The fractal geometry, anisotropy, discontinuity, and non-Darcy flow of tight reservoirs exert a significant effect on well production performance. In this study, the reservoir fractal geometry is represented by exponential functions on the basis of microseismic data, while the discontinuity of the fractures is presented as a nonequilibrium effect. The impact of the nonequilibrium effect and the low velocity non-Darcy flow on the temporal scale of the wellbore pressure is predicted herein. Results showed that the time scale analysis accurately simulates gas flow in a tight reservoir. The wellbore pressure gradually increases, whereas the pressure in the matrix lags when the nonequilibrium effect is considered. The wellbore pressure is affected in the early period by the nonequilibrium effect. However, at the later stage, the pressure in the matrix is mainly affected by the non-Darcy flow. When the non-Darcy flow is dominant, the pores without gas flowing through are better presented.

In this research, we found that the local opening of base pairs induces the formation of kinks which facilitates the bending of double helix. The conformational properties of DNA can be mapped onto the Heisenberg spin system and denaturation occurs through quantum phase transition (QPT) induced by a quench when the temperature effect is incorporated through the quench time. The nonequilibrium effect in QPT introduced through the quench generate defects like kinks end antikinks, the density of which depends on the quench time and hence on temperature. It is here argued that when we transcribe this result in the rod –like-chain (RLC) model of DNA, these defects correspond to bends. The dynamical formation of these bends during local denaturation associated with transcription hinders free rotation of the transcribed DNA and helps the torsional stress to propagate down the DNA. This explains the observed large torsional stress near the point of transcription. We have estimated the bend length which is found to be in good agreement with experiments.

In this paper, a computational fluid dynamics model of flashing flow, which considers the thermal nonequilibrium effect, has been proposed. In the proposed model, based on the two-phase mixture approach, the phase-change process depends on the difference between the vaporization pressure and the vapor partial pressure. The thermal nonequilibrium effect has been included by using ad hoc modeling of the boiling delay. The proposed model has been applied to the case of two-dimensional axisymmetric convergent-divergent nozzle, which is representative of well-known applications in nuclear and energy engineering applications (e.g., the primary flow in the motive nozzle of ejectors). The numerical results have been validated based on a benchmark case from the literature and have been compared with the numerical results previously obtained by different research groups. The proposed approach has shown a good level of agreement as regards the global and the local experimental fluid dynamic quantities. In addition, sensitivity analyses have been carried out concerning (a) grid independency, (b) turbulence modeling approaches, (c) near-wall treatment approaches, (d) turbulence inlet parameters, and (e) semi-empirical coefficients. In conclusion, the present paper aims to provide guidelines for the simulation of flash boiling flow in industrial applications.
