The method of discretization signals to minimize the fallibility of information recovery

The paper proposes a fundamentally new approach to the formulation of the problem of optimizing the discretization interval (frequency). The well-known traditional methods of restoring an analog signal from its discrete implementations consist of sequentially solving two problems: restoring the output signal from a discrete signal at the output of a digital block and restoring the input signal of an analog block from its output signal. However, this approach leads to methodical fallibility caused by interpolation when solving the first problem and by regularizing the equation when solving the second problem. The aim of the work is to develop a method for the signal discretization to minimize the fallibility of information recovery to determine the optimal discretization frequency.The proposed method for determining the optimal discretization rate makes it possible to exclude both components of the methodological fallibility in recovering information about the input signal. This was achieved due to the fact that to solve the reconstruction problem, instead of the known equation, a relation is used that connects the input signal of the analog block with the output discrete signal of the digital block.The proposed relation is devoid of instabilities inherent in the well-known equation. Therefore, when solving it, neither interpolation nor regularization is required, which means that there are no components of the methodological fallibility caused by the indicated operations. In addition, the proposed ratio provides a joint consideration of the properties of the interference in the output signal of the digital block and the frequency properties of the transforming operator, which allows minimizing the fallibility in restoring the input signal of the analog block and determining the optimal discretization frequency.A widespread contradiction in the field of signal information recovery from its discrete values has been investigated. A decrease in the discretization frequency below the optimal one leads to an increase in the approximation fallibility and the loss of some information about the input signal of the analog-to-digital signal processing device. At the same time, unjustified overestimation of the discretization rate, complicating the technical implementation of the device, is not useful, since not only does it not increase the information about the input signal, but, if necessary, its restoration leads to its decrease due to the increase in the effect of noise in the output signal on the recovery accuracy. input signal. The proposed method for signal discretization based on the minimum information recovery fallibility to determine the optimal discretization rate allows us to solve this contradiction.

The crisis, caused by COVID-19, created a lot of issues in this world. The phenomenon of “domestic abuse” escalated. The pandemic and the lockdowns, unfortunately, aided the “abusers”. The victims remained locked with their abusers and their “escape routes” and opportunities for help decreased. Methods. The aim of the present study is to examine the level of occurrence of violence among student-athletes, as well as their preparedness and competence to react. Results. From the obtained and presented data, it could be concluded that physical and sexual violence are not widespread among Bulgarian athletes. It is noteworthy that parents are more likely to physically abuse their children than the coaches are. Also, the relationship between the athletes themselves is not under the sign of violence – 82.7% (n = 115) say that they have never been a victim of physical violence by a teammate, and three of them say they have been a victim of sexual violence by a teammate. Conclusions. Given the growth in registered cases of violence, incl. the domestic violence, as well as globalization worldwide, it is necessary to implement a unified discrete signal that can be safely shown in the occurrence of violence. This signal is essential so that it can be used when needed from children to adults, from women and men. The promotion of the international signal for help is important in order to prevent and provide timely assistance to victims of violence. It is important for people to know about it, to use it when needed, but also to recognize it when someone uses it.

Influencing Reinforcement Learning through Natural Language Guidance

Interactive reinforcement learning (IRL) agents use human feedback or instruction to help them learn in complex environments. Often, this feedback comes in the form of a discrete signal that’s either positive or negative. While informative, this information can be difficult to generalize on its own. In this work, we explore how natural language advice can be used to provide a richer feedback signal to a reinforcement learning agent by extending policy shaping, a well-known IRL technique. Usually policy shaping employs a human feedback policy to help an agent to learn more about how to achieve its goal. In our case, we replace this human feedback policy with policy generated based on natural language advice. We aim to inspect if the generated natural language reasoning provides support to a deep RL agent to decide its actions successfully in any given environment. So, we design our model with three networks: first one is the experience driven, next is the advice generator and third one is the advice driven. While the experience driven RL agent chooses its actions being influenced by the environmental reward, the advice driven neural network with generated feedback by the advice generator for any new state selects its actions to assist the RL agent to better policy shaping.

The Problem of Transition from a Finite Discrete Signal to a Finite Continual Signal

С целью повышения точности определения искомой величины в теории косвенных измерений широкое применение нашла операция интерполяции – операция определения (вычисления) промежуточных значений исходной величины между заданными (известными) ее значениями. Арсенал численных методов, применяемых при интерполяции значений величин, полученных прямыми измерениями, достаточно широк – это линейная и квадратичная интерполяции, применение различных интерполяционных многочленов, а также сплайн-интерполяции. Однако выбор методов интерполяции в общей теории измерений проводится субъективно, без анализа характеристик исходного непрерывного сигнала, а также применения теоретических основ цифровой обработки сигналов. Целью работы является анализ проблемы достоверности перехода от финитного дискретного сигнала к финитному континуальному (аналоговому, непрерывному) сигналу в различных предметных областях, выявление основных факторов, которые необходимо учитывать при этом переходе. Проведенный системный анализ проблемы перехода от финитного дискретного сигнала к финитному континуальному сигналу показал, что переход от финитного дискретного сигнала к континуальному дискретному сигналу, без учета свойств исходного сигнала, приводит к субъективности оценки результатов интерполяции финитного дискретного сигнала, к ошибкам и некорректным выводам. Показано, что объективным и оптимальным методом интерполяции финитного дискретного сигнала при выполнении условий теоремы Котельникова является метод, основанный на применении дискретных преобразований Фурье.

Envelope of a Real Discrete Signal on a Finite Interval and Methods for Its Determination

Исследуются методы определения огибающих (мгновенных амплитуд) действительного сигнала как для непрерывного, так и дискретного случая. Рассматривается представление действительного непрерывного и дискретного сигнала во временной и частотной областях. Показано, что применение того или иного представления сигнала определяется областью приложения метода обработки сигнала. Дан анализ преимуществ и недостатков существующих методов определения огибающей (мгновенной амплитуды) действительного сигнала для непрерывного и дискретного случая. Обоснована эффективность выбора определения сопряженного сигнала методом преобразования Гильберта. Рассмотрен вопрос определения гильбертовой огибающей для действительных, дискретных, финитных сигналов методами дискретного преобразования Фурье и дискретно-временного преобразования Фурье. Выявлена главная причина больших относительных погрешностей при измерении гильбертовых огибающих методом дискретного преобразования Фурье. Разработан новый результативный и эффективный метод измерения огибающей действительного, дискретного, финитного сигнала, который на порядок уменьшает относительную погрешность ее измерения, на порядок сокращает вычислительные затраты и необходимую память для реализации метода. Полученные в работе теоретические результаты подтверждены результатами численного моделирования измерения огибающей действительного, дискретного, финитного сигнала существующим и предложенным методами.
