The aim of this paper and research was to analyse the efficiency of the compiler-generated code for the graphics library and to present results obtained by optimization for the MIPS (Million Instructions Per Second) architecture. Libpng is the official Portable Network Graphics reference library for use in applications that read, create, and manipulate PNG (Portable Network Graphics) raster image files. Given the data structure in the PNG files, as well as the capabilities of the MIPS instruction set, it was expected that significant improvements could be made. Graphic library libpng is optimized by using MIPS instruction set extension and tested on MIPS Malta 74K platform. Test results show, that by using MIPS optimization test, execution times are substantially improved. Our libpng optimization have achieved performance increase of 10 %–78 % depending on optimized routine.

With the diversification of terminal equipment and operating systems, higher requirements are placed on the rendering performance of maps. The traditional map rendering engine relies on the corresponding operating system graphics library, and there are problems such as the inability to cross the operating system, low rendering performance, and inconsistent rendering style. With the development of hardware, graphics processing unit (GPU) appears in various platforms. How to use GPU hardware to improve map rendering performance has become a critical challenge. In order to address the above problems, this study proposes a cross-platform and high-performance map rendering (Graphics Library engine, GL engine), which uses mask drawing technology and texture dictionary text rendering technology. It can be used on different hardware platforms and different operating systems based on the OpenGL graphics library. The high-performance map rendering engine maintains a consistent map rendering style on different platforms. The results of the benchmark experiments show that the performance of GL engine is 1.75 times and 1.54 times better than the general map rendering engine in the iOS system and in the Android system, respectively, and the rendering performance for vector tiles is 11.89 times and 9.52 times better than rendering in the Mapbox in the iOS system and in the Android system, respectively.

In order to satisfy the personalized design of modern electronic products for LCD system, the transplantation technology is applied in this paper, which is based on STM32 MCU and the application of emWin graphics library. According to the function of the superiority of STM32 MCU and emWin graphics library, the hardware is designed, and the transplantation of emWin graphic library is finished on STM32 platform for the LCD display system. The LCD display system that has good practical effect is verified through practical experiment, of which results show that the LCD display system is steady, reliable, and friendly to the users.

<div class=""abs_img""><img src=""[disp_template_path]/JRM/abst-image/00260004/11.jpg"" width=""300"" />Virtual reality simulator</span></div> A virtual reality (VR) simulator is developed to aid in advancing teleoperated construction machines for disaster response work. VR simulators, which can measure arbitrary data, allow the operator to reproduce desired situations repeatedly, and change the machine and environmental configurations more easily than is possible in real environments, can create teleoperation technologies and quantitatively evaluate them, and can improve operational skills in complex disaster response works. As basic components of a VR simulator, a VR environment, operation-input, and videooutput components are developed. The VR environment is built using a basic graphics library and dynamics engine for simplification. The operation-input component consists of control levers for a demolition machine that has a grapple and environmental cameras with yaw, pitch, and zoom functions. The videooutput component consists of a two-dimensional monitor that can display an in-vehicle camera view, multiple environmental camera views, and the machine status. Experiments conducted show that operators can adequately transport debris in the VR environment while watching views on the monitor from the in-vehicle and environmental cameras. The experiments also reveal the characteristics that reduce the machine’s time efficiency. </span>
