Abstract The overall findings of this research point to a mix of positive and negative human rights impacts of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and on the visitor economy of the host city. On a positive note, affirmative action included persons with disabilities and from underprivileged communities in the workforce. New sports and leisure centres were built. Freedom of expression and association was reinforced by protesters demonstrating and using the platform of the event to raise issues. Several initiatives by the Organizing Committee, government, companies, and associations constituted positive mechanisms for leverage of the human rights to education and to participate in the cultural life of the community, albeit with limited long-term impacts. These wider economic and social successes associated with the hosting of the Games can positively contribute to the quality and inclusivity of the visitor economy. redevelopment, the Games' land use displaced thousands of people, violating the right to housing and several other human rights through abusive practices used by the government in the eviction process. Under the pretext of creating safe spaces for visitors and safeguarding their image of the city, the government's violence towards poor and black communities was aggravated, with the militarisation of the city impacting on the right to life, protection, education, and justice. Attempting to mask the city's socio-economic problems and undesirable aspects for sponsors and visitors, freedom of expression was undermined as protesters were targeted by the police and street vendors were driven out of public spaces.

Background: Chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy is a significant disability after the treatment of large number of cancers and they have an impact on quality of life. The aim of the present endeavour was to study the cisplatin-paclitaxel induced peripheral neuropathy in patients with lung or ovarian cancerMethods: The study was carried out in the Department of Oncology, Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai, after obtaining clearance from Institutional ethical committee, Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. Thirty newly diagnosed patients suffering from Lung or ovarian cancer attending Oncology department were selected. After satisfying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Patient received injection cisplatin 60 mg/m2 and injection paclitaxel 175 mg/m2. Nerve conduction study was done to assess the peripheral neuropathy. It was done before starting the chemotherapy. Patients with grade 0 neuropathy were included for the study. Nerve conduction study was repeated after each cycle. The time taken to develop peripheral neuropathy was assessed using Cancer Institute - Common Toxicity Criteria version 3.0. The data were analyzed with SPSS statistical software package (Version 16.0 SPSS Inc., Chicago, USA ).Results: There is a statistically significant reduction in sensory nerve (sural) amplitude (SNAP) and latency (p <0.05) indicating significant axonal damage. The time taken to develop peripheral neuropathy was 3 cycles with grade 3/4.Conclusions: In this present study, the neurotoxicity induced by cisplatin-paclitaxel in patients with lung or ovarian carcinoma was observed, so that early intervention can prevent the permanent neurotoxicity.

This paper sought to examine the stakeholder network governance structures of two international and two domestic multisports events focusing on (a) exploring the structural connectedness of these networks and (b) illuminating powerful stakeholders vis-à-vis centrality and the ability to control the network’s flow. An exploratory, comparative case study design was built by means of 58 interviews and 550 archival materials. Findings highlight international sports events are sparsely connected networks with power concentrated in the organizing committee, government, and venue stakeholders, who broker coordination with other stakeholders. In contrast, domestic sport event organizing committees appear more decentralized as coordinating actors: Sport organizations, sponsors, and community-based stakeholders emerged as highly connected, powerful stakeholders. Domestic event governance decentralization highlights a potential imbalance in stakeholder interests through network flow control by multiple actors, while the governments’ centrality in international events demonstrates not only mode-dependent salience but also visibility/reputational risks and jurisdictional responsibilities-based salience.
