Introduction

The Introduction identifies what is required for a detailed theoretical framework for analyzing the language and ethics of untruthfulness in situated text. First, the scope of untruthfulness needs to be broad enough to cover perceived actual cases of discursive untruthfulness in the current social and political world without being so broad that it ceases to have analytical purpose. Second, a means of judging the ethical value of the act of untruthfulness and the speaker’s degree of culpability is needed. Finally, one needs to be able to judge acts of untruthfulness in the full complexity of their situated context. Untruthfulness necessarily involves complex relations between word, mind, and world that are not easily accessible to the analytical observer and that necessitate an interdisciplinary approach. The chapter concludes by setting out the central theoretical propositions of the TRUST framework that derive from these needs and that are explored in subsequent chapters.

Digital labour: an empty signifier?

Since the early 2000s, the expression ‘digital labour’ has identified an influential theoretical proposition in the Marxist critique of the political economy of digital media, which sees the leisure-driven, unpaid activities of social media users as unremunerated forms of work contributing to Internet companies’ profits. Over the years, however, this expression has evolved into an umbrella term, used to describe a variety of practices and instances concerning the broader relationship between labour and digital technology – including paid work – often with little or no relation to the original theory. Reflecting on this evolution, this article argues that ‘digital labour’ has become a kind of empty signifier, unable to serve a clearly distinguishable critical or analytical purpose. Focusing on the emergence of platform labour, it shows how ‘digital’ and ‘labour’ have come to be largely inseparable dimensions and discusses the related implications.

Motley Society, Plurinationalism, and the Integral State

This article examines Bolivian vice president Álvaro García Linera’s use of concepts originating in the work of Antonio Gramsci and Bolivian sociologist René Zavaleta Mercado. Zavaleta’s concept of sociedad abigarrada (usually translated as ‘motley society’) has a history of misappropriation in which García Linera participates by articulating it with the related concept of the estado aparente to claim that the merely ‘apparent’ state which does not effectively represent the heterogeneous social reality of a country like Bolivia is abolished with the official establishment of the Plurinational State in 2009. This ideologeme of the Plurinational State as one that faithfully represents Bolivia’s abigarramiento is equated with the Gramscian stato integrale, which in Gramsci refers to the state proper plus civil society where these are thoroughly integrated to function as an organic whole (the modern capitalist nation-state). Beyond merely misusing the borrowed terms of this discursive operation, García Linera gives a prescriptive value to concepts developed for an analytical purpose to validate the existing regime.

The shelf life study of 0.1 M Sodium hydroxide volumetric solution at different condition for analytical purpose in Laboratory

The Expiry date of 0.1 M Sodium hydroxide volumetric solution is determined for analytical purpose in Laboratory and the Strength of Volumetric solutions determined by titration against potassium hydrogen Phthalate (KHP). The volumetric solution prepared in distilled water observed that no chemically significant degradation for at least 30 days when stored separately in Normal and dark condition over a period of 30 days . The % RSD of Molarity at Normal condition observed from 0.0993 to 0.0994 % and at Dark condition from 0.0994 to 0.2988 %. The Significant degradation observed when solution stored separately in oven at 35 oC temperature and strength of volumetric solution deviate from 18 th Day . The Great Poet of Nepal

This paper reviews two books of biography- one Narendra Raj Prasai’s The Great Poet of Nepal (2017)", a biography translated from Devkota Ko Jiwanshaili (2009), and translated by Anukritika and another Chandra Bahadur Shrestha’s My Reminiscence Of the Great Poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota published published from Royal Nepal Academy in 1981. I have reviewed both books of biography comparatively with reference to Devkota’s character in general and specifically his contribution to Nepal’s history and literature. For analytical purpose secondary resources were consulted. Qualitative analysis was the basic method applied. Analysis discovered the true greatness of the Great poet in knowledge, behavior, intelligence, struggle, and many other aspects of his life.
