, and unique initiative of Indiana, serving citizens near the poverty line. Elements of the program like the distinction between HIP Plus and HIP Basic, as well as the Gateway to Work program and their effects on the community have yet to be fully understood in their impact on healthcare decision making, stimulating personal responsibility, and ER utilization rates. Churches and faithbased organizations have consistently provided model forms of health support supplementation for reaching community, especially as demonstrated in the work of First Baptist Church North Indianapolis and Shepherd Community Church of the Nazarene. Project Methods 18 previously conducted and transcribed interviews with community leaders and community members were deductively analyzed with qualitative assessments, specifically descriptive content analysis and later framework analysis. Key themes and a framework were developed to understand and clarify responses and to produce direct recommendations. Results Participants in HIP Plus enjoy their insurance and experience minimal difficulty in receiving prescriptions and tests. However, remaining on HIP Plus is difficult for many participants, with the fallback of HIP Basic requiring copays that many are unable or unwilling to pay in light of greater financial priorities. Important factors arose, including: threshold knowledge to gain and maintain access, community necessitated assistance (advisory and financial), easy loss of HIP Plus status, gateway to work’s incompatibility with seasonal/temporal work, and no central administrative hub to check HIP status. Successful participants are adamant about their insurance, using phone calls, office visits, or consistent communication with navigators to ensure HIP Plus status. Conclusion & Future Directions This study, as well as Worlds Apart: Gaps in Life Expectancy in the Indianapolis Metro Area, have contributed to a continuing study on health inequity, community perspective, and organizational activities in Indianapolis communities.

The conclusion summarizes the argument and highlights the potential contributions of the book. Old or New School Methodism? has implications for understanding the beginning of the Church of the Nazarene. This study also has implications for Methodist theological education and diverging understandings of the purpose of theological education. The chapter points to Borden Parker Bowne and Henry Clay Morrison as illustrative of this tension. The conclusion also argues that this study offers a challenge to contemporary big-tent visions for American Methodism, noting that this vision came out of a moment of transition that was seen by Methodists like B.T. Roberts as a betrayal of Methodism’s theological heritage. Finally, it is argued that this study contributes to contemporary Wesleyan/Methodist communities wrestling with their own theological heritage by pointing to the importance of entire sanctification for this tradition and the value of Christian ecumenical engagement outside of Methodism.
