Measuring complex for determining the characteristics of high-voltage silicon carbide Schottky diodes in impulse modes

This paper describes a developed automated research measuring complex that allows one to determine the parameters of currents, voltages and power of silicon carbide Schottky diodes when applied reverse voltage impulses with amplitudes from 400 to 1000 V. The research measuring complex was tested on DDSH411A91 («GRUPPA KREMNY EL») and C3D1P7060Q (Cree/Wolfspeed) silicon carbide Schottky diodes and allows to determine their maximum values of the rate of rise of reverse voltage dV/dt (877 V/ns and 683 V/ns). Also, the maximum values of the current rise rate dI/dt were determined for DDSH411A91 (3.24 A/ns) and C3D1P7060Q (3.72 A/ns) diodes. For the first time it was established that, when a reverse voltage impulse with an amplitude of 1000 V is applied, the maximum values of instantaneous fullpower reach 1419 VA for the DDSH411A91 diode and 1638 VA for the C3D1P7060Q diode.

"Architectures for solitude", which are those that are small in size and were first used by a single resident to later be inhabited by a very small number of people as a place of spiritual retreat or for liturgical rites, deals with analysing the circumstances and causes of the great increase in the number of isolated chapels that have been projected and built in the first two decades of the 20th century around the world, and particularly in Europe and Latin America. The study of such a notorious proliferation focuses, by way of example and symptom, on a reduced repertoire of works designed by Chilean architects. Methodologically speaking, although the progress presented only contains some indications of the procedures used, the study will be carried out by reviewing the pages and cover pages dedicated to them by architecture publications, printed or digital, resorting to the discursive strategies of architectural types and semantics analysis, comparison and statistical calculation, the communicative potential of the photographic image, and the expressive capacity of the word. From the theses raised, it is proposed that the term “chapel” be redefined to re-signify it; of the cases presented, that the heterogeneous formal repertoire of contemporaneity starts from the vernacular to venture into experimentation devoid of prejudice. Ultimately, the data allow us to deduce that the current rise of hermitic architectures is related to the circumstances of hegemonic urban societies, as well as to predict that the process will be accelerated by upcoming pandemics.

Modeling of different tower grounding systems using hybrid continuous circuit-trapezoidal integration method

In order to protect the transmission lines against lightning strikes, it is important to investigate the tower grounding system. In this paper, a recent method called hybrid continuous circuit-trapezoidal integration method is used to calculate the impulse impedance of the grounding system. Moreover, conventional structures of the grounding systems have been simulated and the results show that, with the same wire length, the square with additional wire system has the least impulse impedance as compared to counterpoise, square and crow?s foot. Moreover, the effects of soil resistivity and lightning current rise-time on the impulse impedance of these grounding systems are investigated. It is concluded that the design of the grounding system depends on the geographic location of the site in terms of soil resistivity and isotropic characteristics of the area in terms of lightning current rise-time.

Civic advocacy for public service media? The case of Switzerland and its current rise in media policy activism

Civic advocacy for public service media (PSM) is rather rare. Switzerland, however, where civic associations play a vital role in politics and the economy, and where media policy activism is currently on the rise, offers ideal conditions for such advocacy. Combining document analysis and expert interviews with leading activists, this article investigates the aims, strategies and networks of seven associations dedicated to media policy activism. It also examines the connection between No Billag, a 2018 national referendum on abolishing the public broadcasting license fee, and the formation of new associations. Findings show that these associations are gatherings of media professionals and that PSM is not their main concern.
