How Does Spacetime “Tell an Electron How to Move”?

Minkowski spacetime provides a background framework for the kinematics and dynamics of classical particles. How the framework implements the motion of matter is not specified within special relativity. In this paper we specify how Minkowski space can implement motion in such a way that ’quantum’ propagation occurs on appropriate scales. This is done by starting in a discrete space and explicitly taking a continuum limit. The argument is direct and illuminates the special tension between ’rest’ and ’uniform motion’ found in Minkowski space, showing how the formal analytic continuations involved in Minkowski space and quantum propagation arise from the same source.

Diffusion gravity and its consequences

Diffusion quantum mechanics (DQM), proposed recently (Zakir, 2020-21), describes a conservative diffusion of classical particles in a fluctuating classical scalar field and, in a homogeneous field, derives the formalism of quantum mechanics. In an inhomogeneous scalar field, DQM reproduces gravitation, and in the present paper, the following theory of diffusion gravity and its various consequences are considered. In DQM a part of the energy of the scalar field is transferred to particles as their fluctuation energy (“thermal” energy), appearing as their rest energy (mass). The resulting local decrease in the field’s energy density around a macroscopic body generates “thermal” diffusion flux of particles to this region. The properties of this “thermal” part of conservative diffusion are similar to gravitation. A high matter concentration in some region reduces the local energy density of scalar field sufficiently to reduce the local intensity of fluctuations. Due to the conservativity of diffusion, the increments in the drift velocity of particles are cumulative, and “thermal” diffusion acceleration arises, independent on the particle’s mass. The world lines become curved, and all processes with particles slowdown, which means time dilation. On hypersurfaces of simultaneity t = const, where the scalar field is defined, effective metrics, connection, and curvature arise. They obey to Einstein’s equations following from balance between energies of matter and background scalar field.

Toward a relativistic microscopic substantiation of thermodynamics: classical relativistic many-particle dynamics

An exact closed relativistic kinetic equation is derived for a system of identical classical particles interacting with each other through a scalar field. The law of variation of the energy of a system of particles in terms of the microscopic distribution function is obtained.

The Third Transition in Science: Beyond Newton and Quantum Mechanics -A Statistical Mechanics of Emergence

Since Newton all of classical and quantum physics depends upon the "Newtonian Paradigm". Here the relevant variables of the system are identified. For example, we identify the position and momentum of classical particles. Laws of motion in differential form connecting the variables are formulated. An example is Newton's three Laws of Motion and Law of Gravitation. The boundary conditions creating the phase space of all possible values of the variables is defined. Then, given any initial condition, the differential equations of motion are integrated to yield an entailed trajectory in the pre-stated phase space.All of this fails for the diachronic evolution of our or any biosphere. Evolving biospheres are entirely outside the Newtonian Paradigm. Perhaps astonishingly, we can use no mathematics based on Set Theory. A consequence is that for any universe such as ours with one or more evolving biospheres, there can be no final theory.The implications are large. We face a third major transition in science beyond the Pythagorean dream that "All is Number". In face of this, we must give up deducing the diachronic evolution of the biosphere. All of physics, classical and quantum, however, apply to the analysis of existing life, a synchronic analysis.But there is much more. We are on the edge of inventing a physics-like new statistical mechanics of emergence.

Modelling Wave-Particle Duality of Classical Particles and Waves

Wave-particle duality is the fundamental phenomenon of particles and fields in quantum mechanics. In the past, the trajectory-like (particle-like) behaviour and wave-like behaviour has been considered separately. In this article, a superimposed model is derived to characterise wave-particle duality of classical particles. The superimposed model reflects an invariant mathematical structure (analogous variables and differential equations) from classical mechanics, classical field theories and quantum mechanics. Its analytical solution carries trajectory-like property (phase-independent) and wave-like property (phase-dependent) of particles that is consistent with to Schrodinger’s picture. Subsequently, the presented model is applied to model duality of classical waves in electromagnetism, acoustics and elasticity. The analysis implies the existence of quantum effects of classical waves at macroscopic scale. It predicts quantum picture on energy and momentum exchange between classical particles and waves. As seen in the model, wave-particle duality reflects inherent and indispensable characteristics of classical objects.

Quantum magnetic monopole condensate

Despite decades-long efforts, magnetic monopoles were never found as elementary particles. Monopoles and associated currents were directly measured in experiments and identified as topological quasiparticle excitations in emergent condensed matter systems. These monopoles and the related electric-magnetic symmetry were restricted to classical electrodynamics, with monopoles behaving as classical particles. Here we show that the electric-magnetic symmetry is most fundamental and extends to full quantum behavior. We demonstrate that at low temperatures magnetic monopoles can form a quantum Bose condensate dual to the charge Cooper pair condensate in superconductors. The monopole Bose condensate manifests as a superinsulating state with infinite resistance, dual to superconductivity. The monopole supercurrents result in the electric analog of the Meissner effect and lead to linear confinement of the Cooper pairs by Polyakov electric strings in analogy to quarks in hadrons.

Skyrmion ratchet propagation: utilizing the skyrmion Hall effect in AC racetrack storage devices

Magnetic skyrmions are whirl-like nano-objects with topological protection. When driven by direct currents, skyrmions move but experience a transverse deflection. This so-called skyrmion Hall effect is often regarded a drawback for memory applications. Herein, we show that this unique effect can also be favorable for spintronic applications: We show that in a racetrack with a broken inversion symmetry, the skyrmion Hall effect allows to translate an alternating current into a directed motion along the track, like in a ratchet. We analyze several modes of the ratchet mechanism and show that it is unique for topological magnetic whirls. We elaborate on the fundamental differences compared to the motion of topologically trivial magnetic objects, as well as classical particles driven by periodic forces. Depending on the exact racetrack geometry, the ratchet mechanism can be soft or strict. In the latter case, the skyrmion propagates close to the efficiency maximum.

Collective Strategy Condensation: When Envy Splits Societies

Human societies are characterized by three constituent features, besides others. (A) Options, as for jobs and societal positions, differ with respect to their associated monetary and non-monetary payoffs. (B) Competition leads to reduced payoffs when individuals compete for the same option as others. (C) People care about how they are doing relatively to others. The latter trait—the propensity to compare one’s own success with that of others—expresses itself as envy. It is shown that the combination of (A)–(C) leads to spontaneous class stratification. Societies of agents split endogenously into two social classes, an upper and a lower class, when envy becomes relevant. A comprehensive analysis of the Nash equilibria characterizing a basic reference game is presented. Class separation is due to the condensation of the strategies of lower-class agents, which play an identical mixed strategy. Upper-class agents do not condense, following individualist pure strategies. The model and results are size-consistent, holding for arbitrary large numbers of agents and options. Analytic results are confirmed by extensive numerical simulations. An analogy to interacting confined classical particles is discussed.
