The optical properties of ZrSiS arise from intense excitonic activity, with different character and spatial extension depending on the polarization of the incident light. The system also exhibits plasmonic activity, while the plasmons are unstable and decay into electron–hole pairs.

Abstract This article discusses depth in an opposite direction to its objectivity. It is not a matter of discussing it as a familiar coordinate of space or as a parameter referring to spatial extension. In this article, depth is unfolded on a subjective level: as a dimension lived by the body. Based on the phenomenology of the French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty (1908–1961) and on his analysis of the pictorial planes of Paul Cézanne (1938–1906), some considerations are made about the existence of depth as a dimension that structures the body in the space. Subjective depth becomes a potentiality for the discipline of architecture by attributing plasticity to the BODY-SPACE relationship and by being responsible for corporeal engagement. Keywords: Depth; Phenomenology; Merleau-Ponty; Cézanne; BODY-SPACE relationship

Abstract. The structure of the historical center of the city of Diyarbakır is largely inherited from the Roman city of Amida, through numerous testimonies still present in certain urban elements, such as buildings or cadastral parcels. The detailed analysis of the orientation of these urban elements in the current urban plan of Diyarbakır can contribute in particular to a better understanding of the different eras of foundation of the city of Amida and their spatial extensions. This research proposes to compare two methods of extraction of orientations from urban elements of the city of Diyarbakır. First, historians carried out a manual survey of the orientations from an aerial photograph, which made it possible to bring out two frames corresponding to two eras of the founding of the Roman city of Amida. These orientations were then compared with those extracted automatically from the geographic databases of cadastral parcels and built-up urban elements captured at a large scale. If the results obtained with the two methods converge, they also show differences, both on the orientation values and on the spatial extension of the two frames observed. These differences may contradict the initial observations, but are also sources of new perspectives of research on the spatial extension of the different periods of foundation of the Roman city of Amida. Finally, the results of this research tend to show that the two approaches prove to be complementary in detecting ancient urban structures in a contemporary city plan.

Objective: To conduct mathematical expression of the law of internal fascicular groups of peripheral nerves in spatial extension, so as to reveal the universal law of fascicular groups during the process of spatial extension. Methods: The centroid of each fascicular group shown on each Micro-CT image of the peripheral nerves was extracted, and these centroids were connected to form the centroid space curve of each fascicular group respectively based on preliminary studies. Results: The mean value of relative offset of fascicular groups in space was 3.7 μm while its maximum was: when a distance of 5 μm was extended, the fascicular groups centroid would have an offset of 21.4 μm. The accuracy of fitting of the centroid spatial curve of the fascicular groups using the 4th-order Fourier model could be up to 98%. Each parameter in the model obeyed the t distribution with position/dimension parameters. The dimension of parameters in the 1st-order component was obviously greater than that of the components of the other orders, indicating that the probability density function of harmonic component parameter showed an obvious peak shape. Conclusions: The centroid space curve of the Fascicular groups could express the extension of fascicular groups in space truly and exactly. The extension process of fascicular groups in space could be expressed accurately by the 4th-order Fourier model. The reason for using the 4th-order model was that a better balance could be obtained in model complexity and accuracy of fitting.
